As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Disney Premier Visa bonus if you already have Rewards card?
Hello all,
I currently have a Disney Visa Rewards card, and I was thinking of getting the Premier when we get back from the Peace Corps next year if it's still offering the 200 dollar bonus.
Has anyone applied for the Premier while holding a Rewards card and gotten the sign-up bonus? The fine print only says that previous cardholders aren't eligible for the bonus -- Rewards and Premier seem like 2 different cards to me, but Chase might not see it that way.

I did the premier in my name and the basic in my husbands name and was assured by customer service that was fine as long as we spent the required $500 per card (paying for trip anyway, why not earn gift cards) and have received the $200 and $100 gift cards already. They actually came in the mail before the statements. I did not have a chase card prior to these. Great way to earn bonus point and $300 spending $!
I applied for premiere and got one of each in the mail. Premiere gave me a 100.00 credit, then charged the 49.00 fee. The basic sent me a 50.00 GC so far...

We thought about upgrading until we read the find print about something to the effect of the charge for the card WILL ( I am pretty sure it said will) increase after the first year. It sounded shady to us.
Has anyone had the Premier OVER a year and by how much did the charge for the card (annually is it?) raise?

Thanks for the replies. When we get closer to our return date, I may try to apply for the Premier if it's offering a 200 dollar bonus.
If not, my other new card, I've decided, will be a Costco Amex. 2% back on travel and 2% back on restaurants (plus 3% back on gas and 1% back on Costco/everything else) will reap me the same benefits as the Disney Premier (in fact, with more travel costs earning 2%), and with no annual fee. The only "Premier" benefits I'd forego are Disney Store/Disney Parks stores 2% (I don't buy a lot of "stuff") and cashing in towards airfare (which I'd never use). Every other benefit of the Premier is available on the free Disney Rewards card.
PS The only reason I can think of that you saw a notice saying the annual fee would increase after the 1st year is if you got an offer with the first year's fee waived. Those were floating around when the card came out. Even if the fee was raised, you could simply cancel the card.
We got the Rewards card overnighted to us before our recent trip and were surprised to find the $200 giftcard in our held mail when we were sorting through it. We figured you'd have to put the required $500 on the card AND pay it off before they'd send the giftcard, but not so.
A pleasant surprise that we can use for some Photopass products we were considering getting.
