As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We purchased DVC points through a rental company for a One Bedroom at WL. We are already at the maximum occupancy and we may be adding a 10 year old. It is a long story, but she had a rough childhood and even tougher year. We are trying to help out a little with a magical week. Right now it is we are not 100% certain that she is able to go, but we should find out this week.
This is our first time renting/buying points and for this trip, it back fired.
Any suggestions other than booking another room through Disney?

There is no other option other than getting another room. You can't put more than is allowed in the room. You probably also can't modify your reservation because you used a point broker.
The 1 bedroom villa has beds for 4, but they will allow 5. They will not provide additional bedding or towels, but you can have 5 on the reservation. So when you say you are at the maximum- is that 4 or 5? If you already have 5 people on the reservation you cannot add a 6th. I would call the rental company and see if there are any options for you.
I had experience with this same thing just this past January. All I had to do to add the 5th person is call DVC member services (your rental company should be able to provide you with the #) and give his name and other info, and he received a magic band in the mail just like the other 4 of us. He was perfectly legit. They told me he wouldn't be provided with any extra towels or linens, however. Which is no big deal. you get a reload of towels, etc. on Wednesday, I think, if youre staying sunday through sunday, like we always do. plus, there are towels at the pool. we never had issues. He even got sick the 1st night we got there (nausea from rides?), and was vomiting uncontrollably, and the lovely maid came up there, cleaned it all up for us (!) and gave us extra towels then, because she saw we went through a couple before she even got there. She actually stayed with us a bit, until he was feeling better and she knew his vomiting had passed. she came back later and did an all-purpose cleaning on our surfaces like counters, table and bathroom again about 30 mins. after she left. She was so amazing. ok, I got off point... but, suffice it to say, Disney is very accommodating.
if you are already at 5 people, then yes, you have a problem. good luck!
Yes, if you are at 4 you can add a 5th. Be aware you will need to bring a bed. I know others have been confused by "no bedding provided". This means no sleeping surface nor sheets, blankets, pillow, etc. Bring a blow up mattress etc. As for towels, you will have a washer and dryer in the room. Just launder the towels.
If you already are at 5 people in the room without the 10 year old, I'd check with the person you bought the points from to see if they can help you find an alternative for what you've already spent. It's a real long shot though.
Is there any way you could just not add her this trip and take her on another one at some other time? Have you already spoken to her about this (I hope not....because how disappointing would that be if you can't work it out)?

Is it possible to fee if you can upgrade your room thought the rental company to a two bedroom? This will cost more money but it maybe your only option.
We already have 5 in the room. I called the company and asked for any other options or upgrades. They said the person who sold the points does not have any points left. No, we did not tell her. We will probably get another room.
Thank you for all the suggestions.

Is it possible to use points for a few nights in a two bedroom? And then pay out-of-pocket for the additional nights?
OP rented points. While rentals can save a lot of money over Disney's cash rates, the critical thing to remember when entering into any rental agreement is that you often sacrifice ALL abilities to change / modify the reservation.
DVC villa availability is much different than cash hotels. Most of the resorts--including Wilderness Lodge--book-up so quickly that changing dates or room sizes is simply not practical. Many rental brokers and individuals have strict policies against making any changes, simply because it can require a lot of effort with very little chance for success.
It's a tough situation and I'm very sympathetic toward OP, but there aren't a whole lot of options here. The Wilderness Lodge does have Deluxe Studio Villas which connect to One Bedroom villas. It may be possible to pay cash for a Studio and request connecting rooms....but I don't think the resort could guarantee connecting rooms.
If a standard hotel room is booked at the Wilderness Lodge, it will be located in an entirely separate building from the villa. You could have a 5+ minute walk between the two rooms and Disney hotels do require that an adult be present in each room for safety / security purposes.
