As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). No need to reserve (although you CAN pre-pay if you go online: http://www.portcanaveral.com/Cruise/Directions-Parking). There's a sizeable garage. Just pull in, park, and most importantly - remember WHERE you parked! You'll be so relaxed when you get back, it may not be immediately clear. Write your parking info somewhere that you'll remember it!
There are also off port parking areas that provide shuttle service to the port. They are less expensive with less convenience. We have done both and prefer paying more for parking close and coming and going when we are ready. That being said the off port parking is reliable and certainly a cost effective option.
Thanks for posting the link cubfancolleen. I saw that online but didn't know for sure if that was the port. We are going in March and I had read horror stories about the garage being full.

We just did this last month. We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott the night before and received a 40% off coupon for parking at the port. I thought the parking garage opened at 10:00 but the night before, we met someone on our cruise in the hotel lobby and they told us to get there earlier than 10:00. We arrived around 9:30, paid and drove to the third level of the garage. I'd recommend parking on level 3 and walking across the bridge to the terminal. There was a fairly long line at 9:30 so I'm glad we arrived when we did. There were plenty of parking spots available. A porter came right to our car and took our luggage. Super easy!

We did the same thing, but stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites. Great hotel with a free breakfast in the morning. We were there earlier enough so that parking in the garage wasn't a problem at all. There were a million spaces still available. We parked on level 3 and used the bridge as well, along with all of the other guests who had arrived early with us.
When we went several years ago, we used Park N Cruise (off-site at Merrit Island). It was fantastic. We saved a lot (we were on a week long cruise) and it was really easy. Their location is right off the main road that you take to get from Orlando to Port Canaveral so you're probably driving right by it. They were really nice folks.
Like GATechGal, we have used Park'n'Cruise on both of our 7 night Fantasy cruises. It looks like they have gone up a dollar since our last cruise, but even at 8.95/day, it is nearly half the cost of pre-paid parking in the Terminal lot. They are super friendly and they have a very smooth and organized system of getting folks in and unloaded. Since they serve the entire port, the shuttles drop off/pick up at multiple cruise line stops, but it seems that DCL has some sort of priority. We have usually not waited more than 15 minutes once in line to be loaded on a shuttle and taken to the port. And naturally, you are dropped off right in front of the terminal with Disney cast members taking care of your bags. All you do is walk through security. I highly recommend Park 'n' Cruise.
Previous cruises, on the Fantasy, we have embarked on Saturday morning. Driving from Middle TN, we've driven most of the way on Friday, stayed in Lake City, FL and finished the trip Sat. morning, driving directly to the Park 'n' Cruise lot. This year, our cruise in April embarks on Sunday afternoon. I think we may try to stay in Cocoa Beach Sat night this time. If we get a 40% coupon from the hotel, it may even out to park in the terminal lot!
