Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: 3 yr old that hates stroller

I went to WDW in December with my 2 boys by myself (age 6 & almost 4) Usually my boys will not sit in a stroller, but after a day or two they were asking for one!!
I drilled into there head, that they were to hold my hand at all times!! It really was not as bad as I thought is was going to be.
I also had then where an ID and a resort key card around their neck at all times. So if we would get seperated, hopefully they would be able to get them back to me.
Good Luck, I'm sure you will have a great time!!

I think that if she walks around with you for one day she will be begging to get in a stroller!

Re: 3 yr old that hates stroller

I agree after a while she will want the stroller. Just don't agree to carry her once she gets tired. I had a "dog tag" w/ our names on it and tied it to her sandle or sneaker while in the parks. That way god forbid we got seperated a CM would have our info, but some whack job couldn't easily identify her.

Re: 3 yr old that hates stroller

My 3 year old never, I mean never, gets worn out. Well, surprise, she sure did at WDW! She wanted to ride in the stoller as well. Maybe if she sees the WDW strollers, she'll like them. They are different from a regular stroller.

Another idea is to tie a balloon to her belt loop. This has 2 advantages and a few disadvantages. First, if she takes 2 steps away from you, at least you can still see the balloon. Also, you can hold the balloon string instead of her hand in places where there's not so many people and give her a little space to romp.

The problems are that there will be other kids with the same balloon, but I don't think you'll have to worry about her getting too far away from you. The other is that balloons are kind of a pain on the rides, we managed though and it was better than a leash! (I have debated many times about the leashes, but I just can't bring myself to do it. I know many parents love them!)

Re: 3 yr old that hates stroller

I think she'll walk around one day and be begging for a stroller. My DS (5) rode in a stroller the entire week; I even rented a stroller for DS (7) because his little legs just couldn't take it anymore.
Another suggestion would be to get a "leash" to keep her nearby. You can also dress her in bright clothes just in case she wanders and you need to find her.
Also, make sure both kids have I.D. on them. The CMs are great reuniting lost kids with parents, but adding a little bit of extra "insurance" doesn't hurt.
Have a great time!!

My 4yr old DD and 6yr old DS both run for the strollers to see who can get in the fastest.

Re: 3 yr old that hates stroller

Be sure to educate her about the CMs on first entering a park and tell her to go to one if you get separated. I heard several parents telling their kiddos that and pointing out the CM costumes and name badges.

Re: 3 yr old that hates stroller

My now 16yo wasn't thrilled about her stroller when she was little either, so I bought a harness w/ a leash (saw several of those this trip) from babies r us. There are 2 types of leashes available, one velcros around the wrist and has a part for your to wear around yours, the other is a chest harness with a leash off the back and NO, they are not "inhumane"...you leash your dog for safety, there's nothing wrong with leashing your kid. I made it absolutely clear to my DD that it was the leash, the stroller, or NOTHING. There were no options. I grew up wearing a chest harness myself that was actually my seatbelt in the back of a station wagon, but my parents held the strap so I wouldn't get lost in the midst of the Turkish marketplace, the Agora in Athens, or the train station in London. I used it until I was 8 or 9 for that purpose. It kept me safe. BTW, after a day at WDW, my DD wanted her stroller too.

Re: 3 yr old that hates stroller

My 2yr old hated the stroller too. I swore I would never get one of those leashes but with her I had no choice. At a baby expo I purchased this frog fanny pack one for me and one for her and they were attached with a cord that looked like the frogs tongue. She didn't mind wearing it because it had a little patch for her to put her things in it. I didn't mind wearing it because no one ever looks silly in disney. I had her attached to me and it was great.

Re: 3 yr old that hates stroller

This is what I did... my 3.5 year old niece told me she was too old for a stroller - so I got one for the backpack... since "Aunt T gets tired easy" - within 20 minutes of walking up Main Street -- her little legs were tired and asked to sit in the stroller.... I told her she said she didn't need one - and if she sat there... what about my backpack??

She sat with the backpack between her legs for the next 4 days of the trip!!!
