This is a ride that we are yet to try, yet my 2 DS are really wanting to ride it next trip. The idea of walking around wet the rest of the day is just not high on my to do list! Any tips for me to just get over it and try it already?!

I wear a poncho and try to ride it near the end of the day. I also bring a pair of flip flops and change my shoes before getting on. It's easier to do that now that they have lockers to leave your stuff.

I try to save this as a ride to ride before leaving the park. That way you are heading back to your room and change into some dry clothes.

When my son and I were there last year, Disney had a cart set up selling ponchos right outside the ride. I think they were around $ 7. Worked really well.

If you go in the summer when it's really hot, it won't take you long to dry. The best tip I have is depending upon their ages, wait with them in line then let them ride while you wait at the exit.

I would agree that make it last ride before leaving park - or just wear a poncho!!

Make sure to NOT wear jeans, jean shorts, or heavy weight clothing.

If we ride Kali River Rapids, it's the last ride before we leave the park.

I think AK has locker rentals near this attraction. That might be in the cards if you don't want to be soggy for the rest of the day. My backpack got soaked on this ride only because I wasn't quick enough to get it secured in the hatch thing in the center of the raft. I had to wash it as it had a distinctly "swampy" smell to it.

They also sell cute Animal Kingdom themed beach towels right outside the ride exit. We have occasionally bought one to dry off after the ride. We usually end up riding the rapids multiple times, especially in the fall and winter when the lines are usually very short.

I went on Kali in early December last year and had to buy a pair of sweatpants because I was so soaked. At least I got a souvenir out of it

I agree with the poncho. We got the dollar store ones. If you go during the summer when it is rainy ie downpours, then you might want them anyways. Otherwise, you won't stay wet long in the summer with the heat

I wore special shoes( Fila Skeletoes) I bought a quick dry shirt, I wore swim trunks that looked like cargo shorts. I was ready to get absolutely SOAKED.
We went on the ride, not a single drop got on me. You never know.

We rode it once and got absolutely drenched, LOL. It was our first park on our first day ever, but we didn't let it ruin our day. We did leave fairly quickly after that though. (It was the end of November-BRRR). I did see quite a few people wearing ponchos, and that's probably what we'll do the next time.

I bet it feels great in the summer though!

My little one always wears a poncho. I agree with the advice no jean or heavy material. My son wears shorts that dry fast and us girls wear sun dresses or something light as well. I would recommend packing spare undergarments in a ziploc though. That was my issue. There is usually a line in the bathroom for the blow dryer while people try to dry off.

DH & I wear ponchos and DS doesn't. That's what he's on the ride for..... to get completely soaked! He loves every minute of it. There's a large center compartment to put camera bags, etc. and at the base of that is a small rack (for lack of a better word) that you can put your feet on. DH firmly plants his feet on the bottom and his shoes get water logged because the water can get ankle deep before running out. I keep my on that rack and they don't get nearly as wet. Ride in the afternoon when the sun is high and hot and you'll dry quickly.
