Delayed arrival for ADR at BOG-what will happen? - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We have booked the 8:00 Keys to the Kingdom tour in late January (low crowd day) and have an ADR at 1:05 for BOG. The tour is 5 hours and ends near the front of the park, so it is doubtful we will be able to arrive at BOG by 1:05. I will tell the tour guide about the ADR, but since the tour ends with the utilidors we won't be able to simply walk away early. This is a short celebration trip to WDW and our only day at MK -- rescheduling is not an option. What happens if you arrive late for your ADR? Is there anything I can do? (Of course, I will keep checking for a later ADR.)
Were you aware that you will be stopping at Tomorrowland Terrace for lunch during the tour and the meal is included in the cost of the tour? During the break perhaps you can run over and tell them at BOG that you will be late. Or perhaps you can keep trying for a later reservation time since you will have already eaten lunch during the tour.

I've taken this tour several times (none recently, however) and it always included lunch in the tour and the cost of the tour. Of course, you may be planning to just do dessert at BOG for the experience, in which case it wouldn't matter. I think you can make it with your 15 min. grace period, but you might want to have the faster person in your party move ahead as fast as possible to the check in line.
When I took it a few years back they included Lunch at the columbia harbour house and gave us a menu at the beginning of the tour to order in advance what we wanted and when we got to it it was in a section off area of the restaurant.

Thanks to all. I should have mentioned that I know lunch is included with the tour, but we prefer to dine at BOG. We do not plan to eat the meal included with the tour.
When we took the tour in November our tour ran over by about 30-40 minutes.

Our tour went over as well, but I'm beginning to think that the time spent for lunch isn't included in the "tour time" so when they say "a five hour tour" they mean 5 hours actually touring and they don't include the time spent eating lunch in that.
If that is the case, then you probably won't be done with an 8:00 tour until 1:30 at the earliest.
Keep trying for a later BOG time, but if you don't get one, you'll probably miss your 15 minute window. I think I would eat the tour lunch as you'll probably have to rely on walk up seating and I'm not even sure if they do that anymore.

Personally, I would eat the tour lunch that I had paid for and save the money (unless they only have seafood options, bleah). But since that's not your plan, I have a couple of suggestions:
I would call the dining reservation line and talk to a CM. This has surely come up before, plus this may give them an incentive to help find you another time slot.
Alternatively, let your tour guide know that you're jumping ship at 12:55 (or whatever time you feel you need to skedaddle). You can't just do a fade, since you need to return your tour headsets, but the tour guide will surely be helpful. I took two tours at DLR and the guides were uniformly helpful and friendly.

The only problem with this is that the tour ends in the utilidors. The OP's group would have to be escorted out and that could disrupt the tour for the others. Additionally, if mine and others' experiences hold true, the timing could be such that there could be another 30-40 minutes left of the tour at 12:55. Even if the guide was willing to arrange for the OP to be escorted out at 12:55, they would miss a large portion of the utilidors. BOG lunch is good, but not worth that IMO.
When we did the tour in November they said they no longer did the lunch at Columbia Harbour House and now did it at Tomorrowland Terrace instead. A few days later we did lunch at BOG and truthfully I was not impressed with the food. While we were checking in someone came up and asked how long the wait was without a reservation and they were told at least 2 1/2 hours and probably longer. She told them she doubted they would even be able to get in at all. So they are discouraging walk-ups. Yes the tour does end with the utilitidors and our guide actually told us before going in that we would not be able to leave the group once we went through the doors to enter the utilidors.

Diff'rent strokes since we like the BOG lunch. It's not the best sandwiches anywhere at Disney (what we have had although we could've ordered otherwise). However, they're sandwiches that suit us better than any elsewhere in the MK.
Truthfully, if we didn't need to be carb-conscious, we'd go there and order coffees with a couple of desserts each.
Yeah, doesn't sound like trying to do the tour and BOG lunch both is workable.

Thanks, all. I will call and speak to a cast member about modifying the ADR and if that doesn't work keep trying online. We enjoy the braised pork at BOG. During vacation I want to thoroughly enjoy my calories and I'm really not interested in the food at CHH or TT. Unfortunately this is a short three day visit after our cruise and at this point it would be impossible to retool the schedule. If it doesn't work out for BOG we'll graze at CHH or TT and plan on a nice dinner elsewhere. (Besides, we've done BOG twice and my new thing is to try new things when we're at the World.)
