Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Food Glorious Food......
That song from Oliver! is playing in my head right now! I have two growing boys, and they've suddenly developed insatiable appetites! You would never know it to look at them, both beanpoles! But, I CAN'T KEEP ENOUGH FOOD/SNACKS IN THE HOUSE FOR THEM, and I'm running out of ideas. Heeeellllp, please!
What do you (or would you) keep on hand to feed your newly minted teenagers?
"Food, glorious food!
What wouldn't we give for
That extra bit more --
That's all that we live for
Why should we be fated to
Do nothing but brood
On food,
Magical food,
Wonderful food,
Marvellous food,
Fabulous food,
Beautiful food,
Glorious food!"

Re: Food Glorious Food......
The smart mom in me says keep lots of fruits and veggies to snack on, but who am I kidding!
My son, almost 12, is a carboholic! I can't keep enough fresh bagels and Stella D'oro breadsticks in stock! Milk and Milano's are a favorite nightime snack, too! Luckily he has a great metabolism.
I hope your sons are healthier eaters than mine!

Re: Food Glorious Food......
Nancy, I have that problem already with Kylor. The child has a metabolism to be jealous of (well, I'm jealous anyway LOL) I am SO scared of him being a teenager He practically eats me out of house and home already, and Jalen can't be far behind. I am a huge pushover to prepackaged snack foods (one thing I indulge in). The snack pack puddings, applesauces, jellos, etc. Kylor snacks a lot on Triscuits, too. You can do a lot with Triscuits (top with cream cheese, top with cheese and salsa and micro) Mmm,mmm.
Good luck not going into the poor house feeding them!!

As the mother of an almost 21 year old college student who has been going through this for several years now, knows that you must always have plenty of cereal, cookies, snack bars, gatorade and milk!

<font size="2" face="Comic Sans MS, Arial">LOL, I hear you Angie. Unfortunately, my sons are about as interested in healthy snacks as your son. They will occasionally eat a sliced up apple dipped in peanut butter. But they are much more likely to eat all the other stuff mentioned.
Thanks Cindy and Tina for your great tips! They will come in very handy. Tina, have you considered a second job for Kylor's snacks?? LOL

Re: Food Glorious Food......
I hear your plight! My oldest son eats 4 meals a day - breakfast, lunch, dinner and dinner after football practice - plus 2 or 3 snacks a day. Voracious doesn't begin to describe his appetite and he's a skinny kid! We go through Pepperidge Farm snacks, dried fruit, yogurt, cheese, and yes, Oreo cookies like there is no tomorrow!
Signed,
We make almost daily trips to the grocery store

Re: Food Glorious Food......
Frozen individual pizza, tv dinners, pot pies, individual servings of lasagna, etc and ice cream are a few of Keith's favorites. He took a lot of nutrition courses in college so he reads labels.
Signed,
Grocey bill was lower while Keith was away.

Nancy, I'm livin' it right now! DS is 15 and he eats Oreos, microwave popcorn, peeled and washed baby carrots, cereal and pretzels in quantities that shock me. Last night he ate 3/4 of a large pizza by himself for supper and then an hour later wanted a snack!

9yo DS pop tarts -- for breakfast, to go with his lunch, for a snack after dinner. Wheat Thins are also a must, along with low fat Pringles, pretzels, gummi worms , cheese, and yogurt.

Re: Food Glorious Food......
Nancy, my boys are always hungry too- they like snack food but almost always prefer "real" food, so I keep frozen pizzas, jarred sauce & pasta, cans of soup, Stoffers frozen dinners, Boca burgers, frozen fries, eggs, cold cuts in stock. They like cheese and crackers, fruit, cereal, chips, popcorn, pretzels, ice cream and cookies too, but they like meals for snacks! They are able to fix stuff themselves ( not able to clean up though ) They are also thin. Its slowed down a little for my 18 yr old, for awhile he used to tell me he was never full, now he says sometimes he is. Unbelievable how much two kids can eat!!!!! Sheila

Re: Food Glorious Food......
These posts have all been so great! I've printed them out and put the list on the fridge. That way, every time I go to the grocery store I can grab "the list" and KNOW I have tons of great snacks to choose from. Thanks again so much!

Re: Food Glorious Food......
I also think that kids will eat most anything, if they are really hungry AND it is easy for them to have access too.
If you keep veggies already cut up and easy to get too, then they will eat veggies and dip if that is what there is.
They will starve to death however before they cut up their own veggies to eat!LOL!!

Re: Food Glorious Food......
12yog w/a hollow leg here. Good thing she gets so much exercise.
I have a trickier problem in that my daughter will not eat anything sweet(w/the exception of Jolly Ranchers and skittles) so no cookies, no sweetened cereal, etc. Good thing health wise, but harder to keep choices available.
She eats alot of crackers, microwave oatmeal, microwave mac n cheese, apples like they are going out of style, baby carrotts and celery w/ranch dip, BREAD!!! mini bagel pizzas, pizza rolls, etc and of course the infamous, DREADED CHEF BOY ARDEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
