As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We have BOG breakfast reservations. Does the Beast make an appearance during QS time periods? My ds wants to get a peek inside and doesn't care much about the meal.
What might be different between qs and TS time periods?
What might be different between qs and TS time periods?
QS there is fairly similar in how it's done elsewhere.
There are a few differences other than menu between BOG QS and other QS.
At BOG, you order from a computer kiosk if you didn't pre-order online. You find your own table, and a CM with a cart delivers your food to your table. You pick up your drinks and flatware/napkins at stations along one wall of the room where you choose to sit which is similar. Unlike other QS, you'll have real plates and utensils.
Even though you choose which room you like, not all three rooms are likely to be open at breakfast. When we did it a few years ago, the spectacular West Wing Room was closed. That one, of course, has all the drama of the thunderstorm, the Prince/Beast slashed portrait and Belle's rose. It's also The ONE most people really want to see.
Dinner at BOG is just about like any other TS; you'll be seated with little to no choice of where. You order from a menu and are served.
You get a few glimpses of Beast walking through the middle room, the Ballroom, if sitting in it. His break area is near the West Room, and he strides across the Ballroom to his study where he does the Meet & Greet. You go there after your meal. It's a fun M&G with the drawback of being only at dinner.
Unless the rest of the family really wants to eat there, you may want to switch to somewhere else for breakfast. Your DS will be quite disappointed, I expect.

I wouldnot pay out of pocket for breakfast at BOG. It's prix fix and we found many more times the food that we would need or want to eat.
IMHO a late lunch is the best time to check out the place. We ate at 1:30 and by the time we finsihed, it was pretty well cleared out-you could see all three rooms. We found lunch good and reasonably priced. We also found when we arrived for lunch it was very noisy (one of my dislikes about most Disney dining.) After a bit, the people left and you could hear yourself think.

I can always depend on you for honest restaurant info. DD and DisSis are the only ones going in for a peak.
The rest of us will make due with Cinnamon Buns from Gaston's Tavern.

DD and DisSis swear that since it's a QS they might just order beverages. They are silly!
I agree with you about the noise levels in restaurants, although we have been known to get loud and feisty ourselves.

Weeeelll, I imagine they could do that if they really want to. Do they realize they'll be paying $24.00 each for those beverages, though?
You can't order a single item at BOG breakfast and pay only for it as at other QS. Each adult pays $24 and gets a shared pastry platter for the table, an entree and non-alcoholic beverage. Or, in their case, a couple of VERY pricey coffees.
Sorry about my not mentioning the most important difference between BOG breakfast and other QS. I thought you likely were aware it's prix fixe, a set price for x-many items per person whether you want all that or not as Huntermom pointed out.

Try lunch if you just want a look at the restaurant. My husband highly recommends the soups, which can be had for a snack credit. The dessert items are small but very good, also for a snack credit. You could just get one of those and coffee and enjoy the ambiance. We like sitting in the Music Box room, which seems a bit smaller and less noisy than the other two (maybe all the padding on the seats). Do order online in advance of your visit to save time.

So we haven't been able to get an ADR for any times on our MK day/night or the evening of MVMCP. Is it possible to enter just to have a look in the seating area without a ressie? What are the chances of a late night walk in?
No, sorry to disappoint, there's no way of entering just to look. Must have an ADR. The place is way too popular for them to be able to accommodate "peekers."
You might get a late-night walkup depending on when you try, better chance during less busy seasons, of course.
General reader tip: If late August through just before Christmas, be sure to check the Halloween and Christmas party schedules. BOG closes at 6:00 p.m. on those nights.

As Dot said, you can't just walk in to look around. However, I would keep trying to get an ADR; I've changed mine at BOG as close as twenty days out, and they do sometimes have space on the same day if you are flexible on your dining time. It wouldn't hurt to ask when you arrive at the park to see if there are any openings.

That's a good tip. It does happen as we've overheard people ask if there was ANYthing for dinner and get it.
Day before or day of can be surprisingly lucky at times.
