WDW: New 'Frozen' Holiday Premium Package Available (10-02-2014 08:10 AM) - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

WDW: New 'Frozen' Holiday Premium Package Available (10-02-2014 08:10 AM)
New 'Frozen' Holiday Premium Package Available
A new "Frozen" Holiday Premium Package is available at Walt Disney World on select dates: November 7-19, November 21-December 9, and December 11, 2014-January 4, 2015. The package includes reserved seating for "For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration," an Osborne Spectacle of dancing Lights viewing with Frozen-themed Dessert Party, a special holiday keepsake, lithograph, and framed pin. The package is $89 per adult, $59 per child (ages 3 - 9), plus tax. Park admission is not included, reservations are required!
It does look as if the Frozen packages are going to continue longer term with this news. I'm interested to see whether anything comes out for early 2015, as if there's something for our trip in February/March, I may well try it out....
Well, we are going to give it a try. I understand from another thread that the perceived value of this package is low (summer event was cheaper and offered more activities).
I am hoping that the holiday keepsake, lithograph and pin plus the sing a long and dessert party make it worth the $$.
I hope someone who goes in early November will report back and tell us what they think!
Interesting that during Thanksgiving week - a week where I almost cannot find any wiggle room in ADR's or FP's; I cannot change my BBB appointment and the very expensive Perfectly Princess Tea Party is sold out.... that I can still find this Premium package available on every day I have looked at that week.
Makes me wonder if people are A) Not interested; B) Not seeing the value; C) Not aware of the opportunity.
Complete waste of $$$ imho. $300+ for a family of four, on top of park pass? For what?
I hear you, and then there is that part of me that says Disney likes to take our money but there is usually some value in return.
Like I am wondering if the take-away mementos are worth some $$ -- the largest expense of the Princess Tea Party is the $100 Doll plus there are other take-home items....
So I guess I am really interested in hearing from someone who will go during the first week and I am holding out hope that there is value in there for the money.
Plus if it doesn't sell well then we will have a place to hang out without the crowds that will be everywhere that week.
So if you took an average cost and assume the dessert party portion of the event is worth, $42 adult $22 child, that leaves:
$47/adult
$37/child
That we are paying for the preferred seating at the Sing-a-Long and for souvenirs...I wonder if any of the Frozen characters will be there....
I just wanted to make you aware of one thing if you're not already - the preferred seating at the sing along is behind the wheelchair/transfer section (it's the first two rows and a few people have complained about this - "paying" for seats when disabled people get "better" seats for free.) The theater is small enough that I don't think there would be a bad seat period but just want to let you know.
Another thing - if there were no characters at the summer festivities, I don't believe Disney would have them at the winter ones either. I know when I booked (the summer one), I was told repeatedly by the CM it did not include any kind of meet and greet.
The real "shame" of it IMO is Disney is giving lithographs and pins to go with it - what is any family going to do with 3 or 4 of the same lithograph or pin? And if they don't give out multiples, what are you really paying for? Ultimately, you're paying for an experience and if the cost isn't prohibitive and you're okay paying for things that others are getting for "free" (seeing the sing along, getting to see the Christmas lights) then there's not a lot of need to question it. If you start to question it and expect to get something of value other than entertainment then it may end up being a disappointment when all is said and done.
I agree with everything above. It doesn't seem like you are getting as much value as people did during the summer package. One thing to point out though, the dessert party includes alcohol. I know the wishes dessert party doesn't (doesn't even include soft drinks) and I'm. It sure about the illuminations one. So that would increase the value of the dessert portion slightly, but not enough to make it worth it in my opinion.
Considering that we will be at WDW during the week before Christmas and remembering the crowds that we encountered at the same time we were there the last time, we decided to go ahead and buy the package. The CM we spoke to indicated that the Osborne Lights area would be opened for the package holders at 7 PM ahead of all others. This sounds like it will be exclusive to package holders. If this is truly a reserved viewing time with no crowds, it will be worth it. We will see how it all works out when we are there
I read some of the reviews. For several reasons, we have cancelled our reservation for this event. We are not drinkers, we saw the sing along in September, we will be meeting with some friends from RADP news group at 7:30 for Osborne lights. I guess we will be in the crowds but it should still be fun even without the exclusivity of the Frozen party stuff.
I have been meaning to revisit this topic now that we are back home. I thoroughly enjoyed the Premium package experience!
The line for the sing a long was HUGE 30 minutes + before the show, and the line for us with the premium package was teeny by comparison - and we lined up very close to the start time. One thing I strive to avoid is standing in line wasting time.
The seats we had for the sing-a-long were fantastic! Like three rows back. The show was fun.
The Osborne lights were amazing. And the view from the dessert party area was just as amazing as being in the massive crowds. I disagree that we would be better off wandering up and down the street. The street was PACKED. and the only snack we could find (we skipped dinner in favor of the desserts) was terrible pretzels and disgusting cheese sauce. The dessert party let us sit down and enjoy the music and the lights with clear view. I like having elbow room.
The desserts themselves were so so. The drinks were so so. Do I think the entire thing was worth $100/person? No. But I would pay it again to not have to stand in line and to have a spacious place to sit and enjoy the evening. It was magical. Yep, I would.
