As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I know I'm a little ways off from my FP day plus I'll be going in the summer but for those that are there now, getting ready to go, etc (basically a busier time than summer it seems) have any FP been harder to get than others? I'm going to try it out for our trip this summer and I just want to have an idea of what to expect. Some of the FP I want to get will be the Mine Train (I know it's not available yet), Soarin, Toy Story, M&G like Anna and Elsa/Epcot Character spot, Splash Mountain. I don't have any specific times I want them which I would think helps. As time goes on, I'm sure I'll change my mind but like I said, I'd just like to have an idea of whether I can get them or not or if they're the type I have to keep checking each day.
Any and all input/advice/experiences greatly appreciated. TIA
The only ones I would think you'd have problems are Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (when available) and Anna & Elsa meet. This last one I was able to get but on my 3rd MK visit. First 2 days I'll be visiting the park, it wasn't available.
Test Track, Soarin' and Toy Story may not have agreeable time slots. We arranged our day around when Test Track was available, and we were there during value season, not crowded at all.
So, what you know are the hot-ticket attractions, treat like a BOG dinner ressie: Expect to work around what is the most agreeable time that may not be what you'd have rather had.

Soarin and Test Track are both Tier 1, so you can't do both on the same day. I had no trouble getting rides pretty much when I wanted them, but I was not going after roller coasters and thrill rides. Didn't try any meet and greets.

Like I said, I don't have any time frames in mind so something not agreeable for others might be okay with us unless it's late at night (i.e. 8:30 or 9:00). Afternoon/dinner time would be fine though

That's okay - with other people mentioning TT, it's a good reminder which ones are level one for anyone else reading this thread. For us though, I won't get a FP for TT - I'll use Abby's DAS to ride that one since the line doesn't seem to get as long as Soarin (at least not the times we've been by it).

Thanks - that's good to know if I can't get something at first, there's the chance (even if it's only a small one) that I could get one with persistence.
Make sure to sign up for MDE now. Link your travel buddies, tickets and hotel well before 60 days. Go ahead and set up your itinerary (meals, which parks you will be in which days or add all of them every day as you can delete a park after you get your passes). The best tip I can offer is to ignore the times when you first book your Fast Passes. Just book the rides you want. Then once you have your passes it is very easy to change the times for your group or even change the attractions. I put them all on an Excel Database by day and that way I made sure I got all of the ones I really wanted. Two of the parks are tiered so you only get to choose one of the most popular rides. Hope this helps.
Book the Anna & Elsa meet & greet for the end of your trip and book it first! I was booking at 5 am on the 60 day mark and I was only able to get Anna & Elsa for the last day of my trip.
