As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

WDW Christmas pages?
I'm hoping that one of you scrapping pros might know where to direct me on this one!
We took a probably once-and-only Christmas trip to WDW this past Dec., and I would love to find a specific product that was sold out. While at the scrapbooking store in DTD, I saw packages of Halloween pages, etc. for WDW parks, but no Christmas ones. The CM there said that the Christmas ones sold out way before Christmas.
Any ideas where I might be able to find one of those sold-out ones?

Re: WDW Christmas pages?
You didn't find any?? That is very strange I was at WDW on 12/22, 12/23, 12/25 and 12/26 and picked up 2 of the three Christmas kits. My sister purchased the third for me for Christmas. You can find the Christmas kits on eBay every now and them but they are usually very expensive (the kits are $15 at WDW). You can call the WDW merchandise number and order them directly from WDW. I don't have the number on me but it is on any WDW merchandise receipt you have.

Re: WDW Christmas pages?
I would call WDW merchandising directly as well to check on that, as like Robin, we found those freely available up until Christmas - I think I saw them about a day or two before Christmas. I can't believe they sold out of them.
I hope you have some luck in finding them.

Re: WDW Christmas pages?
Thanks to all for your help. I think Dawn has this one covered!
You know, maybe the CM was just upset. There were no kits on the shelf, so I stood in line to ask AND to buy postcards to send to a friend's daughters--fairy godmailings. While in line, I filled out the cards that were going to be purchased right there and then in the front of the line that I was standing in. Two customers were ahead of me. When it was my turn, I told the CM- a very small Woody Allen type looking guy from NY- that I was paying for the postcards first. They were 50 cents each. I also asked how to get the Disney postmark on those cards. Could he put it in Disney mail box behind him when we were done with the transaction?
Well- get ready for this one--he sternly told me that I had just commited an act of vandalism, and that he could call the police if he wanted to!!! I think my jaw just about hit the counter! He went on to tell me that I had done "lots of things" wrong. 1. Writing on the postcards before giving him the money. 2. I had put those cute Disney character stamps on the card thinking that the little girls who would be receiving them would get a kick out of it, and now he couldn't put a postmark on them. 3. I was late for today's mailing, so it would just have to wait!
I was shocked, frightened, embarrassed, and angry all at the same time, but I did fell into the good little Catholic girl routine that I was raised on and killed hime with kindness. You know, "Thanks for not calling the police, thanks for your help," etc.
Oh, yes...he put the postcards in his box after I was done paying. I asked him about the Christmas scrapbooking pages after the postcard fiasco. That's when he said that they had sold out long ago.
It was our last day at Disney, and I didn't want to ruin our memories of the awesome time that we had untill then, so I tried to hide this whole thing from my husband and kids when I got back to the car. Soon after, my back and neck were screaming in pain from the knots that the stress of the confrontation had caused, and I just lost it.
When I finally told my husband about what had happened, he said that the little man was lucky that we were back at the resort when he heard about the situation. He really wanted to talk to a manager about the CM, but I didn't want to ruin the end of our trip.
I can honestly say that this angry CM was the ONLY lousy worker that I encountered on our whole trip. I LOVE Disney and will be back in a couple of months. He made HIMSELF look bad, not Disney.
I'm not sure what made me talk about this now, except that it happened at the scrapbooking store. Sorry to rant, but are you all as shocked as I was?
Thanks for your help!
Karin

Re: WDW Christmas pages?
Wow! I was going to offer the idea of calling WDW merchandising and then saw it was already done. So I read your last post anyway. That is just horrible! Something like that would upset me too. I think that deserves a call to WDW to voice a complaint. They need to know so the CM is not allowed to do that to anyone else. Maybe he was having a bad day or maybe he is a problem employee that Disney needs to know about. Sorry you went through that!

Re: WDW Christmas pages?
I cannot believe what happened to you. If you got the guy's name, then I'd contact Disney to let them know what happenend. As Nala said, he could have been having an off day, but management do need to be aware of this issue. How horrible for you.
