As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Valley Forge, PA area question
Will be attending the EANG-NJ (Enlisted Assoc of the Nat'l Guard of NJ) convention this weekend at the Radisson Hotel located in King of Prussia,PA. Was wondering if anyone has ever attended Lily Langtry's Dinner/Show located at the Radisson? If so, what would be proper attire?
Also, has anyone ever taken the tour of the Valley Forge battle grounds? Was it nice? I am not a history buff but DH loves it. He chose this tour over Longwood Gardens tour or the trip to the Mall tour (lol good thing he picked).
Am looking forward to getting away this weekend but not crazy about putting the fur kids in a kennel (even though it's a very nice one, I will miss them).

Hi-
I live about 10 minutes away from the Valley Forge/King of Prussia area. I haven't been to the dinner theater, so I won't comment on that.
When I've been to Valley Forge, I've always done a self-guided tour in my car. This has been enough to satisfy me, but the official bus tour also sounds nice. It begins (I think) with a film in the visitor's center, followed by the bus tour. I doubt it lasts more than a couple hours, so you might be able to see the mall as well.
Will you have a car with you? If so, have you considered driving into Philadelphia? Its only about 30 minutes from Valley Forge (without traffic). They have a new Constitution Center, and from what I've heard, is very appealing, to both history and non-history buffs.

They have a great Disney Store.

Thanks Rick. It is a bus guided tour that we all will be on.. think DH said something about an electric map too? (could be getting Gettysburg mixed up in this). Yes, we will have our own transportation (DH's motto... have truck will travel [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img] ) I just did a check on the travel time and according to the Rand McNally site (which I just located) it's about 1hr 50min ride from our home to the Radisson Hotel. (wondering if that is allowing for Philly Traffic!) I doubt if DH would want to go into Philly for sight seeing but I have done the tour of historic sites there and loved it...
Ron, that is the mall I would have chosen to spend the afternoon in LOL. Wondering if we get there early enough on Friday he would take me to that Disney Store [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img] Especially since we will be spending the weekend alone (with no fur kids) together [img]graemlins/love.gif[/img]

Debe, I have been to Lily Langtry's and dreesy casual is fine there. ( A nice pair of slacks and a blouse or a polo shirt and khakis for your hubby.)
I have to tell you, I would have gone for the Longwood Gardens tour, myself! [img]images/icons/wink.gif[/img] We are annual pass memebrs there and it is beautiful! Anyway, I have done the tour also and I have to tell you, even my kids liked it!! It really is fun. They show you different markers where Washington actually was. It's not that long and it is very interesting! You'll like it!! Hope the weather is good for you!!

Thanks Tara, I told DH yesterday that I think he will need to put on something other than his "I'd Rather be Hunting/Fishing" t-shirts [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img] . Both our kids have been to Longwood Gardens and say it's beautiful especially if you go during the holidays. Looking forward to getting out of S.Jersey! (even if just for a weekend)

I agree with Tara...you should definitely try to squeeze in a trip to Longwood Gardens if you can.
You should have enough time to do both Longwood and the Battlefield if you get an early start.
Also, the Brandywine Battlefield is very close to Longwood, so maybe you could do that tour instead...

Well, it was a very nice weekend. We arrived around 3:30pm and was able to check right into our room. We then visited the hospitality room for our group and then headed back to the room to ready for dinner. We had dinner & a nice show (Stars on Ice) at Lilly Langtree's located right in our resort the Radisson Hotel in King of Prussia. We finished off the night at the hospitality room and then retired to our room by mid-night. It was a fun evening.
Saturday morning DH was up early and ran around the complex prior to breakfast. DH had a meeting from 8am till 11:15am (I visited the resort gift shop and ended up talking to the clerk for quite a while) & lunch was from 11:30 to 12:30pm then we hopped right on to a bus with two Professors who gave us the tour. The tour of Valley Forge was very nice and the weather was great! We were unable to go to Longwood Gardens as our open window time was 4 hrs.
We were back at the resort by 4pm. DH headed for the room to take a nap (he caught a cold) and I headed to the Lower Lever (convention center) where there was a Gem show. (didn't buy a thing there) I walked around and was back up to the room by 5pm where I took advantage of the jacuzzi (sp?) while DH snored away  . Woke him up around 6pm so that he could get into his dress blues as this was our formal banquet night (will try to post a photo when we get our picture packet from the photographer). Dinner was very good, the new officers were announced and the evening concluded around 10pm. We went back to the room to change. We now had to head off to the hospitality room where the theme was Mardi Gra! PURPLE T-shirts, flashy beads with hats & feathered masks. Was a good time... However, we left the party early (mid-night) as DH wasn't feeling too good. Once we were back in the room, he drifted off to lala land and I did my night before leaving packing (hate getting up and having to have to pack... do this at WDW too).
Sunday morning we were up early. Had breakfast and were "On The Road Again...." Of course, I had to have him make a detour trip to WalMart so that I could pick up more fabric for my quilting project. I was really at a loss this weekend... No internet, No PassPorter, No Sewing Maching, No Fur Kids... but it still was a nice trip 
Next year we travel to West Atlantic City (we know it as Pleasantville) which is just 30 minutes away  |

We pass through that area on our way to Lancaster which is one of our favorite weekend camping destinations and find it very confusing with all the road construction going on. We went about once a month from May to October and I took a wrong turn except for the last couple of times. Signs were either down or pointing to the wrong direction. 
Now I have the directions written on an index card. I had to learn that in order to go west on 202 I had to go east on 78. 
We got it down now. Of course next season the construction will have changed the traffic patterns again and I will be back in the same boat. Will they ever finish that road work in that area???
