As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). 47 days until my first marathon, and I'm not anywhere near where I wanted to be training wise. I tried running with TNT group Saturday and had to quit after a half hour because my stupid ankle. I went to the MedCheck place here, and they said it's tendinitis (after getting X-rays to confirm it wasn't a stress fracture). So for the last two days I have been eating all of the dessert foods in our apartment and debating on dropping to the half marathon instead.
I need some serious help...my highest mileage is ten. I should have cranked out 12-13 this weekend, but didn't. My coaches are saying that I can do it, but I have doubts. But I'm terrified that I'll let down the people who donated to my Team in Training efforts if I drop.
Sorry for the rant. Just needed to get it off my chest and explain it to people that understand.
I can relate definitely....I've got my marathon in about a month, and am feeling less ready than I'd like to (bumped my marathon up by two weeks and signed up for a different run since the one I was originally intending on running didn't give me warm feelings).
Missing out on one week o your training will not make or break the success of your race. You have lots of time to get back into your training plan and get yourself ready for the long runs ahead. Take heart in knowing this is the worst part of the training for the marathon...the next few weeks will really bite, you'll hate going for long runs, but they have to be done, and they'll be getting you ready to complete the marathon when it comes.
Trust in yourself, trust in your coaches. While the marathon is one of the hardest things I've ever done, my training prepared me for it, and that's what I'm telling myself for this one coming up. I'll be ready to line up on the start line on Oct 19, and either way, I'll get myself across that finish line....and you know what, you'll do the same!
Oh, and remember...this running stuff is supposed to be fun

Sorry to hear about your ankle! How long do you have to rest it? If you don't have to take off too much time, I think you can totally do it. I would hold off on changing to the half as you still have 7 weeks to get the distance in. Keep us posted.
If it makes you feel any better, prior to my first Full the furthest distance I ran was 16 miles. By choice. Yes most programs have you run 20 or better. But I chose to only run 16. I figured - "why torture myself? It's only 10 more miles for the real race." And I survived. If you rest as you need to and get any long run into the mid-teens, there's no doubt that you can finish.
It sounds like the biggest variable is going to be your ankle. Wrap it nicely for your runs, either with a proper wrap or at the very least some KT tape (or similar). I would still plan on running a full, unless your ankle tells you otherwise. And an injury is a totally valid excuse for not running a race - or dropping to a shorter distance. I think all your supporters would completely understand should you need to change your goals. Nobody wants to see you get more injured!
Don't count out anything yet. Take a wait and see approach. Continue to ice, elevate, and wrap that ankle in the meantime, and see how far it will take you. Like I said, if you can get to 15 or 16 miles, you will finish the race. But don't do it if you're in too much pain. Too early to make any sound decisions!!

The only reason I've been thinking about it is because the deadline to switch is October first. I bought new shoes so finger crossed that they'll help I switched shoes a month before my last half, so it was time any way. Today is the best the ankle has felt. So hoping I can be back to running Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

Until today....after school our district had a homecoming parade. While walking by our float, I was stung by a yellow jacket (I think). Luckily it was inside my elbow, so nothing that could be affected during running

Well, I had an allergic reaction to the stupid sting and spent a no-pay day at home (I marked sick time on my pay sheet?) after getting a steroid shot to calm it down.
But I ran 14.5 miles Saturday! And I have one (or 2) more long runs to go until my marathon...
I'm allergic to yellow jackets as well. Bratty little buggers they are! I would fight about the sick day thing. Also, if you were required to be at the parade, it could be considered workmans comp, just sayin.

Oh, I would send you some pumpkin bread with chocolate chips that I made Sunday, but I ate it all.
Eh, I'm not too worried about it, but I want to know for next time I need to use sick time. I wasn't required to be at the parade, so no workman's comp...just the $25 copay for the insurance.
