As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Disappointed in WDW
We just came back from our magical family trip to WDW last Sunday. Everyone loved the resort we chose to stay at, Coronado Springs. Eveything was wonderful until Saturday when a trip back from Epcot, due to an afternoon storm, ended in an accident. We were staying in the Casistas, so we decided to get off at bus stop #1 instead of our usual stop #2 to avoid walking uncovered in the rain. As I stepped down from my seat in the back of the handicap bus, I lost my footing (the seat is raised from the aisle) and fell. Someone yelled for the bus driver to not drive on because I had fallen. I thought I had broken my leg, but found my leg was okay. My left arm on the other hand was bothering me quite a bit. We went inside the main building and I sat at a table at the bar while my husband went to get me ice. Since I thought I could have broken my arm, my daughter in law went to the front desk to find me medical help. A representative from the resort came back to check on me. She had also contacted security, the lifeguards, and the ems who all came to my aid and took reports. Th ems splinted my arm and gave my son directions to Celebration Health Center (Florida Hospital). We were told by the Coronado Springs resort rep that they would contact me later to see how I was doing. They never called or left a message on our room voice mail. At the hospital they x-rayed my arm and said it was a probably a contusion (a hairline fracture wouldn't show up fo several days if I had one). They gave me a brace and a sling and told me to ice my arm on and off for the next 24 hours. Not thinking it was a very bad injury, we continued to visit the parks. We stopped periodically to have my ice bag refilled as we walked around. Everyone was more than happy to do that for me. When we returned home, I contacted an orthopaedic doctor for followup. I had my x-rays from Florida with me, but the doctor decided he wanted an x-ray of my wrist. It turns out I broke my wrist. I am now in a cast for 8 weeks! It probably should have been x-rayed at the hospital in Florida too, since I had told them I fell on my arm. I can't say I ever saw a doctor in the er because no one ever introduced themselves to me as a doctor. It is a week now, and I still haven't heard from anyone from Disney. It was bad enough the bus driver never asked or came back on the bus to see if I was okay, but no one did a followup from WDW either. We will go back to WDW and Coronado Springs in the future because we love it there, but I'm surprised that didn't follow up to see how I am doing. Yes, in case you wonder, I emailed a letter to WDW guest relations, but they haven't contacted me either.

Re: Disappointed in WDW
WOW...I am so sorry to hear about what had happened!!
Sounds like there is a huge problem with the quality of Dr's at the clinic where you went....
Also sounds as though there is a problem with guest relations at CSR. I am not a big fan of this resort because of that....
I will interested to hear what happens...
And I really hope that your arm gets better soon....
In febuary, my family and I went into a furniture store to pick out a new bed for ourselves...my 4 yr old opened a door to a dresser.....and while she did that5, it came toppling down onto her....mind you...it was huge....
The store admitted that there was a manufactureres problem with the piece, as the base was not wide enough to support the width, and that is the reason why it fell.....
The piece was well over 150 lbs.....DD was severly bruised all over her body....including her face and arms...
The chain store NEVER even called a apologised. Some people say that we should get a lawyer....but we just are not like that. But an I'm Sorry would have been nice....

I'm so sorry to hear about your fall and I hope you're not in too much pain now. I too would be really disappointed with Disney - that's not the level of customer service we all expect from them and I hope you hear something back soon from the e-mail you sent them. I'm glad it hasn't put you off a return trip in the future.

Re: Disappointed in WDW
I'm so sorry for your fall, and am shocked that the bus driver didn't even check on you!
Sounds like the biggest problem is the Hospital. Missing a break like that!
It does sound like the resort did everything they could for you at the time though....calling security, lifeguards, ems.
It would have been nice if they had checked up on you though like they said.
Hope your wrist is feeling better soon!

As far as Disney is concerned, I would feel disappointed too! Someone should have contacted you that night, let alone after your trip!!! I'm hoping it was just some form of miscommunication on their part. Here's hoping they contact you within the next few days. If not, I'd be on the phone with them, explaining how you feel!

Re: Disappointed in WDW
I'm so sorry that you had such a negative experience at Disney World. It's bad enough that you took a spill but there really is no excuse for the CSR folks to have not followed up with checking up on you. I'm sure you'll hear back from Disney regarding your letter and I'll be interested in hearing what they have to say.

Re: Disappointed in WDW
Thanks all for your good wishes and concern. This afternoon when I got home there was a message to call WDW concerning the email I wrote them last week. I called back, but got voice mail. I will try again tomorrow and will let you know what happens.
