As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Which Epcot resort would you recommend for adult brother and sister. We are in the process of planning our Spring 2017 Disney trip. We would like to stay at one of the Epcot resorts for the first time. All recommendations would be welcomed. Thanks in advanced.
They are all great. Really, it depends on your personal preference. The pool area shared by Yacht Club and Beach Club is really great. If you want a mini-water park for down time, maybe one of those. But really, you can't go wrong with any of the Epcot resorts.
I've only stayed at BWI, so I can recommend that. The location of any of the Epcot resorts is great. Walk or boat to 2 parks, fun things going on on the Boardwalk, surrey bikes, etc. I'd decide what kind of theming you want...No matter what you decide, you will be fine!

I really like the Boardwalk Inn. YC and BC are nice to.
Depending on your needs, the Swan and Dolphin might be worth looking into as well. You get some of the extras from Disney like Fastpasses and bussing to the parks. But you can't use the free transport to/from the airport and no dining plan.
We're staying at the Dolphin in July as the price was a lot lower and we didn't need the dining plan. I am going to have to arrange transport to the airport home.
We stayed at the Beach Club Villas and loved it. Its my favorite resort so far!
From what I understand, if you're in the Yacht Club, you need to travel to the Beach Club for coffee in the AM. We were in the BCV, so coffee was nearby! Seating at the counter service restaurant is a little on the sparse side though.
The pool is awesome and you're right there by Beaches and Cream.

Nope, YC has coffee and continental breakfast in the morning in the lounge just off the lobby.
But if you want to get a hot breakfast "traveling" to BC is only a 5 min walk.

I would pick YC or BC. They are really 2 sides of the same resort with different theming. I have a slight pref for YC because all rooms have full balconies, and the lobby is quieter. BC lobby can be very crowded with families waiting for seating at Cape May which is just off lobby. And only half the rooms have full balconies.
But both are great. I just need a full balcony. For some it's not important.
SAB is a great pool complex and I love floating around the lazy river.
I've stayed at all 3 and love them for different reasons. It really depends on what your looking for and if you don't have a preference aid suggest going with whatever one has the best deal! The BWI/BWV (I've stayed both) have a livelier atmosphere. YC was calm, quiet and beautiful. Loved the Marketplace at BC and the quick hop to Epcot. As you can tell, our fam loves the Epcot resorts, lol
I've stayed at all three, and hands down I'd choose the Beach Club. It's my favorite resort on property, and you can't beat the location or the amazing pool.
The Beach Club would be my choice. We love the easy walk to Epcot (although it's a pretty easy walk for all). You really can't make a bad choice. All are great. And you can pop over to any of the resorts easily to eat or shop. It's fun to tour other resorts IMHO. The location is terrific.
I heartily agree that which you choose depends upon what atmosphere and decor you prefer.
We get overstimulated in the parks and want a quiet resort so decided with no hesitation that YC will be best for us. It's very close to Epcot's back door (International Gateway) and thus convenient to our fave area, World Showcase. If we want to get to a park fairly quickly, easy enough to walk to Epcot or hop the boat to there or DHS depending on our moods.
BC is simply too noisy for us since it attracts lots of families with young kids. Too much going on there.
BWI seems nice enough as far as the resort itself, but again, we can do without that much nighttime activity so near our resort. We get more than enough things to do when touring. It's important to us to have a break from the "go-and-do" when at our resort.
Decide what you need most in a resort and choose on that basis would be my advice.

I agree that all three are equally convenient to walk to Epcot. If they want a quick service in the hotel itself, stay at Beach Club. If they don't mind walking a little to Trattoria al Fiornio (which I have heard from friebds who have dined there recently is amazing) or Boardwalk Bakery for breakfast, go with Board Walk Inn.
For me I would say Boardwalk only because as lovely as Beach Club was, when we stayed there several years ago our visit was dampened by construction (that I was never notified was going on) and a room full of loud teenagers/yong adults partying loud and waking us up 4 nights during our stay at 3 AM. We would see loads of empty beer cans outside their room every morning!!. We would call security to come after they would wake us up (it would take several calls for them to come) , in hindsight I wish that I had went to the front desk to complain to the desk maanger instead of suffering like that! It ruined our trip to the point where every time I think of the Beach club, it brings back memories of being woken up every night at 3am...sigh.

I beg to differ. The YC Ale and Compass lounge, in the lobby, has coffee, juice, cereal, pastries, yogurt, and an egg sandwich. Then there is the Captain's Grille, which is just off the lobby, with both a buffet breakfast or individual order items.

We love the YC!

Yes Caprains Grille has breakfast. I was thinking along the lines of CS offerings.
