As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Don't know if everyone has a Kroger around, but if you do, DH and I made a discovery last night: if you buy gift cards through them, they give you 4X fuel credits. The only exceptions are Kroger gift cards and Visa/MasterCard/Am Ex. cards.
Plus, there is the added bonus that if you buy gift cards, they could help very much in your budgeting. We decided we'd buy some later this weekend, after looking at our budget for eating out and determining where we'd like to eat out for the rest of the month. We typically eat out 2-4 times a week - yeah, way too much, we're hoping this idea will help us with keeping it under control.
I went today and got some cards: 2 $25 cards to Amazon, I'll use them for Christmas gifts, $25 to Starbucks - and that's all I get for the rest of the month, and$50 to Applebees - I go out to eat with friends almost weekly, we take turns choosing the place and paying - guess where we're going when it's my turn??
Anyway - from $125 worth of cards, I earned 500 fuel credits. That's either 10 cents off 5 different times we go to Shell or 50 cents off at a Kroger gas station. (sometimes the local Kroger gas is more than Shell and it's cheaper to go there!)
I noticed they have Disney gift cards that can be used anywhere - and I know a lot of people on here buy their Disney gift cards to save up for a trip. You could use your Disney Visa, if you've got it, to pay and earn rewards $$, then get the cheaper price on fuel (leaving more money for Disney) and have the WDW cards!! Win!
No Kroger here, but our grocery store chain offered a $.50 off per gallon sale last week with a $100 receipt. No problem and we saved a bunch when we filled up the van. Love finding ways to save!
Another option is Target, with the Target Credit Card or Debit Card you get 5% off all purchases including what are called "entertainment cards" these include Disney Gift Cards, Restaurant Gift Cards, iTunes Gift Cards, Game System Points Cards, basically anything short of Target GiftCards and the Visa/Mastercard prepaid gift cards. With my husbands employee discount this comes to 14.5% savings on each card ( a $50 gift card for $42.75). The pharmacy discount system works for this too, after 5 prescription fills/refills you get a 5% off card in the mail good for one day of shopping, it stacks with the Credit/Debit card 5% discount. I have noticed some states also occasionally put the entertainment cards on sale. Not long ago some states had the Disney Gift cards for like 15% off, last week my Target had iTunes gift cards 15% off. Last year at christmas they had a facebook coupon for a $10 Target giftcard with a $50 purchase, it also worked on the entertainment cards.
You can also use Target gift cards to purchase entertainment cards. I used all of the gift cards I got with special purchase last year on Black Friday to buy a few Disney Gift cards for my weekend trip earlier this year
Does your Kroger let you accumulate points? Currently we can accumulate up to 2000 points - enough to get up to $2.00 off per gallon for a fill-up. I think this promotion ends at the end of the month - typically, I can store points to get up to $1.00 off. Right now, we're at 400 points or .40 off. Every bit helps, right?
I wracked up mass points this summer when I purchased Gift Cards to use on our trip.
