As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Good Morning Everybody!
Didn't bother to weigh myself this morning. I'm afraid of what it might show. Going to be strong all week and then take a peek next Monday. I CAN AND WILL DO IT.....I CAN AND WILL DO IT.....I CAN AND WILL DO IT!!!!!!
Liz, thanks for the asparagus recipe. I've never fixed it before. I have bought frozen blended vegies with pea pods. DH ate them but wasn't crazy about them. I like them though. BTW, I'm reading your trip report from November right now. Better late than never!
Janet, thanks too for the suggestion about the sugar snap peas. As for growing them myself.....I have a black thumb.....can't even grow house plants!!
Ann, you might have been on a plateau, if you were, you're lucky it only lasted a couple weeks! I've been on plateaus that last months!! My weight has been fluctuating a lot lately too. Don't know exactly what causes it.
Well, onward with another crappy Monday as I look out the window to more snow!!! UGH!!!
Have a good one everybody!!

Re: Pixie Chicks-2/24/03
Hi! It's been quite a while since I checked in. I'm up a couple of pounds, but I haven't been trying. It's been so flippin' cold here that I just want to eat everything in sight! We've had company for the past week so there's been a lot of restaurant meals, including DS's birthday dinner. Ah, well. Once it starts to warm up (yeah, like July!), it will be easier to cut back on the calories again.
I hope everyone is over their flu's and other bugs. Have a great day!

Re: Pixie Chicks-2/24/03
I weighed myself this morning and I've lost 6 pounds - mostly because I had a stomach virus all week-end and I ate virtually nothing. I drank water, juice, tea, warm lemonade, Coke, but nothing solid.
Well, maybe I can keep the momentum going this week when my tummy feels better!

Re: Pixie Chicks-2/24/03
Hey there I have been reading your posts I am new to the board. Can I join you? I am trying very hard to loose 10 maybe 12 pounds before I leave for my cruise.(feb 2004) If you don't mind me joing I can help out a little in the Recipe and Tips area for I am a weight Watchers Leader who has lost 66 lbs in a year. I promise I won't talk points but when your a leader you tend to loose focus on your own weight and worry so much about others that I need a new place to check in besides when I go to work ans step on the scale which no one sees anymore but me. Any way if you will have me I would love to join you.

Donna, I had one of those DS birthday meals yesterday, too!
I did lose a pound of hair, I think, yesterday, though!

Re: Pixie Chicks-2/24/03
Hi! I asked about joining your group on Friday (I do this from work!).
If I may, I will give you a little background about me. I joined Weight Watchers at the beginning of November. I have had 2 spinal surgeries in 2 years and found out that I was herniating another disc. That was the motivation for me to lose weight. So far, I have lost 20 pounds. I hit a rought patch during January and didn't lose any. My doctor switched me to bioidentical hormones (for menopause) and adjusted the amount I take so that finally got the weight loss going again (I lost 2 last week).
I would like to lose another 25-30 pounds.
We are taking a trip to WDW at the end of May.

Re: Pixie Chicks-2/24/03
Welcome cokebearjdw and LindaR! The more the merrier! We try to keep each other motivated, some of us are on "organized" plans like WW and FoodMovers, others are just eating sensibly and adding exercise.
I am a lifetime WW member who originally lost 20 pounds then maintained for nearly a year. I decided to drop another 5 pounds, but I fell off the Pixie Chick wagon (and have quit attending WW meetings).
Slow down a little, Cindy, I'm trying to hop back on the Wagon!

Re: Pixie Chicks-2/24/03
Howdy all! Been stuck at my mom's while DH recuperates from his back surgery. Since he couldn't climb stairs, my mom took us in for the last 10 days. I have gained 8 pounds , a combo of eating all the junk food my mom keeps at her house and not getting any excercise since I needed to keep close to DH since he can't do anything for himself.
Well we're home now and the doctor has eased up on DH's restrictions . I have 5 months from today until my 40th birthday and should be able to reach my goal weight if I fasten that seatbelt really tight and get my jaw wired shut !
Anyway, I guess all any of us can do is take it one day at a time.

Re: Pixie Chicks-2/24/03
Did anyone hear the big "THUD" coming from Georgia? That was me falling off the diet wagon this weekend. I have been so hungry all weekend. And to make matters worse, I helped my in-laws cater a wedding and they had lots of food left over that I've been munching on! I did walk Sat. and Sun to try to balance out the extra points I ate. As of this morning I've lost 12.5 pounds, which means I gained about .5 pound, not too bad I guess but I pretty much wasted all the good work I put in last week! Now that I've ate all the cheese ball that was left over from the catering, I should be able to do better. For some reason I've had a hard time getting my water down, it seems like I'm just tired of it.
I've been working on my recipes all day, trying to get them together and calculate the points on them.
Welcome to our new pixie chicks - look forward to hearing more from you - there is strength in numbers! GOOD LUCK TO US ALL!!
