As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Was on a run this morning and had one of my usual things that irks me happen, and as my mind was wondering, thought it would be a fun thread for on here.... so just wondering what things, possibly amusing, possibly not, do you all find gets you on your runs. I'll start with some...
- When I'm taking a drink from the squirt bottle of my Fuel Belt, and I manage to shoot right at the dangly-thing at the back of my throat and choke a bit on it (that's what happened this morning... hehe)
- When I forget to prepare properly for chafing. Nipples are sensitive......
- When I stop my GPS watch during a run and forget to re-start it (only done that once, luckily almost at the end)
- When people walk completely across the pathway that is my usual running route. There is a dog walking group that will walk five to six across, without dogs on leashes to boot, that immediately comes to mind
- When I give a good morning/afternoon/evening greeting to people I pass going the other way, and they don't even make note of it. I mean, come on, I'm blind and saw you well enough to say hi...the least you can do is not say hi back?
......so a start I guess...anyone have anything else?
Tim

Running past the houses early in the morning that are having breakfast. That smell of bacon wafting through the air is just plain rude.
Bugs. In my mouth. In my eyes.
Getting stung by bees.
Getting a bloody nose.
And I agree, fellow runners who don't even smile. What the heck?

When you go out on a 10++ mile long run and realize at mile 6 that the Clif Shot you brought for much needed energy has expired and not safe to eat. This happened to me last weekend.
When you have forgotten to charge your (much relied upon) Garmin watch and it goes dead on you at the very beginning of your run.
Pebbles and other various debris that make their way into your running shoes.
Mmmmmm, yes. Odours during runs. I don't mind the yummy food smells so much, takes my mind off of things. What I hate are the highschool aged boys that marinade in cologne waiting at bus stops if I get out early enough for a run. I almost choke when running past.
Also one of the things I hate about my early morning long runs.....I run past several townhouse complexes, with many of the residents outside in either the front or backyards (depending on which way they face) having their morning smoke...ugh.....
Roadkill? ugh.....had what I'd like to think was a dead possum, but was probably a huge dead rat along the sidewalk less than 1km into my out and back route from home...so I'd usually see it twice per run. Amazing to see decamp in action, because it took the city many more weeks to actually clean it up than I thought it would.
....and Amy, my question is how/WHY are you checking the best before date on a Clif Shot on Mile 6? The only thing I look at when I ingest a Gu is what flavour I have to choke down... hehe..... I love that one....
Great ones all...love reading them
Tim

OH! Running in the cold. Yes, that's a biggie. Didn't think of it since it's summer now. I absolutely hate running in anything below 40. Can't do it. Just can't. Frozen foot pain, frozen finger pain, frozen ear pain.
Got one more today - garbage. Just general garbage in the street. Is it really that hard for folks to hang on to their slurpee cup and toss it in a trash can?

The foot pain is happening now. I didn't have any issues when it was cold out side. Instead of ice baths in the winter, I would sit in the snow. I'm nervous that I'm injured, but since I don't have any health insurance there's no way to know.
Bikers who dont share the trail... Come on guys you are going way faster than me, you can do single file...just wait to continue your conversation after you pass me!
Bikers who dont say "On your left" and just zoom by
People who dont pick up their dog poop...Ive had a pair of shoes ruined by this....and yes I am a snob and refuse to clean poop off of my shoes. Easier to throw out and get a new pair....hmmm maybe I should step in it more often to get newer shoes faster??
Inhaling bugs
And most of all??? Being called a jogger!!! I am a runner darnit! I may be slow but Im still a runner!

Ha, Amanda...funny! Please don't try competing with my overwealming desires to run further and longer in Nike+. I'm amazed at how competitive I can be with myself at times....
And cold? Can't wait till I get to do some early morning long runs preparing for the marathon come December. Luckily I don't live in a stupid cold part of Canada, so the runs shouldn't be too far below zero (Celsius)
And garbage? Hey, I managed to beat a plastic bag being blown down the sidewalk today

Having a spider web hit your face! I hate spiders and if there is a web there is a spider.
Wet socks!!!!! There was a huge rain/hail storm the night before my last tri. Part of the bike course flooded and we had to ride in water that was over my pedals so my socks got wet. I was so tempted to change them before the run but I knew my coach would kill me!
Actually, now that you mention it, I hate little dogs on my runs in general. They tend to be the stupid ones that dart out in front of you at the last minute, and the owners (God love them) tend to be older persons who don't have the reflexes or strength to keep their dogs in check. Haven't managed to be tripped up by one yet, but I am also stupidly vigilant whenever running near them (probably also partially due to the next to no vision as well hehe)
Winter I don't mind so much, but I will agree with the wet feet....I love when you get that soaker 5 minutes into a 45 minute run, then have your fingers mentally crossed for no blisters for the rest of it

I hate mean little dogs who lunge at you at the last minute as you are trying to get past them and their elderly owners. I have one little old man with a Boston Terrier that when I see them, I just turn around and go another way. It's not worth the hassle of trying to get by him and his dog that he has no control over at all!
So...I'm relatively new runner and I think everything annoys me. I can't wait to feel a runner's high.
I agree with the neighbors/runners/walkers who don't say hi. I can barely breath and I manage it.
I have big dogs and pick up poop so it drives me nuts when people don't.
I hate the track..it scares me and I hate running it.
I'm very glad to hear that seasoned runners get annoyed and it's not all carefree.
