As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Hiya.! looking at staying in Coronado Springs Resort next time i visit Disney and have read very mixed re views so far.! have any of you guys stayed there.? i seen there is a business conference centre and am wndering if that made a difference to anyones stay there.
Any information you can give will be appreciated.!!
My DH and I stayed at CS back in 2006 and loved it! The resort has a Southwest feel. We stayed in a water view room. It was right in front of the pool, which happened to be next to the salon (and very close to the bus stop!) We had a bit of a walk to the lobby/food court area, but there were cast members driving golf carts around and offered rides (we never obliged, though).
We only went to the main pool area once, it was very nice, though we didn't try the slide.
On our last day we rented bikes and rode around the beautiful resort.
It is a convention hotel. When we were there, Mensa was meeting. We only knew that because we were talking to people at the pool. I would not have known it otherwise. You are so far removed from the meeting rooms, etc.
Some people feel that the convention meeting area takes away from the theming of the resort, but we loved it and would definitely stay at CS again!!
We stayed there in Jan 2011, and it's now my fave resort! It's beautiful and peaceful, despite being large. We were in Cabanas 9B which was an awesome location, super close to the bus stops and main bldg. There were a couple conventions going on when we were there (which I only knew about because I had to go over into that area to use the internet cafe for a minute), but you never would have known. I'm staying there again this December and I can't wait!!

We have stayed at Coronado twice the last 3 years. Stayed in the cabanas and Ranchos areas-they have there own Buses-you can take the Bus internally to get around the area. They always have convention goers-you can call to research who is there during your visits.
They have one of the best pools there are in WDW!!
beautiful lobby
You do have to walk to get around-just allow 10-20minutes to get to the main bldg.
Coronado is our favorite moderate. Every time we've stayed there a conference has been in attendance. It has never affected our stay.
We love the room layout. The white linens are so pretty. The door between the dressing/bathroom area is easy to use and heavy so it's quiet for sleeping people.
The grounds are just lovely. Each section has it's own charm. The pool is a dream for kids and parents (my DH and DS loved the slide) and the hot tub is the biggest on property.
Great service as well. I've never taken the bus system but I've always like the option since it doesn't share with any other resort.

My dd and I stayed there a few years ago. It does have a great atmosphere. We were also close to our bus stop but just about in the very back which is a little walk to the main building. As long as you don't mind the walking you would love it there.
We have stayed there twice and think it's great. We just wanted to try some of the other resorts, so we are staying in a Royal Room at POR next month. I have never experienced on of the golf carts stopping or slowing down to offer a ride, but no problems. Never had a problem with any of the conventions either. I actually went to the convention center to ship some souvies home though.
We have stayed at CSR a few times and loved it. Its our favorite mod and one of our favorites of all WDW resorts. It is a convention resort but we were never bother by that.

I love Coronado but did have a few issues with it on my last two trips in the last two months. If you are staying here, I highly recommend a preferred room as the walk to El Centro can be quite a hike should you get a room at the back of the resort. I also find the restaurants to be much higher priced than those at other moderates. This is because they are targeting business travelers. The Pepper Market is now almost $20 for a buffet breakfast!! With characters, this is only a good deal if you are using a counter service credit - then it's a GREAT deal! Maya Grill is delicious but pretty pricey for a moderate table service. I also had a couple of minor housekeeping issues - nothing major but all told, it was enough to bump CSR out of my top spot for moderates.
We stayed at CSR in spring 2009 right after the renovations. The room decor was brand new, very impressive and more upscale than the other mods IMHO.
Our room was in the Ranchos section which was really far from El Centro. Really far. We did have a bus stop fairly close by.
The Peppermarket food court was okay. Lots of choices, yes, but nothing super great about it. We usually took our food "to go" and didn't pay that extra 10 percent surcharge for eating there ... I'm not even sure they still do that.
The "Dig Site" pool was awesome. My DD's loved it (and quite honestly I did too!)
I did get zinged with a "delivery charge." I had ordered a case of water from Costco to be delivered to me at WDW. (I had done this before at POFQ and it went smoothly with no hidden fees). When it arrived, I was notified by "convention services" they would deliver it to my room for $15! I refused. They would not permit me to pick it up myself. Finally, they agreed to deliver it for $5. I believe this is because it was a convention hotel. Lesson learned.
Overall, we liked CSR. Would I return? Maybe. The thing is we really like trying a different resort each trip for something "new to us" so to speak. It was enjoyable, but I didn't love it so much that I have to return foresaking all other experiences ...
We have stayed there several times the most recent was last March with my daughter and I. We like the resort alot. It is a big so that is one place that I pay to upgrade for the room location, closer to el centro. The food options are really good and the pool is nice.
I'll be the negative voice, I guess. I stayed at CSR last year in October for a brief visit to attend MNSSHP. Yes, the resort is pretty, but I found it to be way too spread out and long walks to both El Centro and the bus stop. Also, we waited both days that we were there almost 45 minutes for a bus to the parks. We also had issues with rude CMs, specifically in Rix Market. We were also told that we didn't qualify for refillable mugs until someone figured it out on the second day of our two day stay. Maybe it was just an odd location, but at night when we got back to the resort, we literally walked for 5 minutes to get back to the room, and that was from the nearest of the four bus stops.
It seems like I'm the exception to the rule, but obviously my experience at CSR was unpleasant.
BTW, I've stayed on property many times, and this has been my only shaky stay.
I stayed last Christmas with my family. It was a lovely resort though it was a bit spread out. My mom didn't care for the way the pepper market was set up and although it was good I thought it was a bit expensive. I think the deciding factor would be how much time one plans to spend at the resort. I like to be at the parks at openings, come back in the afternoon and go back to a park in the evening. The size of the resort and type of foodcourt slowed us down A LOT. However if I was going to eat at the resort more, use the pool more often and wasn't trying to be at the parks at opening I would definitely stay again.
