As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So it's starting to get pretty official, I'm going to Europe at the end of the summer.
Right now it looks like we will be doing the Adventures By Disney that goes to England and France, leaving us off in Paris on August 18th (Monday) My plan is to then head over to DLP after breakfast and stay at one of the resorts there for my Disneyland time. (I don't know which one yet, I did order the DLP Passporter but am still at work so haven't downloaded!) But just can't get my head around the timing of things...
1. Would you head into the parks that afternoon or wait until a full day and just kind of decompress that evening with maybe a character meal at a hotel? (I think I saw that this is an option?)
2. How many days total for each park?
ETA: There is a current promotion that you can get 4 nights/5 days package for the price of a 3 night/4 day package. Worth it?
I'm heading to Amsterdam after to finish my trip, so I don't want to spend too much time there, but I want to see everything! I was told to allot two full days to Amsterdam, but with the weekend I have time to do so without sacrificing additional vacation days!
Hmmm.... let me see what I can do to help. When you're planning on visiting is slap in the middle of the British school holidays and, as the British are the biggest section of visitors to Disneyland Paris, whether you go on the Monday or the next day, I doubt the crowds will vary that much, so I'd probably take the time to decompress. There's a character meal at Café Mickey in the Disney Village that is good and there's also Inventions at the Disneyland Hotel, which I preferred. That would be a great introduction to Disneyland Paris.
How many days for each park? I can only give you a total - I'd say for a first visit, especially given the time of year you're visiting, four days would work best and allow you to see most things. If you can get a package with additional time for free, I say go for it. At the time of year you're going, I'd definitely want to be in a Disneyland Paris Resort hotel, as you get early admission in the morning, which would be a huge help.
As for Amsterdam, that definitely warrants a couple of days - lots to see and do there. I've been a couple of times, so let me know if you want any help with that side of your trip.
Thanks so much! I wasn't sure when ya'll went back to school over there, so I was hoping it wouldn't be too crazy. (But I also want to visit while the weather is nice, which is why I'm going over the summer even though I have no school schedule to adhere to!) The extra day free does sound like a nice deal, and it will allow us to leisurely take in the parks! It can get pricey though for some of their hotels it seems, do you have any insights into favorites? (I mean we are definitely staying on site, but it looks like they vary pretty greatly!)
And my coworker from the WDWCP actually lives outside Amsterdam, so I have my own personal tour guide for that part of the trip He might be meeting us in DLP as well, but he isn't sure how much time he can take off of work then.

We've only stayed at the Newport Bay Club and the Disneyland Hotel. We wouldn't go back to the Newport Bay Club. It looks like the Yacht Club, but it's more like a moderate than a deluxe. We loved our stay at the Disneyland Hotel (we used our Disney Vacation Club points), but it is absolutely stupidly expensive. However, its location at the entrance to the parks can't be beaten.
August can be quite low crowds as the locals are gone, yeah you get the English but the scots schools will be back the 16th so it isn't peak season. Personally I'd say 2-3 days for the parks 4 if you want a chill at the resort day.

I love the Yacht Club, so that's where I was looking! LOL I guess I will look at the New York hotel, somewhere in between (because yes, the Disneyland Hotel is CRAZY overpriced!) I could use points but ehhh I'd rather still go do WDW in October and stay at the cheaper DLP hotels. The Adventure By Disney will spoil me enough anyway!

That's good! I can handle moderate crowds for sure I think I'm leaning towards 3 full days. Then with the leisurely travel days (with the tickets included anyway) just for extras!

I did four nights / five days in off peak crowds and felt I saw pretty much everything. Actually I probably could have got round everything if I hadn't done some things more than once. However the time of year I was there (early September) I rarely waited more than 15 minutes for rides apart from two occasions I can think of that were a bit longer. Also I was on my on so was going at a fair pace. I did take one afternoon break though and an evening where I went for a mocktail in the Disneyland Hotel. So I'd say four or five days would get you around most things of its not too busy and you are able to tour quite consistently.
I will say though that while I though the Magic Kingdom section (I don't think it's actually called that at DLP but you know what I mean!) was fabulous personally I wasn't that fussed for tge studios. I spent about two thirds of a day there and that was enough for me. If (when heheh) I go back I think I would not bother at all personally. There are a couple of big rides in there though like Tower of Terror and Rock & Roller-coaster so if you like thrill rides (I don't) you might feel differently.
