Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Favorite slow cooker/crock pot recipes

As cooler weather approaches, it is time to take out the slow cooker/crock pot. I am wondering what your favorite slow cooker/ crock pot recipe is. Thanks.

My favorite crock pot dish is about as easy as it gets! Place a pork roast in, season with salt, pepper, minced onions and add a little water. The meat falls apart and is soooo good.

Re: Favorite slow cooker/crock pot recipes

My wife makes a chicken dish in our crock pot that ROCKS!

Provincial Garlic Chicken with Potatoes

Ingrediants:
1 pound small red potatoes, cut into quarters
1 bag baby cut carrots
15 cloves garlic peeled and cut in 1/2
2 1/2 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken
1 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup dry sherry
1 teaspoon dried basil leaves
1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary leaves crumbled
1/2 tesspoon salt
1 jar of marinated artichoke hearts
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon of water

Place potatoes, carrots and garlic in slow cooker. Place chicken on top. Mix borth, sherry, basil, rosemary and salt. Pour over chicken and veggies. Cover and cook on low setting for 5-6 hours or until veggies are tender and juice from the chicken when cut is no longer pink. Remove chicken and keep warm. Drain artichoke hearts, stir 2 teaspoons of the artichoke juice in the slow cooker. Cut the artichokes in 1/2 and place in slow cooker. Mix cornstarch and water until smooth. Gradually add this mixture to the slow cooker. Cover and cook an additional 15 minutes or until thickened. Serve chicken with veggies spooning the marinade over each serving.

Ya'll - this recipe seriously rocks! Enjoy!

Re: Favorite slow cooker/crock pot recipes

Yummy...Roast!!! I put my potatoes on the bottom, then follow with a layer of onions, place the roast in next, cover with water & sprinkle a packet of Onion Soup Mix over the top...then use the juices to make an oh so yummy gravy!!!!

My next favorite is: Sweet & Sour Chicken...

2 diced chicken breasts
1 chopped onion
2 chopped bell peppers
1 bag frozen broccoli
1 small bag of carrots
1 large can of chunk pineapple (drain and SAVE the juice)
1/4-1/2 cup of brown sugar
1/4-1/2 cup of vinegar
Water for Extra Liquid
1 Tablespoon of cornstarch for every cup of liquid you end up with

Put chicken in slow cooker/Crock Pot. Add the onion, peppers, broccoli, and carrots Whisk together until blended well, no lumps in sugar, liquids, spices, and cornstarch, and sugar. Pour over chicken. If there is not enough juice, add water to bring up to the desired level. (REMEMBER THOUGH: For each extra cup of liquid, stir in another Tablespoon of cornstarch before you pour it in the slow cooker/Crock Pot) . Cook 8-10 hours on Med or 10-12 on low. I sometimes vary the recipe...using fruit cocktail and a bit less sugar, Pineapple, or apricot preserves or orange marmalade. works too. (no cornstarch needed when you used preserves...nor sugar of course. Use your imagination. Remember sweet and sour is basically a fruit juice and vinegar.

Re: Favorite slow cooker/crock pot recipes

I'm so glad someone brought this up...I was thinking of my slow cooker the other day and wondering what else I could do with it (besides beef stew which DH is sick of).

Steve...that chicken recipe sounds awesome, I'll have to try that. How much does that make?? I know you guys have a much bigger family but I'd hate to make something that we'll be eating for the next month.

<font size="2" face="Comic Sans MS, Arial">It definitely makes enough for 5-6 servings, so if you have a smaller family to feed, you'll want to adjust the ingrediants accordingly. We just had this last week when we had the cool rainy weather - Susan uses the crock all winter long - I'll see if I can pull out a few more recipes for ya'll.

Re: Favorite slow cooker/crock pot recipes

WOW!!! Thank you all so much for sending the delicious sounding recipies. I have been busy the last couple of days (school started on Tuesday) and I was so excited to see all the recipies tonight. I am not much of a cook, so I can use all the help I can get. Thank you! I can't wait to start trying them out.

Re: Favorite slow cooker/crock pot recipes

I use my crock pot for side dishes alot.
A bag of baby carrots, orange marmalade little broth and a spoon of grey poupon on low 4-6 hours.

Diced potatos, cheese, onion and a can of cream of celery soup.

For mexican beef for tacos or anything.
1 lbs. chunk stew meat, 1 can cream of celery soup, 1 small can of chopped mexican chiles. Mash with a potato masher and use as filling for tacos or anything else.
