As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Going home doesn't seem like much of an exciting trip but I am sitting here as excited or maybe even more excited than for a WDW vacation so maybe it is.
to recap myself, DH and DS Rory 11 are currently living in Brisbane Australia whereas DS Peter 16 is at boarding school at home in Edinburgh and DD Gemma 19 is at University in Glasgow in Scotland. Our posting to Brisbane is temporary, probably 3 years unless I kill my boss before then
So to have the family all together including the family pets a black lab Scott and a cat Sid (who have temporarily moved in with Gemma) christmas needs to be in Scotland. Our family home is there so we are literally just going home for Christmas.
DH Graeme and Rory left a week ago and are already at home. In fact they have been asked to put up the Christmas tree and decorations today. I went home quickly in November so all the presents are bought and wrapped at home waiting to be placed under the tree.
I leave on Wednesday so I get home the Thursday the 18th. Our plans are as follows
Monday the 15th, Graeme is picking Gemma up from her flat, 3 out of 5 will be home.
Thursday the 18th I get home thus 4 out of 5
Friday the 19th I pick Peter up at boarding school, finally 5 of us all home. Graeme is having major dental work done this day he needs 5 implants done.
Saturday the 20th. I had planned a dinner for myself and Graeme to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary which was the 11th and we missed it as he was already home. However with the dental work I postponed to a later date. Gemma and I are going to the hairdressers.
Sunday the 21st. Our first fun day. we are going into Edinburgh to the Christmas markets and the winter wonderland as well as just see some Christmas lights which I love.
Monday the 22nd is unfortunately a work day. we need to go to Aberdeen and get work Medicals done. These are done annually as we are expats I ink it is to do without insurance policy.
Tuesday the 23rd is a naff Christmas movie day then we are going to go see the last Hobbit file.
Wednesday the 24th we are going Ice skating in the morning then to the watch night service at my dads church. It starts at 10:45pm with tea and mince pies then the service finishes just after midnight. It is really beautiful.
Thursday the 25th just a family Christmas us and my dad.
Friday the 26th. We are having a quiet morning probably watching DVDs and then going to my dads sister who has lost of cousins visiting in e evening
Saturday the 27th we have the Pantominme Jack and e Beanstalk in Edinburgh
Sunday and Monday we have quiet days although my brother is coming down for one of them
Tuesday the 30th. Cherly and Mark Pendry are coming for a visit. we are meeting them at the Falkirk Wheel and the going to see the Kelpies (I think) before going back to our house
Wednesday the 31st I think we are going to go to see the Royal Yacht Britannia in the morning and we did discuss something else but I can't remember what. Hopefully Cheryl has a better memory the me. we are going out for dinner at a local pub with Scottish music afterwards to see us into 2015 ( I really do not know how 2015 got so close)
Thursday's the 1st we talked about going to visit Saint Andrews the home of golf and a beautiful ancient Scottish town as well as the birthplace of someone awesome (me!) and hopefully getting hot choclate, scones and pancakes at the old Coarse Hotel.
Friday the 2nd Cheryl and Mark leave we will probably relax
Then we have a few days to chill and do whatever shopping we need to do before going back to Australia. my dad and Auntie are coming for dinner the 4th and we will take Geema back to Glasgow. Graeme and I are going out to celebrate our anniversary at the new Martin Wishart restaurant in Edinburgh on the 3rd.
Peter goes back to school the 6th, Graeme will probably take the pets back to Gemma the 7th and we leave the 8th to come back to Australia so I have a few free days for shopping then.
most of the home time will be spent just relaxing with the kids and enjoying their company. also hopefully we will have some good movies to watch,
I can't wait. 3 more sleeps here then 2 en route.

I'm so glad you posted this Hazel and it's great to see your plans outside of our visit.
By the way, I meant to say Graeme did great with the Christmas cards - yours arrived yesterday, complete with address, which is very helpful. Poor thing though with that dental work - he has my thoughts, as I've had one implant, not fun, but worth it in the end.
Ok, our plans - spot on for 30 December and the Keplies sound good, so long as it's not too dark, that's my only concern, as I'm not sure it'll be worth visiting after dark.
31 December - the Royal Yacht I remember, but I don't have anything else down for that day. Maybe that's not a bad thing, given we've got a long evening - going up and past midnight. Considering we rarely make it past 10:00pm, that will be enough of a challenge for us! Actually, you did suggest a couple of things to do after that, but I'm darned if I can find the details anywhere... I'm searching now, just as well you mentioned that now!
New Year's Day is exactly what you said - the hot chocolate, scones and pancakes sold me!
Ok, got it - the ideas we threw around for 31 December after Britannia were either Dunfermline Abbey and you told me Robert the Bruce is buried there or Linlithgow Palace and you said Mary queen of Scots grew up there. I'm off to check them out now...
Actually I think you were right the first time we should chill after the yacht and maybe even a nap. Trust me midnight will be as much of a challenge for me as you.
the Kelpies are right next door to the Falkland wheel and are floodlit and beautiful in the light. In fact we might even be able to see enough of them from the wheel

Oh that sounds neat! I think you're right, we'll play it by ear I think on New Year's Eve and see how we're all doing.
So glad you'll all be together, celebrating your first Christmas in the new house!
New Years Eve is sure to be a fun time! I'm sure we'll get to hear all about it from both you and Cheryl!
I'm excited for you Hazel! It was so great that your new house was finished in time for you to get it set up and to spend some time in before you left for Australia and now you get to return to it for Christmas with the family reunited it will be wonderful. You've got some great activities planned and also some good planned down-time hanging out with the family. Poor Graeme having to undergo dental work. I hope he's feeling well and pain-free by Christmas.

I have no doubt you will unless we both fall asleep and miss it

Very happy tonight. Finally finished work at 9pm tonight. Leave tomorrow at 14:40 so I should have a little time to sleep in. I. Not exactly leaving a perfect house but I'm so tired I'm beyond caring. That can be next years problem.
I leave for Singapore tomorrow, have a Hotel overnight in Singapore then I arrive in Edinburgh Thursday evening. Looking forward to seeing the family.
