As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Just wondering...........I usually go to WDW every other year.....but "one of the kids" go the other year...so I'm wondering if it is worth getting. We (DVC members) are offered a 20% discount to start. J & B are going in September and I'm thinking about joining.....I plan a trip next September....Is it worth it for once a year visits ?

DH and I bought ours a few years ago and I have to say that I could use 2! LOL With all of the essentials that it holds; i.e. full-size bottles of shampoo, conditioner, hair spray, bug spray, scissors, extension cords, Q-tips, medicine (Tylenol, Pepto, Neosporin, etc.), clothes pins, over-the-door shoe rack to keep toiletries off the bathroom counter, laundry sheets, Lysol -- I could keep going!
It is definitely full and I love that I don't have to pack any of this when heading down! Saves us extra luggage fees, everything is organized, and it's all waiting for us when we arrive.
We only head down once a year, but we go for about 2 weeks and so we feel it's a great deal/product. However, even if you only o for a few days, why not have all of your must-haves already waiting for you -- and as you can tell from my mini list above, you can pack it with a lot of stuff! (Also, if you ever have any questions, etc., John, OL's owner, is really great about responding.)

I just took a brief look around and personally, for the cost, I wouldn't do it. That being said, we either drive in (so baggage fees aren't an issue) or we rent a vehicle if we fly in so there is always a trip to Walmart planned. I'd prefer to just pick up the things I need or want at Walmart. I can see how keeping things like bug spray, Lysol, stuff like that might be a $$$ saver in the end, but I've found you can get small cans of Lysol at the check out at Target and the bug spray we use doesn't come in a large bottle, so really it's not an issue to toss it in the essentials bag.
I don't know, it seems like a good idea but paying $100 for things to just sit somewhere, where things like sunscreen and and even shampoo/conditioner can go bad, doesn't seem worth it to me.

We go just about every year for a week at a time and didn't see the need in getting a locker. I have heard many good things about OL but we just don't go often enough to see where it make sense getting one.
That's really where we are as well. We are also beginning to stay a bit shorter and travel beyond Orlando not on points.
I guess we've been anywhere from two to four times a year since we bought into DVC and started using OL and I feel that it's worth it. Also, their service is great. Last year we evacuated to WDW after the tornadoes in AL while power was being restored to the region, and OL delivered our locker with only about four or five hour's notice!
I'd say the "sweet spot" (ideal circumstances) for having an Owner's Locker is 2+ trips per year, flying in to Orlando. If the OL can reduce your travel by one suitcase, that's $80-100 in luggage fees which mostly offsets the OL cost.
The nice thing about it is it's stuff you no longer need to hassel over. We never have to worry about packing rain ponchos, first aid kit, curling iron, our own bed sheets and literally dozens of other things which would otherwise have to be transported to WDW every single time. It's all right there waiting for us when we arrive.
It's also a great place to store things we would otherwise end up throwing out after the trip. We a partial bottle of liquid laundry detergent in ours plus some nonperishable food items. Other people use it to store alcohol, their own glasses, dishes, utensils, etc.
Sure it's a luxury...but what isn't on a Disney vacation? The OL is a great way to eliminate a lot of stress involved in preparing for trips. And the dollars saved in other areas (luggage fees, keeping items which would otherwise be thrown out, replacement cost for certain items when they are forgotten at home) help offset the OL cost.
I do want to leap in here and say i am a big fan and user of owners locker.
we travel by air, one trip per year.
i keep pretty much all of my trip clothing in the locker, as well as french press, coffee grinder etc. toiletries, first aid kit etc. So - no fuss packing at all.
we have now added a second locker - as our older teens bring friends we make use of being able to do five people (legitimately) in a one bedroom, but like to use an air bed and bedding, stored in the locker. Once we add in rain coats, ponchos, spices etc. two lockers fill up pretty quickly.
