As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

What a great episode. John and Jessica trying to make teams suck up to them, I’m not sure that very nice. I’m proud that David and Connor kind of refused to suck up to them.
That whole Priest ceremony was cool. Phil told us to pay attention to it for later in the race.
Then on to the Detour Peal or trunk what would you do. Both would have been cool to do but I think I might have gone for trunk. Seeing as I don’t think I couldn’t dive like that. Poor Idries and Jamil afraid of water trying to snorkel and get pearls. I glad the switched I just wish it had been sooner that might have moved on. The teams that got a system did real well. I could have done that one if I could sit in the boat and open them and who ever my mate was dived. Then they got to do jet a ski, that was awesome.
Road Block!! I can’t do stilts so I would have had to let my mate do it. Kicking the coconut over that line was a lot harder then it looked wasn’t it? Bates and Anthony really had so good balance going. Poor David hurting himself. I hope he can continue. That brings us to next week.
We had to Phil’s home town of Christchurch,NZ. He says we’ll find out what a Shemozzle Race is. He also said he helped set up some pretty wild challenges from his past, Sounds interesting.
We also find out what will happen to David and Connor with his injury and needing crutches. So till then keep your Kiwi feed and see ya then my racing peeps.
I could not understand why the doctors were talking about quitting during the pearl diving when they hadn't even tried the other Detour yet. They were very frustrating to watch. It was clear that they are not cut out for this game.
I'm liking Joey and Meagan at this point. They seem like they are thinking things through well.
Connor and David not reading their clue and leaving the snorkling gear behind was a huge mistake but they made up time really well. I hope they don't have to quit because of David's achilles. That would be so sad.
I felt for the Drs. I am extremely uncomfortable in the water myself, so I had sympathy. But I was confused on why they didn't switch to the other challenge sooner.
I'm afraid the father/son team will be out next week with injury. Hope not, but I suspect that will happen.
I liked the drs but I honestly don't know why these people apply for the race if they are afraid of water, and don't know how to drive a standard. If $1 M was on the line, I would be trying to run and get myself in shape. The show has been on long enough for these people to know to prepare for the show. Although we have seen many of an athlete fall too, but just knowing a few things ahead of time, would help to make things easier for them. We all have phobias and we know that you can't totally prepare for a show, but running, heights, driving a standard, water and heat are ones that you know you will have to encounter.
Good show but that one "just married" couple bother me.
I enjoyed the challenges. As Starbright says you should at least work on your fitness level ( I'm looking at you Alabama wife ) and while you might not be able to eliminate fear you could try to at least be more comfortable in the water. ( I'm guessing the Dr's don't do any water births)
I am enjoying that there is not pair that constantly bickers with each other. The just married couple are unlikeable but at least they seem to like each other.
Now if you get eliminated in Bora Bora does the show keep you there until the race is over ? That wouldn't be too hard to take.

I totally agree. I don't like heights, but if I got onto that show, I would be going to some high ropes course and make sure that I can balance and walk across the line even if I was uncomfy. Oh, and for me, I would have to be able to read a map since I am dyslexic, that has always been an issue.
The kids were cheering Winnie and Pam along as they do not like the newlywed couple.
The brothers. I was sort of glad to see them go this week. The whining was getting to me. You know there is going to be water involved somewhere, so buck up and take it.
I'm deathly afraid of heights! I would try and get over some of that not just to win the money but be able to move on in the race to see the other countries. There are a lot of things I haven't done in this world, but sitting around whining about them isn't going to advance you in the race.
My team didn't seem quite as annoying this week. I think they are starting to buckle down and really take the seriously.
I have to agree about getting ready for the show. I think I would go to Chicago and go to that floor in the Sears Tower that has the glass floor and just look down to help settle my heights fear, also a hot air balloon ride too.
Here is a question for everyone...how would you get ready for a show like The Amazing Race? As stated above, I would have to go to a high ropes course, and learn to read a map by going to a LARGE city.
*how long do they give you to prepare for it Marci?

I would take some sort of swimming lessons to make myself more comfortable in the water. And I already know how to drive a stick, so that's ok. I would most definitely work on my fitness level and work on being able to run some since it is something you will have to do at some point during the race!
It's been interesting so far.................and I have to say - I am happy that my team (Mona & Beth) seem to be somewhat quiet so far.........not really butting heads with anyone...........yet
To prepare to be on the show....................MAN....................... I would have to do so much!!! I am such a wimp!!! I would have to brush up on my swimming for sure - conquer my fear of heights - and wean myself from Diet Coke.............I could get real UGLY without it!!!

I would need to learn how to dive underwater so I could do something like the pearl challenge & drive stick.
I think the gross food challenge would worry me the most. But I'm not willing to do any prep on that one
I would have to get in better shape, I would take some swimming lessons. I can swim somewhat now, would just want to be a stronger swimmer. I would have to figure out how to get over my fear of heights. Maybe I could get hypnotized to not be afraid.
I can drive a stick, so that wouldn't be a problem. I'm usually willing to try just about any food, it would just depend on how it smelled. Any food challenge would be up to me as the wife would not do it. Maybe I could take the food and she takes the heights.
