Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Tons and tons of pixie dust is needed UPDATED 5/9

Sorry so long

Yesterday we took the kittens with us for Mother's Day so that they could meet their grandparents. We took my mom and Chris' mom out to lunch so we went to my mom's house first to pick her up. We took them inside and we put both of them on the chair next to Puffy (my cat well my mom's now) and she hissed and almost scared the poor things off the chair. Then we took them to my in laws house and as soon as we walked thru the door Sandy was trying to sniff them thru the carrier. We FINALLY got her outside and introduced them to everyone (my MIL, FIL, BIL, Popou Chris' grandfather and even Stripe their cat). Stripe who didn't mind them but Meeko hissed at her (poor Puffy meany cat scared him) Shortly after we got there Popou left and then we left to go out to lunch. The kittens were left at my in laws house with my FIL who wasn’t allowed to go. My MIL set up Sandy’s room (Chris’ old bedroom) for them to stay in. Chris took my mom and I in his car and my BIL drove the MIL in his car because she thought she would have to go to work right after but it ended up she didn’t. After a very nice lunch Chris and I dropped my mom off at home and then went back to my in laws. We stayed there awhile and then I told Chris that I wanted to take them to my dad’s house. So we were there visiting when Simba started wheezing when he breathed (they have both had a little cold since we got them. Simba would have a coughing fit every couple of hours and Meeko would sneeze every couple of hours) and he started acting TOTALLY out of it but he was fine all day Saturday and most of the morning yesterday. In fact my MIL took pictures of them and in the picture Simba looks very alert and healthy. We got a month free vet visits thanks to Shelter Care but it doesn’t go in affected until Tuesday and I wouldn’t have been able to take them to the vet until Wednesday. So anyways when we were leaving my dad’s house and I told Chris I really didn’t like the way that he was breathing at all I didn’t want to wait to take him to the vet so we rushed him to the emergency vet. As soon as we got there we rushed him into the back. We waited about 20 minutes to be called into a room which seems like an eternity while your sitting there. The doctor came in and said everything sounded normal and his temperature was normal so she wanted to do an x-ray to make sure it was nothing internal. Well she came back in the room and shows us the x-ray. He has a lot of fluids in his lungs so that means that he has pneumonia or some disease (which I forgot what it’s called) but she wanted to start treating him for pneumonia and hope that it clears up and if not it was possibly the disease which is fatal . She wanted to admit him to the hospital for a week to 2 weeks on IV fluids and IV antibiotics. Chris asked how much it would cost and she told us around $2,500 (The reason we didn’t admit him is because we wanted to take him back to where we got him and let them take him to the vet since they gave him to us sick) Chris asked what we could do at home so she gave us an antibiotic which she told us we could use for Meeko also (Meeko was with us and she said legally she can’t give us anything for him since she didn’t treat him but we could use Simba’s medicine for him…very nice doctor ) and to steam up our bathroom and have both kittens in there to help clear up their lungs. She said that if he didn’t get better that the best thing for him would be…I can’t even say it…to put him in a deep sleep which sent me into tears. But before we left she injected fluids below his skin and injected him with an antibiotic but told him to give him a dose when we got home too. She told us to wait in the waiting room and she would bring him out to us. Well by that time is was crying so hard and everyone was looking at me but I guess they could figure that we got bad news. She finally brought him out and told us again what to do and we paid the $260 bill and were on our way home. So as soon as we get home Chris and I gave them their medicine. I went into the bathroom and we steamed it all up and after 3 minutes Simba started panting REALLY hard so I freaked out and had Chris call the vet. The doctor we saw wasn’t there anymore so he talked to another doctor. They said that he probably got stressed out and to try it again tomorrow (yeah right). So we set up the carrier with a little fleece baby blanket I bought before we got them and my green velour blanket on the kitchen floor near the food and water. We put him in and left the door open so he could get to the food, water and litter box. I couldn’t stop crying and telling Chris I didn’t want Simba to die. I told Chris I wasn’t going to work because I wasn’t leaving him home alone. Thankfully my MIL works at the same place as me so he calls her and told her what was going on. He also told her that I wouldn’t be able to make it to work. Being the nice MIL she is she told me that if I wanted her to go with me to take the kitten back she would. So it was like 9:30 and Chris said he was going to bed because he felt so sick over this whole thing. So was I in fact we were both so upset we didn’t even have dinner I told him I would be there in a minute and I laid on my velour blanket and fell asleep by my poor little baby. A little while later Chris comes out and wakes me up trying to get me to come to bed. I tell him that I didn’t want to and started crying again. I finally crawled in bed and thankfully Meeko was there. It helped so much having Meeko with us last night purring me to sleep. I fell asleep and woke up at 12:30am and went out to check on Simba. He seemed a little better then he did and could actually walk around a little. I put him back in the carrier and went back to bed but I woke Chris up to tell him that Simba seemed a little better. Now this morning at 5:50 Chris’ alarm goes off so I jump right up to go check on Simba. I put him in the litter box and he did his thing then moved to the back and laid down (don’t worry he didn’y lay in anything we have one of those litter boxes that clean them selves). So I reach in and grab him. I put him by his food and water and refused both. The vet told us if he stopped eating to buy him baby food so I called to Chris in the bedroom and after 20 minutes or so he finally got up. I sent him for babyfood (Chicken and beef…boy does the chicken one stink ) and cat milk. When Chris left I laid on the couch and had about a 5 minute nap before he got back and woke me up. I tried to first give Simba both kinds of babyfood and he didn’t want that so I tried the cat milk in a syringe. That didn’t go over big either. So I started crying and told Chris to call his mom so we could take Simba back where we got him for them to take him to their vet. So at 6:50 Chris called his mom and told her. It was tough for Chris to leave this morning because I was crying so hard. His mom got there about a little after 8 and even brought me breakfast. A pork roll, egg and cheese on a bagel and chocolate milk. After not eating dinner you think I would have been hungry but I could only eat half of the sandwich and drink half the milk. After eating my MIL Mary asked what time the place opens so I told her I didn’t know so I called and it end up they are closed on Monday I called the Petco where we saw the original kitten on the adoption van and they gave me the number to the adoption place but it ended up being one the adoption ladies home number. So she gave me another number to call but I wrote it down wrong so I called her back and nobody answered. So my MIL gets on the phone with Petco to try to find out more information when she hands the phone to me and says there is an incoming call. It was the lady calling me back. I asked her if I could have the number again because I wrote it down wrong and she asked if there was anything she could help me with so I told her the story. She asked where we got it and I told her where we picked them up. It turns out that where they there was 2 sick kittens which passed away and the lady who adopted them to us wasn’t suppose to :incase the rest were sick rolleyes: (She told me it’s like a human cold that it spreads ) So she told me to bring him to her house and she would take him to her vet. So Mary and I took him to her house and dropped him off. As we were leaving she says I hope we can return him to you which sent into tears again. But I kissed him goodbye and she gave me his blanket back. So he is going to her vet at 6 tonight and hopefully she will call me and update me when she gets back. In the mean time can you please send tons and tons of pixie dust that Simba will recover and not well….you know. Also a little to my sick Meeko that he doesn’t get that bad. I will keep you updated. Thank you in advance.

Re: Tons and tons of pixie dust is needed COMPLETED

When I posted before I was at my in laws house.

It was SO sad when I got home before because I came in the door and came in the living room. Meeko knew that I took Simba before so he ran in the kitchen and started meowing for him. It broke my heart I picked Meeko up and told him that Simba was sick and had to go get better. I told him that hopefully Simba is coming home. I also told him that mommy and daddy miss him too and that we are praying for him. I don't think he understood because he kept going in the kitchen and meowing for Simba (I knew he had no idea what I was saying ) but there are a lot of people hoping and praying that Simba comes home Thank you for all the pixie dust. We all really appreciate it and please keep Simba in your thoughts and prayers.

Re: Tons and tons of pixie dust is needed COMPLETED

Lots of Hollie for both Meeko and Simba!! I hate it when a pet is sick. It is so nerve racking. When Simba does come home try mixing the baby food with some cooked white rice. I just recently spent a couple of weeks feeding my yorkie this mixture for a tummy problem.
Keep us posted.
