As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I’ve attempted writing one other TR and I don’t think I made it past my first entry. Maybe this time around I’ll make it to post #2 I’ve decided to try better to document my upcoming trip because it is a pretty special one!
Our trip is December 7-13, 2013 and is only a party of 2!
Wendy (Me)
I’m 31, a proud and happy aunt of 3 (2 nieces, 1 nephew), lover of TV shows and WALT DISNEY WORLD! My favorite of the fab 5 is Donald. Jasmine is my favorite princess and I have an aversion to Tinker Bell (I was named after Wendy from Peter Pan and Tink just steals her thunder). My grandparents lived in Daytona Beach when I was a child and we visited WDW a few times for day trips and I also had the amazing privilege of visiting the week of Christmas when I was in 7th grade. But I became the Disney-nut that I am today from visiting WDW as an adult. I had the opportunity to visit around age 24/25 with a friend whose brother had moved to Orlando and I’ve been back 8 times since then. All 8 of those trips have included my sweet mother, most of them just the 2 of us. But this trip is a whole new adventure. I’m going with…
Richard (my NEW husband )
We are newlyweds and this will be Richard’s FIRST EVER trip to Walt Disney World!! I could NOT be more excited. I’ve been dreaming of having a husband to go to WDW with for the last 8 trips and the time has finally come to do just that! And even better that I get to be the one to introduce him to something so magical and that I love SO much. He’s 30, an excellent musician (in our band at church he’s plays every instrument at one point or another), and a lover of techy and geeky things. As excited as I am to go with him, I am a little nervous. I’m praying he loves it at least a little Although, he says he’s sure he’ll love it because I do and he loves seeing me happy. His favorite Disney movies are The Lion King and Up.
We got married on May 3rd of this year and it was absolutely beautiful and perfect (although I have heard some things people kept from me the day of to at least make ME think it was perfect!).
It was less than a month after we said “I do” that we booked our first trip to WDW! I think we got started on the right foot While we did take a honeymoon that wasn’t to WDW, we are treating this trip is an extension of our honeymoon. I even had a CM add a note to our reservation that this is a honeymoon, because most days, I’m blessed to say that I do still feel like we’re in that honeymoon phase.
Next up: Let the planning begin!

I'm in the same boat in that I want to take my boyfriend to Disney and he'll be a first timer. He isn't super into it like I am but says the same "I love seeing you happy" bit. I hope everything works out beautifully for you two.
WDW - August 1997 Off Property
WDW - January 2005 AKL
WDW - May 2006 Pop Century
WDW- november-dec 2007 pop century
WDW- dec/jan 2009/2010 pop century
WDW- oct/nov 2012 art of animation
WDW- sept 2013 port Orleans riverside
WDW- july 2015 beach club
When I was in my first year of my marriage a sweet old lady (in the checkout line of a KMart) looked at me and asked if I was married. I said I was and had just recently gotten married (earlier that year). She told me I was a beautiful bride and when I told her it had been several months, she said when she grew up a bride was a bride for a year!! I thought that was really sweet and from then on enjoyed that title more than I had. It will be a LOT of fun for your new husband to go with you and I'm sure he'll get a kick out of all the cool techie things at WDW!!!

I began planning immediately because that’s just what I do! I know I’m not the only one who views the planning part of going to WDW as almost as fun as the trip itself!
Before the trip was even booked, I was pretty positive I already knew where I’d want to stay for this trip. Now, since we took a honeymoon earlier this year, we didn’t really want to spend the big bucks on a deluxe resort. However, I also didn’t want this special trip to be spent at POP Century… So a moderate seemed like the way to go. I have only stayed at one moderate so far and that was POFQ. And I LOVED it!! I feel like it will be the perfect romantic choice on a budget. So, that’s where we are going to be staying. I just love the quaint feel of the resort and all the little pathways to stroll along. The grounds are just beautiful. I can’t wait to get there! Another reason POFQ will be fitting is that we spent a night in New Orleans on our honeymoon. So it’ll be a nice throwback to that time.
As far as dining is concerned, we considered doing the DP, but added up what we thought we might spend and ultimately decided to just do OOP. I’ve done both in the past, and while I like “feeling” like I’m not really paying for food while I’m on vacation, I prefer the freedom of ordering exactly what I want – whether that is an appetizer OR dessert. Or perhaps skipping dessert at the restaurant and going to get something I REALLY want instead, like a yummy cupcake or carrot cake cookie. Or maybe sharing a meal. Yada, yada, yada. Although, we would have done the DP if the FREE DP dates worked out, but for whatever reason our week is skipped right over Oh well.
