As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm headed to Disney in September and bought 4 day Park Hopper's at the local Disney Store. Later we decided to add an extra day to the trip and now need longer passes. Also decided to upgrade to Park Hopper Plus.
I got some great advice on doing this in an earlier post but now I've got another question.
For 2 reasons, what I'm thinking about doing is buying new passes at the resort.
1) So they can put em right on the room cards. Unfortunately, I don't think I can exchange/upgrade my current passes at the resort and get them applied to the room card. And it sounds really convenient to have everything on that one card. In fact, it sounds so convenient I can't believe anyone staying on site would buy the passes ahead time at a Disney Store. Well ... aside from me anyway
2) I'm getting an MKC card and want to get the 5% off of the whole cost of the 5 day Park Hopper Plus passes. Staying at WL.
My question is does anyone know if the only way to do this would be to buy new passes at the Resort? And if I do buy new passes can I just cash in the existing ones for a refund (I think you have to do this at one of the parks)? What refund options do you have? Will they give me cash for the store bought passes or credit a credit card or is it a WDW credit?
Hi mattjs! I found this site that has some info on upgrading your tickets. If the answer to your question isn't here I would call to ask. This is one thing you don't want to get a wrong answer on or be surprised about at the last minute! http://wdwig.com/ticket.htm#unused
Good luck!

The wdwig ticket faq is great. Upgrading is easy. You just pay the difference between the tickets you've got and the ones you want. You can deffinitis at one of the parks and you might be able to do it at guest services at your resort as well. I had gotten that info from Dave Marx as well in an earlier post so I know I can at least do that. Which will be fine.
The one thing I was sure I had read though was if you bought the passes at your onsite resort at check in they would put them right on your room/resort card. Which seemed like a great idea to me. However, I just called WDW Travel Co. and was told you can only get passes on the room card if you're buying Unlimited Magic Passes. Just to be sure ... is that right?
I thought that was the only way you could get it on a room card, mattjs, but since I wasn't sure I thought it would be better if you called. You might also want to call your resort and sound them out about it just to make sure.

Wrong---we got park hopper pluses last fall and had them put on our room key card. We still have two plus visits left and plan to use one of them this trip. --HiddenMickey
Buying the passes at the resort is about the only thing you can do if you want to upgrade your existing passes rather than purchasing all new passes. (There's one other option, but I'll get into that in a second...)
Good news...the only way to get existing unused passes put on your resort ID is to upgrade them to a different non-AP multi-day pass at your resort! There's a catch - this is sort of confusing and difficult and not all CMs know how to do it. It took the CM at ASMo that did this for part of our group about 30-40 minutes to figure it out completely.
You won't be able to get cash back or even credit for anything...no refunds on passes, so any returning of passes must be done as part of an upgrade. You just pay the difference.
Now, this can also be done at guest relations at the parks, but I don't think they'll put the pass on your resort ID in this case.
You will still get your MKC discount regardless of where you purchase...just remember to show your card.
That's a huge help That sounds great. Exactly what I want to do. Upgrade to a 5 day Hopper Plus and put it on the room card. I could be wrong but, if they new about it, I'd think most people would rather have the passes on the room card than than carry em around seperately. Now I just gotta hope I get a CM who can/will do it.
I thought I had read about people putting Park Hoppers on their resort cards but you know those nutty WDW Travel Co. guys They sound so convincing. Not always right but they got the convincing thing down pat
Thank goodness for these boards. Do you know what the CM had to do to get the upgraded passes on the room card? Maybe I can jump behind the counter and walk em through it
This is just my personal preference, not a recommendation....
I'd keep the Park Hopper as a separate pass. I know, it's one more thing to carry, but what happens if you end-up having leftover days or options on your room key-attached Park Hopper? At least next year when you find a park pass lying around you're more likely to remember it may have some remaining value. Will you remember that old room key has remaining value? I also have this gut feeling that, since room keys have an expriration date (the date you check out) you might (and again, this is only a gut feeling, nothing based on either experience or hearsay) run into technical difficulties using any unused days/options during a future visit.
Also, there's one practical advantage to having separate passes and room key cards--FASTPASS. You can get a FASTPASS issued for each card, so you can have twice as many FASTPASSes active at any one time.
