Just a little Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust to get us back to Disney! PTR - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just a little Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust to get us back to Disney! PTR
Hello, everyone!!
I cannot tell you how beyond excited I am to finally be writing a PTR!! I know it's a little early, but I can't help myself!
Ok...let me back up a bit...
I have been to WDW many times since I was a kid and I passed on my Disney love to the rest of my family. We were going pretty frequently for awhile...but then life happened. Kids' schedules, house projects, and some health issues interfered with me getting my Disney fix for the last 6 years! That's right...we haven't been back to WDW since 2010!!!
Over that time, we would occasionally get mail from Disney taunting us with promo codes or special offers. I would always say to my husband "See? Disney misses us...we have to go back"
Finally...one of those magical cards came in the mail and I said the same thing I always do...and my husband said "Just book it!". He said that we're always waiting for the "right" time and life gets in the way. Kids are getting older and it's time to go back!
So...here are the details:
11/16-11/21 (last 2 days at Universal, that's new for us!)
Staying at POFQ (for now...really hoping for a fall promo that will get us to BWI or WL)
Cast:
Me- 38 years old (how did that happen??), lover of all things Disney!
DH- 42 years old, puts up with my love of Disney and even encourages it at times
Here is a pic of all of us on the last day of our last visit in 2010...this was the last time I was at my favorite place in the world...
Now for the kids...
DD- A girl after my own heart...she has all the love for Disney that I do...and more! She is almost 16 years old, heading into her Junior year of high school. She is planning to do the Disney College program and hoping to get into something where she can perform. She dances pretty much 7 days/week and loves it!
DS- My little daredevil He is 11 years old and headed to middle school this fall He was almost 5 on our last trip and only remembers bits and pieces, although he does remember being upset that he wasn't tall enough for EE and RnRC. He's excited that he'll be able to ride everything this time!
So...remember that pic up there of all of us from our last visit? Just to reiterate how long it's been...here are those little ones now... (and a bonus pic of DH )

Thanks for joining in, everyone!! We've been away on vacation since my last update and things have been crazy getting ready for school to start up! I'm always surprised when August sneaks up on me...I don't know why...it happens every year, but I always find myself wondering where the summer went...
So...a few changes since my first post...
Most important: we added a day I was looking at flights and found that we could fly cheaper on the evening flight the day before we were supposed to arrive. DH wasn't sure about the added hotel cost, so we discussed it a bit....
Pros:
-A flight at 6pm seems much more manageable than the original 7am flight (and the 3am wake up call that would require)
-We avoid morning commuter traffic and business travelers in the security lines early in the morning
-We get a full night's sleep, wake up already in WDW and ready to hit the parks
-And...I mean, it's extra Disney time....that's worth a lot right there, am I right???
Cons:
-Cost of the hotel room for one more night
The decision was pretty easy...we are now headed to Disney as soon as the kids get home from school on 11/15! Woohoo!!
Now, I've been waiting and waiting for the late fall promos to come out. I was so hoping that something really great would be available for our dates and I'd be able to upgrade to BWI or WL. However, all my hopes were dashed when the promo finally came out this week. The discount is minimal and there is almost no availability for my dates...
Oh well...can't feel too bad about it, I'm going to DISNEY after all! And POFQ looks beautiful, I can't wait to see it in person!
But....in looking for deals, I came across a promotion from a travel agency for my dates. I typically don't use a TA, but I thought I would just see what the quote was. Guess what?? It was $500 less than my current package with Disney, which was a pin code!!
With the $500 I saved, I was able to go ahead and get our MVMCP tickets!! And I'm still about $100 ahead...even with that extra day we added
Now...only 36 days until our FP+ day....need to start thinking about those!
We've stayed at POFQ several times and really loved it! It's so quaint! It's so nice to walk back to your room in the evening, along the cute little streets lit by the street lamps. And the location right on the Sassagula River is perfect! It's such a small resort that even if you're in one of the farthest buildings, it's less than a 5 minute walk to the main building.
