As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

BC or YC.....what\'s the big difference?
I'm looking for some good opinions here. I'm considering staying at either the BC or YC but can't decide which one. What are the major differences....if any?
The YC to me looks like some of the rooms are VERY far (Swan/Dolphin side) from the main area of where you'd want to be. Does is just look that way on the map or is it a long walk? Is the BC smaller?
I've checked out AllEars and the decor in both look great. I can't go by that to help in making my decision. I am leaning towards the BC because it's closer to Epcot and the Cape May Cafe is there. But I'm still not 100% convinced.
We may rent a car for a few days....how far is the parking in proximity to each hotel?
I'm looking forward to seeing all the opinions on this one.

Re: BC or YC.....what\'s the big difference?
Beach Club is slightly closer to Epcot as you said. But I don't think there is that great of a distance difference.
We the YC. It was more stately, but a lot more quiet. We were able to enjoy sitting in the lobby - on the porch and not have too many crowds. I really liked the quiet pool and enjoyed doing laundry while I was swimming.
BC always seemed to be busy. We were always around people - even at 2 am! It was funny because we really saw such a difference in crowd levels.
All of the restaurants are just within 5 minutes no matter where you stay. We never had a problem going from YC to BC for Cape May or for Beaches 'n Cream.
One thought - you might be able to save some money buy renting DVC points and then you'd be at BCV. It all depends on availability of course, but with planning ahead - you could really get a great deal.
Either way you have the greatest pool on Dproperty! Enjoy!

Re: BC or YC.....what\'s the big difference?
either hotel has its rooms that are far away from the main lobby.
YC is farther from Epcot but closer to the boat.
BC is a busier hotel with a large Marketplace.
I LOVE BC's theming and Art the greeter.
BC has most rooms with half balconies, meaning only two people can stand up on the balcony. I discovered that all second floor rooms at BC have full balconies or i'm pretty sure all of them do.
check the luxury disney website, they give you the lowdown on both hotels.
They share the pool, which is awesome, it is not a short walk to the pool no matter what room you are in but it is worth the walk.
When we stayed at BC we made sure to ask for a room closest to the themed pool, this way we had the shortest walk to the pool.
The YC lobby is pretty quiet and dark. The Cafe at YC is very good, we ate several meals there in an attempt to avoid the chaos at BC.
Hope this helps a little.

Re: BC or YC.....what\'s the big difference?
I think everyone's summed up the differences pretty well. The Beach Club is closer to Epcot, but it's more of a walk from the boat. We prefer the atmosphere of the Beach Club - we feel it's less formal.

Re: BC or YC.....what\'s the big difference?
We've stayed in both resorts.
To be honest I didn't notice differences between the resorts besides the themeing.
Unless you have a medical reason where you can't walk for very long I doubt you'd even really notice the difference in the walk to Epcot.
No matter which resort you choose I doubt you’ll be disappointed with your hotel.

Re: BC or YC.....what\'s the big difference?
Even though I haven't been to either, I would choose YC over BC first, because it might be less hectic and crowded, and also seems a little more formal, which I like (but doesn't seem stuffy). But I certainly plan on staying at both eventually.

Re: BC or YC.....what\'s the big difference?
We chose to stay at the Yacht Club when we had the choice. I liked the idea of a full patio or balcony in all the rooms of course we ended up in a room looking over the entrance, so didn't really use it (our original room looked over a small "pond" and trees at the end of the building, but it was way too dark for us). We liked being close to MGM and Epcot. I also chose it because everyone seems to always talk up the Beach Club, so I thought it would be easier to get a room at YC during the time we were there.

Re: BC or YC.....what\'s the big difference?
just wanted to add another note.
The BC is much busier and noisier than the YC.
i think that was why i like the Cafe at YC better, much less crowded and noisy.
but we had a great room near the lobby of BC and it was a closer walk to Epcot at BC, which is where we spent alot of time.
I do agree with the others, either hotel should be great.

Re: BC or YC.....what\'s the big difference?
Since these two are sister resorts, they share all the same facilities so there really is no difference in that regard. Basically then, it comes down to a matter of taste. Personally, I prefer the more laid back, casual atmosphere of the Beach Club. To me, the Yacht Club seems a little stuffy in comparison.

Re: BC or YC.....what\'s the big difference?
I think Joy hit the nail on the head there- for me the difference is all in the atmosphere- and I enjoy the Beacg Club's more laid back feeling.

Is there a certain kind of room we should aim for? We intend to spend a bit more time at the hotel this year because life is so hectic with tree kids 6 and under...
