Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

My MIL is driving us nuts!!- vent STRANGE update !!

As if DH isn't having a hard enough time coping with his Dad's death, the other day MIL zinged him something terrible..

Prologue:MIL divorced FIL over 13 years ago & yes, they have remained close due to the fact that FIL had a brain injury & didn't know he was divorced. DH let her come in to town & say her goodbye's to FIL & also she was present every day at the funeral home etc.. Her current DH knew my FIL since he was 5YO so they also were very close (looong sopa opera story there!) he too attended all of the funeral services.

The day of FIL's funeral MIL decided she was going to stay here an extra week BUT she didn't want to pay the extra $$ for the rental car (she can well afford it!!) so she told DH he would have to take her to the airport on the 28th.. DH didn't want to do that & felt that it would be best that MIL leave the following day, he felt we needed to start getting our lives in order & with her here it wouldn't happen.. She seemed okay with this & even helped DH with an insurance problem a couple days later. Well on Wednesday she threw her zinger in there..

You see DH has NOT been handling his Dad's death well at all & he is in extreme grief. MIL called on Wednesday to let us know she sent DD a birthday card & then told DH "If you want us to visit ever again, we have to be invited" insinuating that DH kicked her out of here after the funeral. Well, this is NOT what DH needs to hear...she seemed to be wanting to cause DH to feel bad ( as if he doesn't already) I was livid!!! to make your own child who is hurting deeply feel even worse in incomprehensible to me.. I think she showed DH exactly how she felt about him.. (Like he hasn't known that he was the BAD child for over 34 years~ another looong story BIL is the golden child & DH was nothing)

Now, here comes the kicker.. Last night she calls to see how we're doing & ends the conversation all sticky sweet telling DH how much she loves him.. He was so upset over her change of face he couldn't even say it back to her..

I thought as parents we were put on this earth to help our children & love them unconditionally... not to try to hurt them.. I don't understand this.. & then to make an about face is just NUTS!!!

Thanks for letting me vent.. I have been sooo angry I could explode.. Fortunately, I haven't answered the phone when MIL called or it would not be a nice phone call. DH is used to her belittling him so he doesn't fight back but I am not so nice!!

Re: My MIL is driving us nuts!!- vent for the week!!

WOW, what a stinker your mil is. I feel so badly about your dh. What a horrible thing to be so deeply in grief and then to have your only living parent tell you that you are pretty much a loser who kicked her out of his home and away from her grandchildren.

I hope your dh is able to feel the comfort and love that you are giving him and that he finds peace.

Im sorry for your loss.

I'm so, so sorry about all this! I cannot believe your MiL would be so cruel to her own child, that's just awful. Please give him our deepest condolences. Your family continues to be in our hearts and prayers.

I can believe a parent would act this way. My DH is also the bad child. There are 3 and DH is always wrong.

I hope your DH can get on with things and feel great about his Dad. Your DH did a lot for his Dad and he needs to remember the good times. Pixie dust that you all can come to terms with your loss.

I'm so sorry your DH is having to deal with his
mothers hurtful words on top of losing his
father. I'm praying your DH will feel a peace
about all this and be able to remember the good
times with his father.

Re: My MIL is driving us nuts!!- vent for the week!!

Okay, here's the end all.. MIL phoned on Friday to see how we were doing & ended the conversation with DH with "I love you guys!" what a turn around from a couple of days before.. Then, last night she really shocked us..
I was at Daisy girl scouts with DD & MIL called & spoke to DH while I was gone.. She told her DH that she doesn't want any gifts from him for Christmas what she wants is for us to come to her place to visit.. She will pay for our airline tickets but she would like for us to spend a holiday with her. DH did NOT telling her that we are going to WDW on Jan 1st as she's been making little comments on how we have to be frugal now that DH has to get another job, etc..
We don't know what to do.. I really enjoyed visiting her house & had a great time & we are thinking of going late in the day on Dec 25 until-DEc 30-31 then hop back on a plane & go to WDW Jan 1st.. Being away from home for the Holidays might just be what DH needs...
DH told his Mom we'd think about it & let her know.. is this nuts??? the kids are all for going to visit Grandma as long as it doesn't interfere with our WDW plans ( I assured them NOTHING would interfere the plane tix are bought!!) I think I would like to go but am wondering if it would be too much traveling??
Any suggestions??? ideas??? HELP!!!!!!
