A Trip full of Be Our Guest food, Greek food, and Seafood (August 2016) - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

A Trip full of Be Our Guest food, Greek food, and Seafood (August 2016)
Hello there! I had done a Pretrip report and knew it would be a challenge getting around to the actual trip report because school was starting as soon as I returned. I didn't imagine it would take until November to actually get it started. I suppose I should be glad to finally have the time at all. It was a fantastic trip. I went by myself, without my family, which is unheard of for me.
I am Amy, Disney planner, teacher, wife, and mom to teenage boys. The plan was to have a short trip staying at Pop Century, with my high school friend Heather, then head to her house for a couple of days. I also met up with my buddy Mark, whom my family adopted last Thanksgiving. He calls me his Disney mom, and he is my Disney Kid.
This trip all came about because of very cheap Southwest tickets, an annual pass burning a hole in my pocket, and some very good friends wanting to spend some time with me. Also a husband who was willing to take me to the airport and only grumble a little how I had two trips to Disney and he had none that summer.
My flight left at 6:30 am. I met some Disney fans in line and we got to chatting about our trips. We became in real life friends and have continued communicating since then. Disney brings people together! We landed right on time, and before I knew it, I was on the Magical Express. My room wasn't ready yet. Oh, did I mention I had been awake since 2 am? No big deal, I could rest that afternoon, right?
I didn't have to wait long before we were on our way. It wasn't long at all before I was officially Home.
First, we stopped at Art of Animation, and then Pop Century.
I got straight off the Magical Express and got straight in the line for the bus to Magic Kingdom. It was 10 am. Before I knew it I was walking down Main Street.
And I was starving. I messaged my friend Mark, but stopped to watch the new Frendship Faire show.
Mark found me and we headed back for a snack. Can you guess where?
Mark decided that a cinnamon roll was in order. I have not had one from Gaston's yet so I was fully on board with splitting one with him. I also got ice water. They aren't kidding when they say these things are as big as your head.
So what did I think of it? Well for starters I am not a huge maple syrup fan, and this has maple flavoring in the icing. But frankly, I was so hungry I didn't notice. I wolfed my half down. We had a lot of fun catching up and planning for the day. Heather wouldn't be joining us until about 3:30. I had dinner reservations for Heather and I at Be Our Guest that night, and I wasn't able to get one for Mark. We discussed our options for this, and decided if they said no to adding him to the reservation that we would meet up afterward.
Mark was working on a project. He had gotten a princess calendar at the dollar store and was working to get all of the princesses to sign it. He just needed Ariel, so we headed over there.
I had the book "Everything I Needed to Know I learned from Disney" and I had her sign that. Photopass pictures to come later. While I was having my meet and greet, mark was fanning the Photographer with a piece of cardboard from his calendar. She proclaimed that he was the best person in the world and he was a keeper. I said his girlfriend was a wonderful person and she was a keeper too. We were just good friends. I honestly hadn't even thought about people thinking anything else! Anyway, we got a good laugh out of that and moved on.
I love the light fixtures in the Ariel que.
We got in line for Enchanted Tales with Belle. The standby line was about 30 minutes. Unfortunately about ten minutes into our wait it stopped working, so we were given Fastpasses.
By now I was hungry again, so we went to Mark's favorite place, Friar's Nook. The pot roast macaroni and cheese was my treat. This time we didn't split.
This was honestly better than I thought it would be. The pot roast had good flavor and the macaroni was more cheesy than soupy.
We actually brought these over to Pinnochio Haus to eat. There were also big containers of ice water set up for people to rehydrate. It was warm but honestly it had been more hot in June. I was happy about that.
It was time for a bio break. The only restrooms worth a picture.
Then we decided to ride Pirates of the Caribbean. That was a fun ride. I had a coworker friend also in Magic Kingdom that day so we arranged a meet up at Splash Mountain.

What a great idea to use "Everything I needed to know I learned from Disney" as an autograph book! I've seen that several times, but never purchased it. Now I have a great reason to get it!
You are having a great day so far!
I hope they let you add Mark to your reservation at Be our Guest.
Wish I'd seen water stations when we were there in September! I'd have been all over that!

It is the perfect autograph book. I will admit that the water from there definitely had the swamp water taste. Ice water from Star bucks turned out to be the best.
Great start to your day in the Magic Kingdom. Who is everyone in the photo in the gift shop?
