As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

December in Disney: How much more Magical can I get? (I hope LOTS more!)
So on November 2nd it will be 30 days to my next Disney trip. The number seems like it is a long time to get here. Then it is 3 weeks to Thanksgiving and then another week after that I leave for Disney!
I originally did not plan this 2nd Disney trip. The May trip was enough and the weather was so HOT and HUMID, plus the crowds too was enough for me to handle. It wasn’t until I got home and checked out my finances that I had about $500 left. I know I mentioned this in my Trip Report back in May, but my sons gave me an early Birthday present; an upgrade to a Deluxe resort. This is how I had the $500 left over. So I just thought I would add it to the 2016 trip, but then realized the Birthday money was to be used for my Birthday. That is when I thought how about going back for a short trip, like in December and get to see the Osborne Lights and all the decorations too (this was before I found out about the Osborne Lights being the last year!). This is something I have thought of doing but just haven’t planned it. So I made the reservation on August 2nd, right before I started a new job too! Of course I was worried about the new job, but they were all for it and said, go!
At this point I have both flights paid for (cheaper to fly in December than in May), park hopper tickets for 4 days, bought the MVMCP ticket, picked my magic band, set up with DME, got my one yellow tag in the mail, got my Dining plans and all I have to do is pay my balance off of my resort and save some extra money.
I just found out a few days ago that I might have to drive my car to the airport and park it there. I have found a reasonable place to do that, $7.95 a day. I was going to call a few limousine companies, but I am sure they will be more expensive than this park place.
So don’t worry about me just sitting in my house and twiddling my fingers on what to do, because there is plenty to do for me to stay busy. My oldest son will be coming home from California (actually he is in Ohio for school-the Air Force sent him) and he will be here on 11-21-15 then my youngest will be home on 11-24-15. Have to have the house looking Clean before the 21st. So yeah it is a little harder to think about Disney, but when I hear a song or see a commercial about Disney then my excitement starts to kick up. Plus my mind is always thinking that May is the Disney month- now I have to get it in gear to think that December is the Disney month!
I checked the weather from last December and it was in the 80’s. As the trip gets closer I will be checking out the weather more closely. Wouldn’t it be great if the weather I should have had in May was the weather for December? I was still planning to pack shorts anyway.
There are a lot of firsts for this trip, just like in May; my very 1st stay at Pop Century. I have heard so many good things about this resort. Plus Pop has its own bus, how sweet! No sharing and other than staying at Caribbean Beach, most of the resorts I have stayed including Boardwalk this past May, just not used to not sharing! I am sure it will be just perfect! I requested online checking in to be on the top floor and in the 70’s section.
I hope I can successfully write this Trip Report, since this will be my 1st going in December! I will take many pictures and figure out how to really post them correctly...lol
Please advise me on anything if you need too. I LOVE all suggestions! I appreciate your time in reading my Trip report!

A suggestion--Weather in December can be lovely or nasty cold. Coming from PA, you may have on a warm hat and gloves that time of year. Be sure to take some as you could be VERY glad you did.
We've had two Nov. and one Jan. trip with over half our stay beastly cold. Maybe that's been just our rotten luck, but believe me, 20-degree daytime windchills in FL can feel worse than you're accustomed to in that weather at home.

Great start Kate - and you're right, you don't have a lot of time to think about Disney with so many exciting things this month. I'm so glad you get to see both Philmore and Ryan in a couple of weeks - and enjoy that new vacuum getting ready for them.

-That seems very reasonable. But I called the one limousine company that I had on my list and it would cost me to get to the airport, $110 and that includes the tip. But coming back it would be $116. Kind of expensive!!!! I called the Parking Lot and it will be more like $50 and I have to make a reservation and put a deposit for one day down, $10. I don't have anyone to pick me up. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I was also thinking maybe a shuttle service. I know down here, in FLO-RIDA where we have a lot of tourists, there are shuttle services to airports and cruise ports. Some of them meet in a parking lot and then they take you to where you need. The drawback is they only run during certain times. I know that when I get off the plane I like being able to go right to my car and get home, but I hate leaving my car at the airport. I'm convinced that someone is going to steal my car when there are so many more expensive cars to steal, lol! I try and park next to really expensive cars hahaha.
I was also thinking maybe a shuttle service. I know down here, in FLO-RIDA where we have a lot of tourists, there are shuttle services to airports and cruise ports. Some of them meet in a parking lot and then they take you to where you need.
You Floridians are clearly spoiled!
Yes, there are shuttles here in St. Looey but only from hotels to the airport or from pay-to-park lots to the airport and back to the lot upon your return. Maybe there are such shuttles from points in downtown STL but not out here in our burb which is around 25 miles from the airport. In fact, when my in-laws stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn near us, we found out that it's so far from the airport that there's a shuttle to the airport only during popular yearly events. Rest of the time, guests must rent a car or call a cab. From this far out, that was $50 one way when we booked a cab five years ago to get to and from the airport.
From your home to a pay-to-park near the airport, you're on your own in most cities, I'm guessing.
