As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I am not a roller coaster fan, but I have been trying to convince myself that I could manage Space Mountain. I do like Big Thunder Railroad, but it isn't really a coaster. I recently saw a program about WDW, and the part about SM said it only goes @25mph. Are there big drops or crazy hills?
My kids want to go and DH loves it---so I want to be brave and go too. Just trying to get a feel for what it is like.

I'm not a huge coaster fan either but I did go on this one. I found it to be ok but had to ride with my eyes closed (the lights made me feel more sick than the actual coaster).
I can't remember the ups and downs of the ride as it was 10 years ago but I hope this helps a bit
I like it and I'm not great with coasters, it was the next one I managed after big thunder mountain. It is more turns than ups and downs and the downs are little ones.

Space Mountain is one of my favorites. It is very jerky but doesn't have any huge hills. There are some drops and quick turns. I think the fact that you can't see what's coming up due to the darkness makes it much more fun. It is more of a roller coaster than Thunder Mountain but I think SM is a good coaster to graduate to after BTM.
Space Mountain is a great ride, but not one of my favorites. I always feels as if I have been beaten up after I get off. From what I remember, the seats had more padding last August than before, which helped somewhat. It is really fun in the dark but is very jerky and bone jolting, something I do not get from BTMRR or EE.
I love roller coaster, but I find myself very sore from the neck up after riding SM. I think it must be the way the seat are, as I do not have this issue on any of the other coasters.

Huge coaster fan here... love them but this one is a bit jerky for me, although I ride it, I too find myself a tad sore afterwards. It's completely dark so you can't see what's coming which I think is the reason it's so jerky (your unable to brace yourself). Quick turns and a few hills but not overlly huge..
I feel the same way about costers and I love BTMRR, but I have yet to try SM but I have been told that its much like BTMRR just in the dark I think SM would be fine I am going to try it when we go in August because it took a lot for me to ride BTMRR, but I liked it in the end !

YAY thats the spirit I mean it can be that bad right ? I hope I will let you know how it goes in AUG
Be brave and do it! If you focus more on the feel and speed of the ride, and less on the lights and sounds, you can actually feel how slow you're going and it's not that bad.
I used to be able to do SM, but since the refurb a few years ago, I've only been on once and will not do it again. It's too jerky and because you are in complete darkness you can't brace youself. I ended up with quite a headache.
The first time I rode this was about 40 years ago. I swore I'd never ride it again. Then you sat clear down in the floor of your car between you partners legs and they strapped you in together. It felt really fast, but it may have been more of an. Illusion. Went on it a few years ago, and didn't find it anywhere near as scary. Now you sit up on seats with belts. I did think it felt rough and bounced around. It has been refurbed since then, so it may have needed some track work. I also thought Big Thunder was a lot rougher this year, too.

Space Mountain is really kind of dinky, but the darkness does make it more exciting. I love it, find it very exhilerating. It is also absolutely beautiful, as you whiz past the night sky.
