Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Princess Breakfast or Royal Table?

I'm trying to decide which we should do...The Princess Breakfast in Norway or the Royal Table at the Magic Kingdom. Any thoughts as to if one is better than the other? I'd love to get some feedback. - Thanks!

Re: Princess Breakfast or Royal Table?

Cheryl,

We did both in January and liked the Princess Storybook Breakfast a bit better. The atmosphere is just so much more relaxed there. I found the food to be a tad bit better and our service was a lot better. Of course, all of this depends on your personal taste and the luck of the draw (as far as service is concerned sometimes).

We were seated immediately at PSB and had to wait at least 20 minutes in a very loud and chaotic anteroom for CRT. We will try CRT again one day - - DD did love it - - but not right away. We are doing PSB again in May.

Good Luck!

Jill

Re: Princess Breakfast or Royal Table?

We've done both, and I would agree it's a preference thing. The first time we did CRT was about 4 years ago, so I don't remember the food in detail, but it was good. On our last trip we did PSB and liked that too. It was a little more cozy and relaxed, and we were seated by the door they came out of so we got them first! But as a whole, I would say it depends on the Princesses. If you want Cindy you really should do her place. I don't know if I've ever heard but maybe once that she's shown up at PSB. Now PSB had Princesses we'd never seen at Cindy's table. It's all in the priorities! Good luck, Ruth

Re: Princess Breakfast or Royal Table?

The last three trips, we've been lucky enough to be able to do both, the food at PSB is definately better IMHO. The service was about the same, fairly good in both. The wait at CRT is definately longer even with PS's. That said the atmosphere of eating in the castle cannot be beat, it's simply magical! At PSB it is crowded, but the restaurant handles it better, whereas at CRT you do feel like you're right on top of the next table.
Either way it's an unforgetable experience for kids and adults alike.

Our favourite of the two is the Princess Storybook Breakfast - we've eaten there twice before and find the food to be better quality and the character interaction to be less rushed.

Re: Princess Breakfast or Royal Table?

We've only been to PSB and the food was excellent, especially the chocolate danish to start as well as the delicious hash brown potatoes!(Don't be shy about asking for seconds!) We plan on visiting Cindys for the Character Breakfast in June, but we have eaten in the castle and the food there was also delicous. I know I haven't been of any help, but the way that we decided was by listing the princesses that would be at each and I let my girls decide -they chose PSB.

I've only been to CRT so I can't help you there. (by the way it was great) But, don't forget to call exactly at 7 AM, 90 days out of when you want to eat at the one you choose. If not, you won't be eating at either. They are probably the two hardest PS's to get.

Re: Princess Breakfast or Royal Table?

We've done both and far prefer Cinderella's Royal Table for breakfast over the Princess Storybook Breakfast at Restaurant Akershus. We received excellent service at both locations but when we tried the PSB last December, the food we received was pretty dreadful. The breakfast meats were all very greasy and we didn't find any of the offerings to be at all tasty. In comparison, we've done breakfast twice at CRT and had delicious food on both occasions. Add to that the fact that you really can't beat eating breakfast in the castle and you have an unbeatable combination. We particularly enjoy booking an early breakfast and then hitting Fantasyland right after our meal while it's still pretty much deserted.

Re: Princess Breakfast or Royal Table?

I've done both and PSB is by far better. Especially the food. I did enjoy CRT because of eating in the castle and they did give us champagne glasses and decorated our table for our anniversary. But I enjoyed the food better at PSB.

Re: Princess Breakfast or Royal Table?

We've done both, a number of times now. I like each for their own reasons. The atmosphere is much better at CRT, as there's nothing like eating in the castle

However, we've had better food at PSB (and didn't feel so rushed)!

Good luck with your decision

Re: Princess Breakfast or Royal Table?

We plan to try Princess Storybook in Sept, but in November, did CRT and the Cinderella Gala Feast in 1900 Park Fare, a character dinner. It was wonderful, and my suggestion would be to consider doing that dinner with the storybook breakfast. I hadn't thought of it before we made our PS, but the Gala Feast was first, and the Cinderella characters really spent time with our table. My DDs were enchanted! Then the breakfast came a couple of days later and I thought, "What if they recognize that it's not the "same" Cinderella?" The breakfast Cinderella wasn't nearly as attentive, so they didn't notice. But since you get every OTHER princess at the storybook breakfast, doing the Gala feast is one way to get Cinderella (and avoid duplication !)

Re: Princess Breakfast or Royal Table?

We really preferred Princess Breakfast at the Ankerhaus. The princesses spent alot of time with my grand daughter who was in heaven the whole time. You should see my pictures. I'll post one if I can find it.
