I dunno if this is endearingly cute or just Disney Addict SCARY! - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I dunno if this is endearingly cute or just Disney Addict SCARY!
DH His Drewness is a certified (or is that "certifiable?" ) Disney Addict for certain.
We got home exactly one week ago tomorrow from our fabulous Christmas trip which stretched our resources somewhat, and Drew just showed me a package he put together for Thanksgiving week this year! A GF or BLT 1-br villa stay which would be a real change of accommodations for us, never having booked a villa.
We both agree we shouldn't consider it, most likely couldn't save up enough by then even if we scraped and scrimped like crazy--yanno, all those many adult considerations that ought to have stopped us from going three years in a row but clearly didn't.
And now, a FOURTH YEAR???
We shouldn't. We can't. We definitely won't go back again THIS year. (Says semi-sane adult Dot)
But, as some of you know all too well, that's what I said in 2014 AND 2015.
(It's Tara O'Hara's fault for being contagious despite my not having met her on these boards until last year. I'm blamin' ya anyway, girlfriend!)

We booked a bounce back to the GF starting 9/29 of this year (hoping to coincide with F&W) that we probably should not do.....BUT, we're going to try. We can always cancel later if needed. We originally had said that after this year our next return trip would be in 2017 after Avatar area opened and DD graduated HS. Time will tell.
Maybe an even better deal will present itself that will make it irresistible.
He just admitted after having looked at other potential non-villa bookings that he'll take only that First Step of admitting he's a DA. Well, actually, only half the first step since I didn't hear a word about going back this year being unmanageable even though it should be thought of that way. If we had any sense at all, which we clearly don't! Big surprise.

If y'all are considering a villa potentially, have you looked into renting points? It might be surprisingly affordable considering how you two normally stay and having real dinnerware and a microwave (1 bedroom+) you might even eat some of those leftovers!
LOL! you sound like us several years ago. We've been going almost every year since 2005. Although it's never been DH's idea. We use to be able to stay in the deluxe resorts occasionally, but those days are gone since I don't work anymore (at least not a paying job). Believe me, babysitting our 3 granddaughters who are under 5 years old 50 hours a week is work. I miss the CR Magic Kingdom view balcony sooooo much! Have fun planning for your next trip!
Naw, thanks, xwewhisper, for that suggestion (which I mentioned to DH), but we honestly were just fiddling around playing "what-if-we-did-it-insanely-AGAIN?"
We both quickly agreed that with two family occasions in NYC in 2017, one in early January and a second in October, there's truly no way short of winning the lottery that we could afford to return in Nov. '16.
So, what'd we do next? Just as foolishly checked prices on a trip to DLR!
We are definite DA's as well as Disney-lovin' fools besides.

I'd say what you guys did (or are doing) is perfectly normal. How many of my TR's have you read where I've typed the words "I have no idea when the next trip will be" and then it ends up being the next year? I'll give you a hint if my "previous trips" thing at the bottom is too small to read - since 2006, there have only been 2 years we have not gone to Disney. One year (in 2007) was never going to happen, even if we could have come up with the money, as Lenny was scheduled to have hip surgery on both hips and then I also ended up having surgery myself so nothing was planned for. The other time was 2012 - and I think it really was a matter of no money. I'd have to go back to my 2011 TR and see how I ended it to remember As for the rest of the trips, how we came up with the money, I don't remember offhand but again, I'm sure I would have said something in the TR's.

We were exactly the same way - when we first got married in 1999, we said we'd go back to Disney every two or three years. Hmmm.... we've been to WDW in 2000, 2002, 2004 (twice), 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 (twice), 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 and we're back in 2016. Does that look like every two to three years to you? Oh and that's not counting trips to Disneyland Paris, which we did in some of the off years (2003, 2010 and 2014 spring to mind!), Tokyo Disney, Hong Kong Disneyland or Disneyland. Yep, we are most definitely addicted!
