As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). We will be enjoying our first cruise ever in June and I still feel so lost. We are flying into Seattle and had originally planned on driving up with friends as they were going to drive, but they have since cancelled. We are working on arrangments from Seattle up to Vancouver, which I'm actually not panicking about.
But we have not made arrangments for the return. We do not have a flight booked and at this point, I'm leaning towards flying home from Vancouver instead of Seattle to avoid the hassle of trying to get from Vancouver to Seattle.
So my question (one of many, I'm sure), is can we arrange a ground transfer through Disney from the cruise ship to the airport for a return flight? Or what would be our other option for easily getting from the ship to the airport? I'm assuming a cab, but if anyone has any experience with this in Vancouver, I would love to hear what you did.
We took a cab from Vancouver Airport to the cruise terminal, as we were staying at the Pan Pacific there, in 2011. I've just looked back at the trip report I wrote at the time and it says that the cab ride cost us $35 (I assume Canadian ones... ) and it was very quick and easy. I'd certainly recommend it to anyone.
We used Disney transfers from the port to the airport in Vancouver. It was very easy and went off without a hitch.
We flew into Vancouver a few days before our cruise and took public transportation (rail) to the port (stayed at the Pan Pacific). It was easy and inexpensive but I don't know that I would choose that unless you have a good hunk of time before your flight. Our experience was that flights from Vancouver to our part of the country left around noon, or much later in the evening -after 6 pm.
Are you going to be spending any time in Vancouver? We loved Vancouver almost as much as the cruise so I would highly recommend it if it's an option for you.

We also stayed at the Pan Pacific and we flew into Seattle taking the shuttle from the airport directly to the Pan Pacific. It was much less expensive to fly in and out of Seattle than Vancouver. We spent a few days prior to the cruise and one day after the cruise in Vancouver. It was wonderful and we loved that city.

We are flying into Seattle on Friday night and planned on taking Amtrak up to Vancouver on Sunday, with the ship going out on Monday, so we'll have at least Sunday afternoon to do a little exploring in Vancouver. We haven't decided when we're flying home after the cruise, if we'll spend a day or two, or head right home the same day, so I'm not sure if we'll get more time to explore.

There's every variety of transport available, with or without DCL's help. We have a page dedicated to the topic in our DCL guide. There are no-reservation walk-up shuttle vans both at the airport and downtown.
The most economical is SkyTrain (subway). The station is a few blocks from Canada Place, and it runs right to the airport. You'd hardly be alone on the trip, there are even airline check-in kiosks on the downtown train platforms. If you just have one rolling bag apiece, it's fairly practical. More luggage than that?

Someone else did mention the SkyTrain too, so now I'm thinking that looks like a great option. And the plan is to definitely stick with just 1 piece of luggage each, plus a carryon. I work in Boston and take public transportation all the time around here, so I would hope I'm capable of doing so elsewhere.
One other thing I really need to make sure I do is to schedule a car or shuttle to get us from SeaTac to our hotel when we arrive in Seattle. It's a really late flight, so chances are we're not going to have the subway as an option there if I remember correctly from the schedule.
You'll find the Link Light Rail (used it, loved it) runs until 1:00 am Mon-Sat, and until Midnight Sunday. However, you should also check with your hotel, as a fair number offer shuttles/ground transport.
