As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

You guys!! After running my very first 5K in a not so great time, I just signed up for the 10K on February 25th for the Princess Half Marathon weekend!! I must be nuts!! But!
Here is my reasoning:
1. I get to renew my AP.
2. I can switch to the 5K if I punk out (which I am not planning on!)
3. I really love running! I hope 9 months and a few more 5K's will get me where I need to be!!
The bite you sustained can cause soreness and fatigue. However, the bite also causes happiness, burns off stress, and allows one to eat as many donuts and Mickey Bars as the victim wishes once she finishes a RunDisney race. (Please note that you cannot eat Dole Whips after a race - it's not allowed )
You will have plenty of time to allow this bite to build from that 5k to the 10k before February.
Signed,
Just don't get bit by the swim and bike before you run bug 'cause that's one crazy bug..
PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
You've caught the running bug. Congrats. I caught it last year.
Just stick to your training plan. I'm not fast. It is t about speed it is about starting.

Super excited for you!!!
Thank you Robin also for the encouragement in your very special and unique way!! I am becoming an addict!!
Congrats!! You have sooooo much time to prepare for the 10K. No worries, you will finish with plenty of time, even stopping for a few photos! And then you will sign up for a half marathon next.
It's only logical.

I can not give you much beyond continued encouragement as I do not run nor can I ever. I totally love your determination and I think with your son as a training partner you are in a very good place for succeeding at your 1st 10k. Keep us posted with your training. Go Tara Go!

. Thanks, Tanya!! I sure hope so. I really love running. I feel like I started a little late in life though and I hope I can build up to he 10K. Right now, 3.1 is my limit and I have read so many different training programs that I am a bit confused on how to proceed from here.

. I really hope I can keep going, Robin!! I honestly feel like I found my happy spot with running. I am already signed up for two more 5K races!! BUT! Like I said to Tanya, there is so much information out there on how to increase your distance that I am thoroughly confused.
Running is an experiment of one. There is no solid and true training program. What works for me may not work for you. And what works for me on Monday may not work for me on Thursday! totally true, I had a terrible, terrible run today.
Start with whatever program looks best to you. If you don't like it, try another one. Or just go old school like I did when I started - just run as many minutes as you can tolerate, walk until you can breathe comfortably again, and then run again. Over time, you add more running minutes, and then more distance. Lather, rinse, repeat..... eventually you will figure out your own pattern, or "program." And this is what works for you!
I've been running for 10 years and I'm still tweaking everything that I do. There's no set pattern for me, that's for sure! Just when I think I get something figured out, something on/in my body says, 'what do you think you're doing?' and then I have to start all over again. It's the nature of the beast. Be patient, be flexible, and just get the distance in. You can totally do it!!

Is there a local running club? They may have fun runs/ training runs. And you can meet people in your same position. We are starting " Abe's Army" which is a 10k training program for a local race. We get divided by ability. Last year for my first 10k I was in a group that intervals of 3 minutes running 1 minute walking. We built up to that and supported each other when we were having a bad day.

That is sage advice and makes a lot of sense!! Even with running shorter distances, I already do better some days than others. For no particular reason! Tanya, I cannot thank you enough for your experienced advice and encouragement!!. I think you are stuck with my questions and issues now, though!

That is an awesome idea!! We have a local running store and I'll bet those guys know where I can find a club!! Thank you!!!
I just want to say Passporter truly is the best place to come for advice, encouragement and even sympathy!!! You guys all around ROCK!!
Yay, welcome to your new healthy addiction! You think you have been bitten from running a 5k? Just wait until you run a runDisney race. They are so much fun! You totally have enough time to train too. Personally, I think the first 3 miles are the hardest. Your body just seems to settle in after 3 miles...
P.S. - I am running the Princess 10k too and the half. I'm so excited!!

Thank you for the awesome encouragement!!. I am doing my next 5K on Saturday and I seriously am looking forward to it!! I joined our local running club and the people are amazing!! I really do have a ways to go, but I am determined!!
Oh my gosh!! I am now running the Wine and Dine 10K instead!! since we were going to WDW anyway in November, Muffin asked me if there wasn't a way I could enter this race instead.
When we went on the Run Disney site, the 5k and the 10K were both sold out. Except!! If you sponsored a charity. Muffin and I are all about helping good causes, so we looked through the charities and found one that we liked. We are now proud sponsers of Sophie and Madigans playground and it looks like I will be attempting this race a lot earlier than planned!!
On the flip side..................I contacted Run Disney and was able to get 60 bucks back from the Princess 10K. I can only hope that the rest of my race fee will go to charity.
Anyway! I can still only run about 3.5 miles and am looking for encouragement to make up the difference. I run every single day and as Disney_duke told me, some days are better than others!!!
Congrats!!! And you're in great shape already for training. Slowly add on a few more miles, bit by bit, and you'll be more than ready come November. No doubt in my mind. Awesome!!!
And bit by bit - I mean add on like 3 minutes one week, 5 minutes the next week, etc...
