As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

AK...Expedition Everest, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Finding Nemo the Musical
DHS...Star Tours, Toy Story Mania, Tower of Terror
EP...Soarin', Mission:Space, Spaceship Earth
MK...Enchanted Tales with Belle, Seven Dwarves Mine Train, Princess Fairytale Hall
Magic Kingdom is the toughest for me. There are just more attractions there, so it's really personal preference. Epcot and DHS, of course, have the tiered system, so that limits your options.
Well seeing am at 44 days out I have already selected my 3 FP's for my trip. This is what I have (keeping in mind that my girlfriend does not do any roller coasters or else they would be my FP options): MK- May 13:
1. Peter Pan 10:50 am (Fantasyland)
2. Jungle Cruise 1:50 pm (Adventureland)**hopefully to change this for the Festival of Fantasy Parade when am around 30 days out.
3. Pirates of the Caribbean 4:25 pm (Adventureland Epcot- May 14:
1. Spaceship Earth 12:35 pm (Future World East)
2. Soarin 4:25 pm (Future World West)
3. Living in the Land 5:30 pm (Future World West) AK- May 15:
1. Kilimanjaro Safaris 9:05 am (Africa)
2. Dinosaur 10:30 am (Dinoland USA)
3. It’s Tough to be a Bug 12:45pm (Discovery Island) Hollywood Studios- May 17:
1. The Great Movie Ride 9:05 am (Hollywood Boulevard)
2. Toy Story 1:10 pm (Pixar Place)
3. Star Tours 4:00 pm (Echo Lake) MK - May 18:
1. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh 3:30 pm (Fantasyland)
2. Under the Sea-Journey of the Little Mermaid 6:05 pm (Fantasyland)
3. Haunted Mansion 9:05 pm (Liberty Square)
*** I will try to do the following at rope drop by myself (as she doesn't do roller coasters)
MK - Seven Dwarfs Mine Train; Thunder Mountain (when it is dark)
Epcot - Test track (we will both do this one)
Well that is how we are shaping up. Good luck with your selections.
Here's what we did on our trip in Dec:
None for AK. We had no problems getting on the rides without them. Saved our FPs for afternoon in MK.
DHS (two days)- TSMM, RNR, TOT (before tiers)
MK- day one- SPL MNTN, SPACE MNTN, BTMRR
MK- day two- BTMRR, SPACE MNTN, BUZZ
Epcot- Soarin, TT, Maelstrom
It really depends on your desires, and the makeup of your group. We did them for what was most important for us to see, and what we expected to have long lines.
We have a trip coming up in July and this is what I hope to get:
Epcot - Soarin, Turtle Talk, Living with the land
Hollywood Studios - Toy Story Mania, Tower of Terror, Star Tours
Animal Kingdom - Kilamanjaro Safari, Nemo & Friends, Expedition Everest
Magic Kingdom day1 - Fairytale Princess Hall, Seven Drawfs Mine Ride, Storytime with Bell
Magic Kingdom day2 - Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion
This is what I hope to be able to get.......we shall see!
AK: Kilamanjaro Safari, Dinosaur, Finding Nemo
DS: Toy Story Midway Mania, Tower of Terror, Rock N Roller Coaster
Epcot: Soarin, Test Track, Spaceship Earth
MK: Big Thunder Mountain, Seven Dwarfs Mine Ride, Enchanted Tales with Belle
I think it depends on what you've already seen and what you want to see again. The reason I say that is Enchanted Tales with Belle was a must for us last time, as we hadn't seen it before and the lines for that are long. Now we've seen it, we're fine with missing it next time, so do bear that in mind with my choices...
Magic Kingdom
Seven Dwarves Mine Train
Pirates of the Caribbean or Haunted Mansion
Winnie the Pooh
Epcot
Soarin'
Test Track (although not sure you can have both together any longer )
IllumiNations viewing (I think it's only offered on certain nights)
Studios
Toy Story Mania
not sure after that - this isn't a park we spent that much time in and we don't do Rock'n'Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, Star Tours etc.
Animal Kingdom
Kilimanjaro Safaris
Festival of the Lion King
Finding Nemo
Epcot
Soarin'
Test Track (although not sure you can have both together any longer )
IllumiNations viewing (I think it's only offered on certain nights)
chezp
That is right you can no longer pick Soarin and Test Track and Illuminations together as Epcot as that Tier system an they are on the first tier where you can only pick one. :-(
This is what I hope to be able to get.......we shall see!
AK: Kilamanjaro Safari, Dinosaur, Finding Nemo
DS: Toy Story Midway Mania, Tower of Terror, Rock N Roller Coaster
Epcot: Soarin, Test Track, Spaceship Earth
MK: Big Thunder Mountain, Seven Dwarfs Mine Ride, Enchanted Tales with Belle
Sadly for you, unless they change the tier system at Epcot and DHS, you won't be able to get everything on your list. RnR and TSMM are both tier 1, as are Soarin' and TT.
Thanks for the info.....I really need to look into the whole new system a lot better!
OK - coming back to edit my list. I decided to go read up on the whole tier system!
These are now my choices.....
Epcot: Soarin, Turtle Talk with Crush and Living with the Land
DS: TSMM, Great Movie Ride, Voyage of the Little Mermaid
MK: BTMRR, Enchanted Tales with Belle, Seven Dwarfs Mine Ride
AK: Kilimanjaro Safari, Dinosaur, Finding Nemo
I already chose my FP+ and it wasn't what I thought it would be... in fact I was surprised.
Keep in mind that even though there are 4 choices A, B, C, and Best Choice.... Since I had my meals planned already the choices were sometimes during my meal times. Not good! Also I felt like some of the rides boarded quickly and I didn't think I would need a FP. Like the Muppets and The Great Movie Ride. However I did want to get Toy Story, because I have not been on that yet.
Last year in August I didn't even get one Fast Pass! The longest line I stood in was for the Safari at AK. But I filled it out, because I did want to try this whole FP+ thing. I still like getting the passes through the machine.... but I know Technology catches up... lol

I think Peter Pan for sure is a Fast Pass Plus. It seems like everytime we have been there its lines have been NUTS and we always forget to grab a fast pass. That is one I will for sure do, because we don't normally get to ride that every trip. It seems silly to me, but it always happens!
I guess I get lucky with Pirates...I have never waited too long as it moves very fast. Not sure I will use a Fast Pass for that in MK. Of course the Seven Dwarfs will be huge and will definetly need to fast pass that one!
The other parks with the tiered system get me. I don't know what to do.
Definetly Toy Story Mania and take our chances with TOT and Aerosmith. I would like to fastpass Fantasmic one evening as well.
Since Test Track was under renovation our last trip, we will fast pass that one later in the morning and head to Soarin' right away! Spaceship Earth seems to go fairly quickly if you hit it at the right time of day. I can't make my fastpasses until fall.....everything will probably change by then!
