As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). My cousins and I...5 total...are going to Vegas in March. I know there are lots of free things to see and there are also things that cost $$$$. What is something you would pay to see? Thanks in advance!
We went recently for the first time.... I paid for the wax museum, but wasn't overly impressed.... We went to the M&M museum and it was essentially a four story gift shop- but it did have a pretty cute 4D film (it was FREE). We also really enjoyed the volcano @ the Mirage (again- FREE). Vallet parking is free on the strip also; just pay the tip.... We also went to the Hoover Dam (about 30 minutes) away and the cost was only $11 for the powerplant tour; I think that is something worth seeing as well....
Vegas is an awesome place! I would definitely do the Stratosphere and the rides (if your so inclined). I was just there, it's $18 to go to the top and the rides are extra. I also went up in the Eiffel Tower for the same price. It was ok, but it's small and the most major thing people do is watch the fountains. I would also pay for the roller coaster in NY, NY. The wax museum at the Venetian was neat to see one time.
The first time I went I got a Visiticket. It was worth it because I was inclined to "check out" things that I wouldn't normally have paid for. I compared the price after my trip compared with what I did and it was a big savings. (I think I had the 4 day ticket).
The Aquarium at Mandalay Bay was nice, Sigfried and Roy's secret garden was nice, but way overpriced. At the Luxor the white Bronco that OJ was in during the big chase is on display - free! At the Luxor there is the Titanic exhibition which was interesting. I think somebody, maybe Luxor, has Bodies, the exhibit. I saw it in Atlantic City years ago and it also was interesting, if your into anatomy and how the body works.
The "Freemont Street Experience" is also pretty neat. It's worth the bus fare of cab ride up there at night to see it. If you like "Pawn Stars" that's on the way to Freemont (about 3 blocks from the Stratosphere). But, I wouldn't go to the Gold and Silver Pawn shop after dark!

Definitely don't miss the Bellagio fountains - they are amazing. We personally loved the Grand Canyon as well - to us that's a must do when you visit Vegas for the first time.
When we have been in LV we have done a lot of sightseeing at the resorts on the on the LV strip. We don't care for the shows and don't go to them plus I think most of the shows are way overpriced.

Something you might want to consider is Las Vegas Discounts | Half Price Tickets Every Day | Tix4Tonight which offers discounted show tickets if you're willing to take a chance and buy what's available on a same day basis. You can score some really good seats at great prices sometimes. They will show you where the seats are before you commit to the purchase. There are several locations along the Strip. Not all shows will be available there, especially the most popular ones, but you'll be surprised by how many ARE available.
I'm not sure what's still playing in Vegas, but I've heard great things about the Jersey Boys show if you like Frankie Valli type music.
I've heard great things about the Cirque shows, but those can be pricey.
There are always great live concerts going on in Vegas, so you should see if any of your favorite performers will be there when you are.

You've gotta see a show while in Vegas. (We'll be there in March too!) I've seen a few, but for the old Vegas style (feather headdress, etc.), you have to see Jubilee! Jubilee! at Bally's Las Vegas (Exclamation point because that how's the show is billed, not because I'm very excited about it. ) Depending on what you like, there's a topless and non-topless version. I do believe those underage can see the non-topless show, which is generally the early show.
Circus Circus Adventure Dome Adventuredome Theme Park is fun. If you are older adults, maybe not up your alley, but I have a teenager and a first grader and it's great for the entire family.
I highly recommend seeing one of the Cirque shows. I've seen Mystere, O, and Love - and would go back to any of them in a minute. Mystere is classic Cirque and probably my personal favorite. O is amazing! The technology is incredible, but I've seen it twice and fell asleep both times. Don't get me wrong - it is great, but I don't think it has the feeling and atmosphere that I love about Cirque, but the special effects and the way water appears and disappears is awesome. If you're a Beatle's fan then Love is for you. I saw it when it was in previews several years ago, but hope to back. I've read good things about Ka and I know there are a couple of newer shows. I haven't been in 3-4 years, but we're headed back in September so I hope to see at least one Cirque show.
I also agree it's worth a trip downtown to see the Fremont Street Experience. Go after dark. It is really cool. I also like that downtown still has smaller, older casinos - and for the most part lower table minimums if you like to gamble.
One of my favorite Las Vegas experiences is to eat at the Mon Ami Gabi sidewalk cafe at Paris after dark. They don't take reservations for the outside seats (only for inside) so be prepared to wait. You get to watch people walk/drive up the strip and best of all you are sitting right across the street from the Bellagio light/water/music show. It goes off every 15 minutes after dark and the restaurant turns their music off so you can enjoy the show.
Absolutely go see "O" by Cirque de Soleil at the Bellagio. I've been to many zcirque shows and this was by far the most amazing. We saw if on arrival night and even jet lagged and exhausted we (9 of us) thought it was AMAZING. My DH and I also saw Jubilee at Bally's. We figured if we were Going to Vegas, we were going to a "Vegas" show. It was a ton of fun!
I love Vegas, and go every January. So much to do there that doesn't cost a thing. Just about every hotel on the strip is worth going in to look at. On the top of my list is 1)Wynn/Encore (my personal favorite place to stay) 2) Venetian/Palazzo, just walk along the canal and people watch. 3) Ceasars Forum Shops, I could lose days in there and never spend a dime. 4) Downtown, you really should see downtown at night at lease once, some things you can only see in Vegas and this is one.

They have a great breakfast buffet. Belgian waffles w/ fruit and Nutella - yum! Omelets and crepes made to order - double yum! Plus, any and all beverages are included. I know I looked like a nut w/ coffee, milk and OJ on the table, but I didn't care.

! I would LOVE to go to a cirque show!! But I doubt that anyone else would. I've heard that Shania Twain will be there and the others have showed interest in going to that. We get together once a month for supper and this next time everyone is supposed to bring the number 1 place they want to see and eat. Only one other cousin likes seafood and I've taken her to the Seafood Buffet at the Rio. She wants to eat there again.
