As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

After 32 years of marriage, I learned that my DH would like a dessert every night. My DD agreed with him. I've never been a baker, so I guess I will be learning some new skills. I also plan on lots of fresh fruit, ice cream, yogurt, etc.

This won't help much probably, but we sometimes have "dessert dessert."
DH must eat some ice cream after dinner because of a medicine he takes, so that's his usual dinnertime dessert. I often skip dessert unless eating out. Otherwise, I'll have a square of high quality chocolate.
But, we may have what we call dessert-dessert, typically eaten after finishing an actual dessert: Werther's caramel popcorn from WDW's Karamell Küche if we still have some from a recent trip, from the bagged Werther's sold at Walgreens and Walmart if we don't. Yummy YUM!
Baking can be great fun! Be sure to measure precisely as it's more science than art.

We never have dessert after dinner because I hate to bake. Sometimes we'll have left over birthday cake or Christmas cookies but that only happens a few times a year. In the summertime, we like to walk to the local ice cream shop for a treat after dinner which we usually do about once week.

No, we don't do dessert every night. It's more a special occasion (birthday. Thanksgiving or Christmas) or a just because (I go to the store and feel like something I see) thing for us so we don't have it often.
We have dessert every night but it isn't always something elaborate. We are trying to be careful about what we eat since we have an athlete in the house. It can just be a small candy or a couple of store bought cookies. My daughter will cut up strawberries and put some low fat whipped cream or a small cup of frozen yogurt. The reason dessert is had after dinner because it is believed to cut down on the acid in your stomach and aid digestion. Even if it isn't true we are running with that idea

Naw. The real reason is eating dessert sweetens the disposition, helping you to get along better with others. Dessert makes you happier, and happy people live longer.

I never had dessert until I got married. DH needs some kind of dessert after lunch and dinner. I don't bake that often because I'm trying to lose weight and it's just the two of us at home now. But DH is good with a Fiber One treat at lunch and then either ice cream or a few cookies at dinner. If you want to stay healthy, I'd go with the fruit: strawberries with whipped cream, an orange, apple slices, etc.

No, we don't. But - my grandparents used to. Lots of fruit, yogurt, sometimes a small scoop of sherbet or ice-cream. Every now and then a cookie or two.
I just started a new diet - NO sweets, however, once every couple of days I allow myself a very nice treat - a small, cut up apple and some cheddar cheese.
You could do baked apples, we had those a few weeks ago. Cut out the core of the apple, but don't cut all the way through. put cinnamon sugar in the hole, top with a pat of butter, wrap in foil, and either set on the edge of the fire (like we did) for about an hour, or bake in the oven at 350° for about 30 minutes.

My Nana used to make me those as an after school treat on cold days!
No need to wrap apples in foil when oven baking them. Just set them in a shallow baking dish. They'll do just fine.
I like to fill the center with real butter, golden raisins, a few shakes of cinnamon and a bit of nutmeg then pour a mixture of half apple cider (or juice if you haven't a good cider) and half real maple syrup over them. (You can use brown sugar in the centers if real maple syrup doesn't fit your budget.) You can add chopped nuts if you like. My mom used to stuff a big marshmallow in each shortly before they're done so it got all toasty and gooey.
Part of the fun is tinkering with the amounts to get a combo your family likes and to adjust based on personal tastes.
Check as they bake, adding more cider/juice/water as needed to keep a bit of liquid in the dish to prevent scorching. Test with a fork after about 20-30 minutes at 350 to see if as done as you like. The fork should enter easily.

ice cream is my go-to dessert since it involves no cooking and can be kept in the freezer for a period of time. cookies are next, store-made or homemade but rarely from the cookie aisle.
Only on special occasions like Thanksgiving and Christmas do we ever eat a dessert. If I do eat one on any other day it usually will involve mixed fruit and whipped cream.
