As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Highlight of your summer so far...
OK everyone, we are into the the dog days of summer down here. The vacations have been taken, it's too hot to walk to the mailbox, and the kids are getting on each other's nerves with 3 1/2 weeks to go until school! So, tell me, what has been your best memory or highlight of summer so far? The twist is, it can't be a big trip or vacation....it has to be an outing or gathering, or just something simple. Maybe your ideas will give me a few of my own to get me through until mid-August when school starts! I'll start...
My husband was out of town this past week, so my three DDs and I had a girls night. We rented movies and popped popcorn and then when my youngest two went to sleep my oldest DD (10) and I watched her first PG-13 movie (which she has been begging me about!), Legally Blonde. That was fun and she felt grown up watching an adult movie with just mom. We spent the night all in my room....3 in the bed and one on the floor in a sleeping bag. Re: Highlight of your summer so far...
Wow, that sounds like a fun night and what a great question!! I would have to say that so far, my highlight was two nights ago. I went out with just my husband to a local Bennigan's and had cheeseburgers, a huge Sam Adams on draft and some really great conversation!! We don't get to unwind like that much and it was really fun!!

Re: Highlight of your summer so far...
I would have to say the highlight for me was a week and a half ago when DD decided she could finally walk by herself. She stood up in the middle of the kitchen, looked at me and ran into my arms laughing. Now when I pick her up at daycare in the evenings she runs over to me with her arms stretched out. Of course since then we have had two bloody lips, a scraped knee and many bonks on the head, chin, etc. as she perfects not just walking but running too.

Re: Highlight of your summer so far...
One of my highlights was last week when after dinner the girls 3 and 5 decided to go and catch lightening bugs. Well I'm sure you've seen the WDW commerical with the little girl and "Tinker Bell". My youngest was running around the yard saying "Mommy look at all the Tinker Bells" and she was running around laughing and saying bye-bye to Tinker Bell and she'll see her real soon at Cinderella's castle. It was just a magical moment!!!

Re: Highlight of your summer so far...
Love this question and we're only 16 days from school starting back.
This summer's best event was when two of our dear friends were married in June. Several get togethers leading up to the big day including the rehearsal dinner at a country club where everyone had such a good time... lots of tears and laughter as toast after toast was declared.
But the wedding itself was the most fun and beautiful I've ever been to (sans my own) and the bride was Cinderella incarnate. Nine of us friends got together and rented a limo for the occasion which picked us up at each of our homes, drove us to the church, then back to the country club for the reception, and out after that. There was champagne and more in the limo, good food, dancing all night and being with so many of our friends knowing that you didn't have to drive home made for a rather freeing experience.
We had so much fun, in fact, that we're planning another limo trip to Birmingham for the same group of people to go dancing together again!

Re: Highlight of your summer so far...
My highlight has been that the kids don't have afterschool responsiblities (no homework, no scouts), so we are much more relaxed every day. Hate it that we are back in school in less than three weeks.

PS Then there was that nice trip to WDW that we took .

Re: Highlight of your summer so far...
I have absolutely NO highlights yet this summer!! The weather has been awful. I've barely had the chance to use our pool. All I've done so far is go to work! I guess the closest thing to a highlight so far is going out to dinner on Monday at Cracker Barrel for my birthday. How pathetic of a life I have! UGH!!

Re: Highlight of your summer so far...
Okay, since I can't count the trip to the World, I will have to say that so far it has been splashing around with my youngest son in our wading pool. It's just one of those plastic sided pools but it's 18" deep and 8' across so it's big enough for the two of us and some floats. Bright sun, birds singing, bobbing around in the cool non-chlorinated water, great fun.

Re: Highlight of your summer so far...
Since we don't have any kids (yet, anyway) summer is really no different than winter. I guess I enjoy the weather most of all. We are looking forward to a trip to Silver Dollar City Aug. 14-17 to celebrate our 4th anniversary. It would be nice to come home with a "little souvenier" .

Re: Highlight of your summer so far...
It's got to be sitting sunbathing in our garden, which we're working hard to make into our own - and believe me, it's a big project! It's so nice to just take some quality time out there, away from the work. On Sunday afternoon I was lying out in lovely hot sun and a butterfly landed on my shoulder and just sat there until I moved. Magical.... I know it's only something small, but it sums up Summer to me.

Re: Highlight of your summer so far...
my dd#1 had a sunday school party a couple of weeks ago for the kids and their families at the teacher's ranch. they rode horses and ponies, had a hayride, fed the horses, and swam in the pool. oh, and of course, we ate a lot! in a couple of weeks we're off to the beach, so that should be tops.

Re: Highlight of your summer so far...
Uh nothing really exciting happening here so I guess I will have to say I love sleeping in late and not running back and forth to the schools for the kids! 41 more days until it all starts again!
