Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Anyone Stayed at the BC Villas??

We are scheduled to stay in a BC 1 bedroom villa in early June 2003. We would like to hear any comments from people who have stayed there. What is a good room to request? Has anyone left there kids at the SandCastle Club?

Re: Anyone Stayed at the BC Villas??

Hi and welcome to the boards!

We haven't stayed at the BCV yet, we're planning to next year, as it's our home resort as DVC members. From looking around the Villas, we have been trying to work this one out, so I'd be interested in other people's answers as well.

Re: Anyone Stayed at the BC Villas??

dduck,
We will be there 6/22-26. If you have not stayed at a DVC resort 1bd you will be spoiled. We have home resort at OKW and have also stayed at BWV. Our favorite is still OKW ...can't beat the room atmosphere and your car right outside the room. I am very anxious to try BCV this June. You can see wonderful pictures on wdwig.com The pool is definitely worth it..its great to swim in for all ages. Hve fun

Re: Anyone Stayed at the BC Villas??

We stayed at BCV in Oct 2002! We LOVED it! We had a studio about the furthest away from civilization and did not mind the walk (especially as long as DD was in her stroller !). The resort is spectacular. Not having daily mousekeeping was a new experience for us, especially because we utilized Stormalong Bay daily, and the sand was noticeable. We had a view of Epcot as we stayed in room 475. I cannot wait to go back in Dec '03, and I can say, it WILL NOT GET HERE FAST ENOUGHT! Enjoy!

Re: Anyone Stayed at the BC Villas??

We read somewhere that daily mousekeeping was given to people who were not members of the DVC. In other words, just like any other deluxe resort. Is this true?

We stayed in a studio at BCV and loved it! we didnt mind not having daily Mousekeeping at all. I think if you are paying cash (not staying as a guest of a member) you do get daily cleaning, but I am not sure. It is my favorite place to stay now. Sheila

Re: Anyone Stayed at the BC Villas??

dduck,
if you are not dvc member and you stay at the resort as just a guest (not using dvc points) then you do get daily maid service as all resorts rooms. we have been dvc members since 1994 and don't mind the set up of 4 and 7th day. We have washer/dryer in the 1 or 2 bd and can use pool towels for swimming..We actual like not having to think about housekeeping coming into room..late starts or early returns are not a problem.

Re: Anyone Stayed at the BC Villas??

If you have a cash ressie you will have housekeeping daily. If you are there using DVC points and your stay is 8 days or more, one day 4 you will have a full cleaning and on day 8 what they call trash and towel service. If your stay is less than 8 days you will have trash and towel service on day 4.

In Dec we stayed in a studio and had a great time there. It was just my wife and I.

They are very nice. You enjoy teh soaking tub after a long day. They differ from the BW in that the toilet is in a separate w/c from the shower, giving some privacy. Alas the rooms are smaller than those at the BWV, not by much, but they are smaller. Not all rooms have a full balcony.

Love the Beach Club Villas!

Our DVC home is the Beach Club Villas and have stayed there many times. We have tried many other DVC resorts and Deluxe resorts, but always say we like the Beach Club the best! Our two young boys love it too. We hope to use the Sandcastle Club our next trip in June 2009 (boys will be 5 and 11). We request a high floor with Epcot view if possible. It is quiet and we love the back walkway into Epcot, International Gateway. Storm Along Bay is awsome and well worth staying there. But we also enjoy the quiet pool as well. We love Beaches and Cream and Cape May Breakfast Buffett. Other pluses are walking to the BoardWalk and to MGM studios (a longer walk but we love walking alot). We often walk through Epcot and then take the monorail to Magic Kingdom. So we can't say enough good things about Beach Club, we have always felt "at home" there with the best service from CM's as well. Our first trip to the Beach Club was in 1999, so we have been there many times and always a positive stay!

Our home resort thru DVC is WLV but we had stayed at BCV previously (wanted to buy there and it was sold out) and love it so much we only stay at WLV when we can not switch over to BCV. We love the atmosphere in that little part of the world....we love the hotel and the pool area and being by the beach and being able to walk to Epcot & HS (was a huge plus instead a dragging double stroller on crowded buses), and walking over for the entertainment on the BW and so much more. Sorry to say I do not remember any of our room numbers as we have had so many but we usually ask for an Epcot view and have never been disappointed. LOVE IT!!!! Hands down our favorite VC property.
