As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Rain Forest 1-Day Pass? What are the odds of Remy not being available?
I booked the Dream for December 1st to 5th 2014.
Still many months before I can book anything. I heard that they only allow 40 people to get the Rain Forest? Looking at things you can buy and have delivered to a stateroom you can get the Rain Forest 1 day pass for $16.
Couldn't that sell out? Before the 75 day window?
Also we really want to go to Remmy but want to make sure it isn't during the night we are supposed to go the Animator Palate. On a 4 night cruise we would hit one restaurant twice, how can we be sure if we go to Remy that it would be on the night that was a repeat?
When we last cruised in 2012, you could only buy your Rainforest pass when you boarded, so it may have changed since then. Our experience was then was that you could buy a length-of-stay pass as soon as you boarded and, of course, it's possible that, if they sell enough of those (that's what we always get), then there may not be any available. I'll have to keep an eye out for that for our upcoming Med cruise, as if they are now available online, I'll definitely book our length-of-stay at that stage.
The only way I can think to deal with the Remy situation with any certainty is to be on the early seating for dinner, then book Remy for something like 7:30. We've done that before, then you can go to your scheduled dining room first, before heading to Remy later on.
Dinner Twice? Well going to dinner with our son then sending him I to kids club might be a great idea for me as I could handle eating 24 hours strait. Not so sure my wife could. The most expensive meal I've ever had was lunch at Morimoto's in Philadelphia. It was 6 courses of mostly sushi, I left thinking Ok now where can we get cheesesteak the wife on the other hand was too full even for dinner 6 hours later

Oh sorry - I didn't mean you had to have two dinners! We've usually had a mouthful or two of an appetiser offered at dinner, but we go more for any show, such as at Animator's or to see our table mates.
Just a note, on a 4-night cruise, your "duplicate" MDR will occur on Pirate Night. Which may actually be your first night in that MDR but it will not be the "regular" MDR menu and AP show.
I agree with PP -- assuming you have early dining, book Remy late. Go to early dining with your son to enjoy the MDR. Tell your servers you'll be eating at Remy later, if you want an appetizer or drink, just order that and keep your son company while he eats.
It's tough to fit everything in a 4-night cruise without feeling that you've missed something. That's how they hook you -- and you'll return for another cruise, and another cruise, and another cruise -- because there's always more to do! Enjoy!

Would the formal restuarunts think of an 18th Century Naval Officer's Jacket as a jacket?

Good question. I honestly don't know if Palo and Remy participate in Pirate night or not, at least as far as costumes since I'm sure they don't do the Pirate Night menus. Hopefully someone else will respond with a definite on the attire.
On a 4-night cruise, you'll repeat at one MDR -- and it will be the MDR you attend for Pirate Night, so you'll return the next night to experience it again with the menu and theming specific to that MDR. Pirate Night the menu is the same at all MDRs with all serving staff is dress in pirate garb.
I've never seen an explicit, "no costumes" prohibition for Palo or Remy. At this point, Palo doesn't require a jacket at all.
I can't recall being to either Palo or Remy on Pirate Night, but it's likely when I last cruised DCL with my parents (4-night, Dream). We did both Palo and Remy that cruise, so I'm pretty sure one of those nights involved Buccaneers (they weren't interested in Pirate Night, so I didn't factor that into my dinner reservation planning). The one thing I didn't notice was pirate garb. Figure the vast majority of those who would dress for Pirate Night want to have the pirate dinner, too.
Off the cuff (so to speak), if that jacket looks too much like a costume and not enough like 18th Century cruise formalwear, you'd feel out of place at Remy (and might be asked to swap jackets for the loaners they have available, if needed). Barbossa's beard and cocked hat? Forget about it - definitely not in the Remy spirit.

My husband and I have been to Palo several times on pirate night, and I did not notice anyone in pirate dress, but then I wasn't looking for it. I think it would have stood out, though, because it definitely does not feel like pirate night in there. I am sure Remy would be even more sedate.
We have done an early "dinner" with our kids at which we just had an appetizer, then dined at Palo after dropping them off at the Club/Lab. If you are going mainly for atmosphere, just let your servers know and they will be happy to accommodate you.

I was trying to justify spending $200+ on a Pirate Costume. Even though I was seriously entertaining the idea that I could wear a Pirate Jacket with a nice shirt and black pants, then later put of a hat with a feather, and knee high boots. I know full well that even if I'm weird enough to do that, DW would NEVER let me!

Back in Feb 2013 you could only buy cruise-length rainforest passes. No day passes. And they didn't book them in advance - you had to go to the spa on boarding day to buy them.
