Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Good Morning TGIF!!!
I am sooooo thirsty this morning! This first bottle of water is tasting sooooo good!! Managed to go 2.02 miles on the treadmill last night in 30 minutes. I ran for a couple minutes but I figured I would poop out if I kept going and wouldn't be able to finish my 2 miles so I quit. Don't know how you can run for 1 hour! I've got alot of work to do before I can do that! Last night I added fat-free cheese and deli meat to my salad and had a wonderful Chef Salad. I really think I could eat that everynight! I love it!!
Beaner, it took me until my 39th birthday to realize that I really needed to do something about my weight and do it NOW! I had gained 60 pounds over the course of 20 years and it wasn't going to just go away on its' own. I was a year away from my 40th birthday and I was determined to look good! Of course the trip to WDW helped too! I have never looked good in any vacation photos but this time I was going to make sure I did!! I had 2 very important goals to reach and I stuck with them the whole way! Managed to loose 56 pounds by my 40th birthday and now I have WDW pictures that I actually display in frames for everyone to see!
It's not easy to want to exercise everyday. It's a definite "frame of mind". I don't really have a choice in my life. I HAVE to do it, not only to maintain my weight loss, although I'm still trying to loose 20 more pounds, but to stay healthy. I want to make sure that I'm around to see my grandkids graduate from school, not that I have any yet, which is quite all right for now. Just take it one day at a time and try to get some exercise in some way. Please don't wait until you're 40 years old like me. Trust me when I tell you, it's going to be much easier for you to loose it now, then when you get older. You can do it!!
Ann, you're right, that recipe certainly sounds bizarre! But I might just have to try it!!
Michele, I am so impressed with your running! I guess I just haven't gotten that desire to run yet. Where's Forest when you need him!
Have a great day everybody and an even better weekend!!

Re: Pixie Chicks-1/17/03

Good morning! I did it, I did it! I stayed within my points for Day 3 In A Row!!! It was really hard because there are some really yummy pastries on the kitchen counter that keep calling my name, but I only ate one for breakfast and then ignored them for the rest of the day. I did another 1.5 miles yesterday, burning off 155 calories. Boy I hope that calorie calculator on my treadmill is accurate. And work was very steady yesterday, so I know I exercized away a few more points there.

Today is car shopping day. Then DH and I will have lunch together, and then it's off to work again. I'm not sure I'll get my treadmill work in. Maybe tonight if I'm not exhausted from work.

Cindy, I know what you mean about being thirsty. It's so dry here that I'm craving water. (This from a person who doesn't particularly care for water) Well, drink up and have a great day!

Re: Pixie Chicks-1/17/03

Michele - I hope Teddy is feeling better - seizures can really take it out of you, is that normal for him? When do you guys leave for your trip? You can make a modified version of Chef's Salad with fat free turkey from the deli - tastes just like the regular, I've never tried Healthy Choice's version - but I don't like their frozen dinners, YUCK! Top it with some fat free balsamic vinagraitte - Yummy!

I haven't gotten my exercise in today - no treadmill here, and it would be treacherous to try and run the roads around here in the winter. I have been staying within my points for the last couple of days, however - the scale was down one pound today. I still haven't gotten back to my pre-vacation weight, but that's okay - I have a total of about 15-20 left to lose, and I want to do it by June, so I have plenty of time for a slow and steady. Hopefully, that way it will stay off! I want to be able to wear shorts and tank tops in Orlando - never been there in summer - I hear it is brutal, but I don't want to embarrass my girls, either. No problem getting my water down here either - it must be the heat running so much that is making it so dry! We have a whopping 9 degrees here today, a veritable heat wave! It is supposed to get down to 30 below tonight - I really need to get back to Florida!

Michelle - I hear you about waiting! I never had a weight problem after my pregnancies - I ended up losing weight with all three! I had Sarah at 35, and weighed one pound less than when I started after delivery. Unfortunately, I nursed all three, and Sarah nursed for just over two years! Nursing makes me ravenous, so I never lost weight by nursing, as many women do. When Sarah stopped nursing, I didn't stop eating! By my 40th birthday - I weighed 20 lbs more than when I was 9 months pregnant with my first! OUCH! That was enough for me to say it is finally time to get this under control! I've lost 20 lbs, and I would like to lose 20 more. That would put me where I was before I had children, and should be a size 8 clothing if memory serves me correctly. I have successfully retired my size 16 and most of my 14's and can usually wear a 12 now. I do better when the kids are in school and I'm at work - when they are home, they eat constantly, and I want to help!

Re: Pixie Chicks-1/17/03

Sorry Marie,

Teddy has had seizures for around 8 years now. Didn't mean to scare you. Funny how when something is a part of your daily life you forget it can sound scary to other people.

It is pretty much a daily(5-6 times a week)or should I say nightly thing. He mostly just seizes at night but it wrecks his energy level next day and has caused some significant developmental delay.

We leave for our trip in 13 days and we are so excited. He's actually much stronger these days and we can travel again which is nice. That is the reason for our huge gap in trips to the World. His nuerologist wasn't really comfortable with him travelling long distances. Things are a little better though and we've been cleared for travel.LOL (I feel like he's an astronaut or something) Of course his awesome dedicated Dr. wouldn't clear us until he set us up with a nuerologist at one of the hospitals down there. We wont need him though. I can pretty much handle anything at this point.

Thanks for your concern, you are so sweet.

Re: Pixie Chicks-1/17/03

I will have to say that this has not been a very good week for me - food wise. It's so hard to want something and can't have it! I can do good at breakfast and lunch, but at night it really gets to me!

Since it's about 15 degrees outside, I broke down and walked tonight on the treadmill. I have to say I hate walking on the treadmill, it is totally boring to me! I'd rather breathe the fresh air and enjoy my surroundings outside. But, I got to thinking about what I'd eaten today that I wished I hadn't, so I decided to give it a try. After about 4 minutes, I thought I'd had enough, my legs were so tired and I was dying of thirst. But I held out and walked 35 minutes total. So I hope it helped!

Does anyone know how much activity it takes to burn a pound of fat?

Re: Pixie Chicks-1/17/03

Hi Girls,

Cindy, I run for the runners high, no kidding, it really is a stress buster for me. Less stress=less eating for me. How does that fat free meat taste ok? I'm not even looking for great, but is it palatable. Chef salad is a big thing I miss but I didn't know about the taste of the Healthy Choice meat and cheeses. I just avoid something if I will overeat it and Chef Salad is one of those things. I swear I could eat it in 5 gal. buckets .

Donna, I am so proud of you! Three days in a row is awesome. I only run b/c I have such a hard time staying within points or dieting in general. I don't love or miss desserts, it is the real food I have to eat. So I have to be burning alot of calories during workouts. BTW the pastries are actually saying Donna thank you for not eating us. It hurts when your sharp teeth bite into us. And I only know this because this is what the two new boxes of Girl Scout Cookies on my counter are saying to me. Especially the shortbread ones. They don't want to be eaten the most.

I am trying to eat healthier but it is so confusing sometimes. Low fat=high sugar, Low calorie=no taste sometimes. I am seriously thinking of going Chrissi's way and trying to cook from more pure raw food. Get rid of the preservatives and use a whole food approach. One of my best friends swears by this method. She will only shop the outside of the supermarket b/c she says the middle aisles are where all the bad stuff is, ie pre-packaged w/ lots of junk in it. She will only buy fresh, nothing canned or frozen.

Ann, That Monte Christo sandwich sounds heavenly. Going to try it when I go shopping. Great recipe, thanks.

Got 2.5 running in this morning but DS is not having the greatest day (4 seizures already)so I hope to fit in the other 2.5 but will give myself a pass if it doesn't happen. Great day all.

Re: Pixie Chicks-1/17/03

I'm a little late here, but wanted to jump in with yesterday's update. The baby and I have been doing our Mama and Baby Yoga on DVD 4 times a week now and the other three days I rotate through my 4 different bellydancing DVDs (upper body, lower body, abs, and fat-burning). I've been doing this for 2 weeks, but it doesn't really seem like exercise. Thank goodness! I guess I was just curious because exercise has always been such a chore for me. I haven't really been thinking of it as exercise. I've more or less just been playing with the baby. Anything to keep him occupied for 16 hours a day while DH is working double shifts all week long. It's been a very long week.

Preparing meals has gotten much easier. I started using my G. Foreman Grill (that I thought DH got rid of, but - ). Just about every meal is a grilled piece of meat and microwaved frozen veggies. Oh and fruit for breakfast.

Now if I could just find some really satisfying snacks to tide me over. I'm still nursing the baby exclusively and it really takes it out of me all day long.

Anybody have some filling, but healthy snack ideas? Even if they're not so healthy? I've been on the not-a-saint diet. 90% of the food I eat is healthy and whole foods (not pre-prepared meals). 10% is what I allow myself when a craving strikes - and when you're nursing, there's always a craving for something!
