As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I need some information.. Update 7/22
From anyone who has stayed at Grand Floridian, Polynesian and Beach Club... any or all 3.
What do you like/dislike about the hotels? What requests would you make if you were to book a room at those hotels?
I am Sure about staying at CBR for my Moderate and now trying to decide on my Deluxe for the end of my Trip!
Thanks in Advance!

Re: I need some information..
I've only stayed at BC (well, the Poly about 20 years ago so I won't comment on that)!
The BC is great. You can walk right into Epcot in 5 minutes, the pool is fantastic, you're just a boatride away from MGM (or you can walk), and there's Beaches n Cream
Plus, they finally put in self serve drink refill stations, which really made our day

Re: I need some information..
I agree with Marni on the Beach Club. We love it there as well as the Polynesian. From the beach at the Poly you can see Wishes and they pipe in the music so you can lie on a hammock and enjoy! I would request a lagoon view room also-spectacular view. Just a note however-the 2nd floor rooms do not have balconies so I would ask for a first floor so you can walk out or a third floor for a great view of the lagoon and the castle!

Re: I need some information..
If you do choose the Poly, do request a water view. It is well worth it. I did not and had a garden view that looked into the next building's hallway. The room was nice and big for 3 adults.

Re: I need some information..
I haven't stayed at the Beach Club yet (we'll be there this December ) but we did stay at the Poly last Christmas. We had requested a room with a balcony with a water view....it was soooooo amazing....looked right at Cindy's castle at MK and like everyone said, you get a nice view of Wishes. You can sit outside or even on your balcony....and the Electric Water Parade goes by every night and it's a great view of that too!

Re: I need some information..
I would agree with the comments regarding the Beach Club. We were in Disney over July Fourth and stayed at the Wilderness Lodge. Once we were there we really wished we had stayed at the Beach Club as we had last July. The Wilderness Lodge was nice but we spent a long time waiting for bus transportation. The Beach Club is convenient to Epcot, MGM, Downtown Disney as well as the Boardwalk and Beaches and Cream is great and we found the transportation very efficient both leaving and returning to the resort. We did not stay at the Polynesian but did visit the resort for the Spirit of Aloha and spent some time walking around. It was very nice but seemed a bit spread out and confusing to us. I am certain that you will enjoy whichever resort you choose.
Have fun!

Re: I need some information..
I've stayed at Poly, GF and YC.
Poly...we stayed in Tahiti. Too far from main building for my taste. Like to use Captain Cooks and get mug refills without traipsing all over the resort. Would ask for Figi or Aeortora (sp?) if I were to stay in garden view again.
GF..stayed in Sago Cay facing the monorail and a bit of lagoon. I'd stay there again for sure. Close to main building and shortcut to bus stops. Very close to Gasparilla grill for refills of mug. Not close to pools though.
YC- Probably won't stay there again. I liked BWI much better. Had a bad view of the drive (first room had a woody kind of view but was too dark for my taste because of it). Didn't feel special enough to us. Do like being able to walk to Epcot and MGM though.

Re: I need some information..
I have stayed at the Poly once - and absolutely loved it! We were in a garden view room - and we had the monorail right out our balcony - it wasy actually fun to watch! The rooms are very nice in size and the bathrooms are great! The ability to hop on the monorail is the best! But - the whole atmosphere of the resort is wonderful - the music, the tiki torches at night, the beach - the view of Cindy's castle - well - as you can tell - I am sold on the Poly! And if I could request anything - probably a lagoon view room - facing the Magic Kingdom would be my request. I am staying at the Beach Club the first week of August - and sooooooo looking forward to it! I know there are many people on this board who really love the BC - so I am anxious to spend some time there - but from what I have seen when I have resort hopped - this resort is amazing! Just the pool alone seems worth the stay! I love the beach in general - so staying at the "Beach Club" just makes me SMILE!

Re: I need some information..
We have stayed at the BC once and YC twice. All I can say is location, location, location. Easy walk to Epcot and the Boardwalk (ESPN Zone). Boat ride to MGM. We loved both hotels. The pool is the best in Disney.

Re: I need some information..
I can only comment on the Poly, as I have only just been a day visitor at the other two places. We loved the location of the Poly, and while our room (Rapa Nui)was not close to the Great Ceremonial House, it was super close to the bus stop and just down a short path from the TTC. It was really easy and quick to get anywhere that we wanted to go. We also really enjoyed the pool, and floating about while watching fireworks was one of our most treasured vacation memories. I would ask for one of the re-furbished rooms though, the decor was pretty out-dated, tacky, and even a bit dusty (pretty hard to dust bamboo!). The room was HUGE! We had 5 people in our room, and no one ever had to touch (unless they wanted to, of course!). What a fun choice to make. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them!

Re: I need some information..
I've only stayed at the Poly out of these three - we stayed in the Hawaii building, and I liked it very much, although my husband and one of my girls weren't as impressed.
We really prefer the hotel format - not all the separate buildings like the Poly has. That said, the grounds were beautiful, and the location is great. I liked the volcano pool - but it doesn't make sense to have a volcano - with no hot tub!!!! Come on people - what do you think when you hear volcano - hot bubbly stuff, right!!! We did miss the hot tub there.
I love the look and location of the Beach Club, but I can't convince my husband that we would like it there. He's only gone there to go to Beaches and Cream (and we kind of got lost), and he didn't like the way the pool area was so open to view! (He's just NOT a pool guy - and the kids would be guaranteed to want to spend all their time here!!)
As an adult, I'd imagine that you like to spend a lot of time at Epcot (we do!), and so the Beach Club might make the best sense for you - especially if you like to swim!!
The Grand Floridian has just never appealed to me - I've been in the lobby to see the Christmas decorations, and it is lovely - just not my style. And again - all those separate buildings!!
