As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Okay - so if you have followed my last TR (link in sig) you already know that we were just in Disney a month ago - and unfortunately it didn't end well ~ my FIL passed while we were in Disney, therefore we ended our trip a bit early to return home. And things have been just so hard since we have been home, which we expected...........but some of it we didn't expect to be as hard as it is
So how did this new trip come to be? A few weeks ago we (myself, hubbie, and daughter) were discussing what to do for DD's 14th birthday weekend (we usually try to do a quick weekend getaway with just the 3 of us around her birthday) - and everything we were looking at was quite pricey, and we realized that my husband has to work that Saturday and Sunday (her birthday is Monday - the 19th) and they have denied anymore vacation days for anyone for the month of August - so Scott (my husband) suggested that Emily and I use the airline credits we have, get a few more days on our AP's and just the 2 of us head back to Disney!!! Twist my arm . Well, Emily's arm was the one that actually needed some twisting - as much as she LOVES Disney, she was unsure if she really wanted to be away from Daddy on her birthday - but after him reassuring her it would be okay and that he wouldn't be able to take the weekend off - she was excited to say YES and book it!!
So the details:
Who's going:
Myself (Lisa, 41): been to Disney many, many times - absolutely LOVE anything Disney especially Tinker Bell and Stitch, and of course Dole Whips!!!
Emily (13, turning 14 during trip!): been to Disney more than most kids her age!!! LOVES Disney and just about every character - finally starting to warm up to the villains!
When:
Leaving on Saturday August 17th on an 8am flight, arriving at MCO approximately 11am, and returning home on a late flight (7ish) on Tuesday, August 20th - so we get 3 nights/4 days.
Where are we Staying:
Pop Century - I received an email about Disney Visa Cardholder room only discounts (turns out AP discount was the same!). Due to the short trip, we decided that this resort would be fine for the 2 of us (we usually stay DVC, however, just used all our points in July!) as we probably won't be in the room much! We tried very hard to get Art of Animation Little Mermaid standard room with no such luck (we have a goal to eventually stay at every Disney resort!), so we will stick with what we got!
So now we have been planning, planning, planning............unpacked finally from the last trip to only start repacking very soon.............however, with such a short trip (in hot weather!) we plan to just do carry ons this time!
Up Next:
Some of our plans................and a little Disney Magic before we even get there!

Glad you started this, Lisa! It's so sweet that Emily didn't want to be away from her dad for her birthday, but it doesn't sound like you'd see much of Scott in any case. I know it will make him glad that his two girls are having some quality time together!

Thanks Laurie!!! It will be odd to not have Scott with us for her birthday (we have always spent the day together) but he is very excited for us to go - and I think he is secretly looking forward to some time alone! He even gave me a couple Disney gift cards for our anniversary this past Friday!!

So like I mentioned, this is a very short trip - and we have some plans, but it will mostly be a fly by the seat of our pants type of trip!!! You would think as many times as we have been to Disney that Emily would be so over all the excitement, etc ~ OH NO!!! Each and every trip is filled with gotta do it, gotta see it, gotta ride it, gotta meet them pace! And with this being such a short trip, I am expecting little sleep and LOTS of running!
So our weekend will begin on Saturday August 17th with my step-father and mom driving us to Providence (Scott will be at work already ) airport for our 8:10 a.m. flight, I am hoping that the winds will be with us and allow us to land early, however, we are scheduled to land at 11:00 a.m. We plan to do carry on luggage, so there will be no need to go to baggage claim - we will be able to proceed directly to DME (Emily is very excited about this - again, as many times as we have visited Disney - this is only our 2nd time doing DME!), where we are hoping to find a waiting bus, taking off as soon as we plop our rears in the seat and hoping to be the first stop, getting to POP by 12 noon................hey a girl can dream, right?
We are hoping to have a room immediately ready when we check in............so we will see, if not, we will check our bags and head straight to Magic Kingdom, get our Photopass + card, grab some lunch (hoping to get to Tortuga as we missed that last trip), and a ride on Space Mountain - This is a MUST first for Emily for every trip! Depending on time will determine if/what else we ride here - as we will have to head over to Hollywood Studios.............................as we had a SURPRISE added to our reservation.....................we were offered to participate in Magic Band testing!!!!
So we have Fastpass + reserved for Hollywood Studios - we were able to chose 3 attractions, so we chose Rock n Roller Coaster, Toy Story Mania, and Star Tours. We are also hoping to catch Character Palooza this day. If we get hungry we will probably just grab counter service here - and then we will probably head back to Magic Kingdom after using our fastpass+.
Up Next: More fastpass + plans!

I'm so excited to hear how it goes with your magic bands- they look super
Totally random but I'm dying to do a Wishes! desert party but Allen and Tyler don't really have any interest. Would you and Em be game? Stella is currently obsessed with Wishes (and specifically when Tink flies!!) Not sure if there is any availability but figured I'd ask
