As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Has anyone been at Disney World lately Is this indeed how she looks there now too? It definitely looks more modern, but I'm not sure if I like it. Her look is classic and I'm just not sure it should be tampered with.

I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't mentioned it.
The dress looks a little more like the "winter" dress we've seen at the holidays. I know the dress in our photos doesn't look like the one my friends saw in the summer.

A month ago, she looked like the one in your photo with whom you are dancing. I like this new dress. It's poofier and reminds me more of a ball gown than the current one which just seems to hang down. The new bodice is nicer (more structured), and I even like the sleeves better. Still looks like Cinderella, just fresher and more elegant looking.
To be honest (don't hate me--I know you love Cinderella, and she's my mom's favorite too), I thought Cinderella's older costume looked drab and conservative. I would think Disney would want to put its Princesses in nicer dresses. I suppose you can't put the Princesses in hoop skirts or it would be difficult for the smaller children to get near the Princesses for the photo-op hugs? Imagine a Princess turning around, and her hoop skirt knocks down a two year old!
Even in the animated movie, her dress had much more of a wow factor than the actual dress that the CMs wear in the parks. In the final analysis, Cinderella is beautiful, no matter what dress she wears. Isn't that the true moral of the story? It isn't what you wear, it's who you are inside. *Come to think on it, the prince didn't deserve her. He only recognized her because of the glass slipper. You'd think he would have looked at her and said, "Hey, it's you."

Good to hear that people are liking it. I was worried it would take away from classic Cinderella....and she is so elegant and beautiful. I hoped that they hadn't went too "teenage poppy" type looking!
That said, Love your final analysis........!!!! That is so true. A beautiful person can be dressed in a burlap bag, the key is looking past the glamour to the true heart of a person!

I guess I'm just clueless, but the dress and hairstyle are so close to the old version that unless someone had mentioned it, I would never have noticed. They look almost exactly the same.....

Except that it wasn't the prince that had her try on the glass slipper... it was a servant to the prince and he would not have recognized her.

I am coming around on the dress. It does have some advantages. I do like the sleeves better. The way they fall around her arms is prettier than the elastic and shoulder pads of the older one:
The only thing I think is kind of a shame with the new dress is the connection to her Mother's old dress seems less stated. Her Mother's dress had many bows, and flowing ribbons the mice and birds fashioned:
Her old dress had ribbon like features in the front at her waist that flowed back to a large bow that kind of tied the whole thing together. - Pun intended. - which I always thought was kind of a tribute to her mother.
The ribbon effect in the front seems less stated in the new dress, and I don't think I see a bow in the back. Yes, it's nitpicky, but the magic of Disney is in the details, is it not?
That being said, I think I am sold on this new dress. At first I thought it was going to be like the new Cinderella images they market for the merchandise, like at our local Wal Mart store:
Her new dress is definitely similar to the new merchandise, but seems more understated in the real life version.
All that being said. It is true, Cinderella is Cinderella. She is beautiful no matter what her dress looks like. She is beautiful in her scullery maid clothes as well.

I agree. It really is sad tho that the majority of people don't even know about that connection or what the old dress looks like. That part of the movie still makes me teary.

Oh I don't think that is nit picky at all. That bow just made the dress. And yes, the magic is in the details, and the people who love and understand the details! You just know there is a whole lot less magic for those who stand in line to see the Princesses and ask "So who is the one in the blue?" (remember that? I loved your reply tho, "what did you throw a dart at a map to get here or what?!?!? ......whispered quietly to me of course....lol) Sighhhhhhhh.

Just saw Cinderella twice in October 1 time at CRT and 1900 Park Fare and she still had the classic dress but I have been reading about the change. I like the new look sometimes change is good
