As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

This is kind of ridiculous.
I have 600 photos that are in 35 different groups to download, which is a pain.
In addition, one of the groups, no matter how many times I refresh is still grayed out and not able to download.
My other complaint is that after downloading, the pictures are no longer in order.
You'd think they'd have figured out a more efficient way to do this by now!

In addition to the one file that will not download, I also have several duplicate files which is making things pretty confusing. I'm just trying to make sure I have all my photos.
I hear you. I'm an AP holder and have 100's of pictures from the past year. I've downloaded many, but now can't even edit the pictures. I've emailed them and done all they suggested to no avail. My next step is to call tech support when I finally have time to try that. It's very frustrating. When it does work I have to download them 1 at a time, which is also very frustrating. There should be a way to select a group and download them together. Download all doesn't work since I have several former trips where I have already downloaded and I can't "deselect" them.
I agree. I can't download one of mine. It's been 5 days bi'ce sent an email for help and they have responded that they have received my email, but no help yet. For the price we pay for this, what's the problem of putting them on a CD. Charging $30 for it is ridiculous!!

Agreed! I'd much rather have the CD! So much easier than this download process.

I downloaded all, and now am in that same boat. I went through each day and determined the photos I'm missing. But I can't download them individually because it tells me they are already in "my downloads." Grrr!

Have you tried checking that your computers web browser is the most up-to-date version of the browser? If I remember right that is one of the things that made my downloads work better.
I think WillCad had some tips in the PhotoPass Primer (pinned to the top of this forum).
As for individual photos... If you access your photopass via the Disney app you can download individual photos there and then transfer them to your computer (and then all of them to a memory stick for safe keeping)
Hopefully you get all your photos soon.
Photopass is a wonderful idea I just with they'd spend some money on it. Now that the magicbands make the photos and ride photos so easy it should be as easy to get your photos.
I'm sure there are a few dozen people in computer science programs in university that would love to fix the program as a term project.

I've got to agree with the others, at least partially. The download process is needlessly complicated and could be easily fixed if Disney made the PP site operate more like a standard online photo gallery.
My biggest gripe, aside from all of the extra steps needed for bulk downloads (add to downloads, download all, wait until they're zipped, click download multiple times to get the zip files), is the file naming convention. Last time I downloaded photos, the file names were nearly useless to me, because I like to sort my photos chronologically.
Worse still, the file names of the copies made when you add borders or stickers, or crop or rotate, have no relationship to the file name of the original version.
And the PhotoPass photographers all had their cameras set to different time zones.
I don't want to duplicate a rant, so I'll just link to a rant I made in 2015 after I downloaded a bunch of photos from a recent trip. I. Need. To. VENT! (About PhotoPass)
My most recent PhotoPass experience was in November 2015, and they had not yet fixed any of those issues. Too complex, I guess.

When I saw that you had responded, I thought maybe you had some answers, but if you are having the same difficulties as everyone else, then I guess there are no answers!

Yep. Checked every bit of that out on their email advice. When I responded to them that none of that worked, their answer was to call tech support.
When I saw that you had responded, I thought maybe you had some answers, but if you are having the same difficulties as everyone else, then I guess there are no answers!
This reminds me of the old Christian inspiration saying: "God answers all prayers, but sometimes the answer is no."
In the technical world, there are always answers - sometimes more than one. Usually, the answer is, "Reboot." Sometimes it's, "Sorry, I know it's a pain, but you're just going to have to work around that." Once in a while it's, "You wanna do what?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh, wait, you're serious? Um..."
I had a lot of success tonight, but it finally ended. I was able to edit all of my pictures and download most of them. Then the bubble burst and downloading "died." At least I'm closer than I was and haven't called Tech Support yet. It is indeed a very frustrating situation. Also, because I have had to wait so long, I no longer have access to borders and stickers from the Flower & Garden Festival. It would seem that since AP holders have a year to download their pictures that they would make all seasonal borders, etc. available all year long now.
Glad you had some success. I haven't had a chance to try downloading today. Maybe tomorrow.
I wish they had a better selection of borders. I use the same three or four over and over. You're right, they should have the seasonal borders available all year!
