As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We have to check k out at 11, but don't catch DME until 4. My girls want to go to Epcot to use up snack credits. When do the magic bands stop working? I'd hate to think of them being told their bands were invalid. Sorry if this has been asked before; I searched but couldn't find any info
Tickets are valid for 14 days following the first time they are used. Note, your girls will (of course) need a day's worth of Park Admission still on their tickets, to be able to get into EPCOT. That includes both Park admissions, and any "Waterpark Fun And More" options remaining on them.
Dining plan credits on your MagicBands should still be good through midnight of the day you check out.
The bands themselves have a battery good for about two years of operation.
Yes, your Magic Bands will still enable using dining or snack credits until midnight of the day you check out. And, as Pax said, you can enter Epcot as long as you haven't used all your park tickets. Your Magic Bands won't stop allowing park entry or access to dining and snack credits as long as you haven't used all of those already.
The one thing to be aware of is that your room charge, if you activated it, will usually be closed out fairly early on checkout day. You could ask that it be left open longer if need be. We usually don't and simply use cash or a credit card for checkout day expenses so that we can look over our statement the day before we leave to be certain there are no mistakes.
You can also ask for a little more time in your room since your flight is fairly late in the day. That will often be granted if the resort isn't terribly busy and needing to prep rooms quickly for incoming guests. You probably have a better chance of an extension without an additional charge when leaving mid-week since rooms cost more on weekends anyway. Doesn't hurt to ask to do that if holding your room a bit later than 11:00 would be helpful.

This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
Just for the record, I have often done room charge after check out. As long as Disney has a credit card on file, I believe they will be more than happy to take your money. It just shows up as a later, separate, charge on the card.

Yes, you're undoubtedly correct that Disney is highly unlikely to refuse to take more bucks from anyone.
I should probably have said that we just prefer to get purchases and snack credit shopping done the day before in order to check our statement fairly late that day. In fact, we've only rarely had enough dining credits left to eat breakfast on checkout day.

You are still a guest until midnight on the day you check out, so if you have ticket days or meals available, you can still use them up with your MBs. We often get a meal or shop after check-out. We also once checked out of Music and into the Swan (which doesn't do meal plan or have MBs) and used our last couple of DP credits over at the Boardwalk for dinner that evening. I have charged things the last morning with my band in the resort shop and the charges just followed me home a few days later.
The bands themselves are just a way to get access to your tickets, room, dining plan and charging privileges; there is nothing stored on them, just a computer access code, so they don't really "expire." Sadly, your vacation does.

Everything went smoothly. The kids managed to hit both Epcot and MK to get snacks, while I went to DS to do some shopping. Hubby camped out in the hotel lobby, watching all our carry-ons. After the mess-up with boarding passes, he didn't trust the hotel anymore.
The night before we left, The hotel had checked us in to our airline while I was in the park. then printed out the boarding passes. Not knowing they had already done that, I checked us in using my phone, and was able to snag upgrades for the girls. When we checked our luggage in, the guy at Resort Check In at first refused to print up new boarding passes. Then he printed up the old ones again and said they were valid. We had to get quite stern with him to get the new ones printed.

If you were staying on property, you could have had them all stored with Luggage Services. Yes, even in the Values. It's a separate service entirely, run by pople completely different/separate from those behind the front desk.
