As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I've never done a split stay before. And I'm still not 100% sure I'm going to, but I'm considering changing our Oct. trip to one. But I have a few questions for some more experienced "split-stayers"
1: Do you get two separate reservation #s or are they connected under one?
2: I know the DP can be a little annoying on a split stay - how manageable is that?
3: What's the process of ACTUALLY getting from one resort to another like?
and finally...
4: Can you apply bounceback to both reservations? My current reservation is with a bounceback discount.
1. Yes, they are two separate reservations with different numbers
2. If we do a split stay and want the Dining Plan, we just get a package w/dining reservation for the first part of the trip and do room-only for the second part. We get tickets to cover all the days we need them with the package and make the dining reservations we want to have covered during our first part of the trip. We make fewer or no TS restaurant reservations for the second part, concentrating on CS instead.
3. You check out of one resort, have your luggage sent to the other resort by bell services, and then check in the new resort later. We usually check out and do a park for a while before going to the new resort to get checked in.
4. You can use your Bounceback for as many reservations as wish, BUT, I think you would have had to do it while still checked in to the resort when you set it up previously. Don't give up hope though, they may extend you the BB price since you are basically rearranging a current reservation. It won't hurt to ask at least.
I booked a BB in Jan, for this Aug, and thinking of doing a split stay. We usually do in Aug, since we're there at least 10 days or more.
I just phoned, and asked if I could apply my BB to a second resort for a split stay, and they said yes. Unfortunatley, not all room categories are available. We wanted Beach Club, but the only rooms avail. on the BB were water view. Even with 35% off, $312 was more then I'm willing to pay. I wanted a GV room, but none avail
Hidden Mickey covered the rest nicely. Disney will take care of luggage. I prefer to take a cab with my luggage in the morning to the new resort, and check in early. If your room isn't ready, Bell Service will hold your luggage.
We really enjoy doing split stays, although we always have a rental car, so can take our luggage ourselves to our next destination, which does make things easier. We also find it easier with the Dining Plan, as it means that we can book it for just part of our trip, which often suits us better.
Generally, on the change-over day we just give the bags to bell services for transfer, and head to the park. We check in at the new resort whenever it's convenient (maybe part of a park hop, or maybe just at 10:00 pm). Of course, you can also take advantage of Express Check-In to speed things along.
If you want to check in early at the new resort, it's only necessary to send one person. Everyone else can head straight to the park, where the check-in person can join them later. So, say everyone's going to MK and you're moving over to the Poly - everyone takes the bus to MK, and then the check-in person takes the boat or monorail over to the Poly.
I'll usually call the new resort around 3:00 pm to see if the luggage transfer has arrived.

We did a split stay last trip. We didn't have the dining plan the first two days we started our ddp when we arrived at resort no 2! It was super easy. We didn't have a car but it worked very smoothly. Just be prepared to tip. Dropped bags off at pop early for transfer tipped there, checked into wl, went to a park, got back around 4 had to call bell services for our bags. They were brought right up, think they wanted another tip! Lol but it worked out super easy!

I did not like our split stay when we did it. It seemed to me to be too much work for vacation. We had to check in to the second resort so we could have our park tickets as we had just enough on our first half, then just enough for our second half. We also had to wait for Bell Services at the first resort because we had cold food that needed to stay in the fridge until they arrived. I couldn't just leave it out like we would do with just luggage. Also if you do a split stay with dinning I would think it would be a bit pricey as you have to add park tickets to each stay and as we all know the more park days you have on one ticket the less expensive it is per-day.
Good Luck!

Thanks for this info. I am going to have to see if we can do this. I think we had a 30-35% bounceback offer that we booked for the end of october.
We often do a split stay, and have one coming up. We have been fortunate in the past that our new room/villa has often been ready by 10:00 AM.
We use Tables in Wonderland, so DDP is never an issue. Nor are park tickets because we have typically hold Annual Passes.
We have mostly done split stays when we drove to WDW so have checked out and gone on over to the new resort in the morning. If the room wasn't ready we just left the luggage with Bell Services.
The times we didn't drive, Bell Services picked up our luggage and transferred it to the new resort, and we went on to a park and checked in later. No issues.
Some folks just do not like to change resorts once they've settled in, but we've enjoyed the variety. For our next trip we are splitting between BLT and AKV Club Level, so I'm pretty excited about that and being able to take advantage of some of the special programs at the Lodge.

I just called and the CM I spoke to said it wasn't an option to add a new reservaion with the BB offer since we're not longer at WDW. Guess you got somebody different!
We have APs this year, so I may just wait until those rates come out and apply those to the 2nd resort (or both if it's a better discount!).

That's funny, cause my friend who I'm meeting there phoned too, to see if she could add a resort to her BB for Aug, and CM told her no.
But when I called, was told yes, and she priced it out. But even with 35%, was still to high, there being only water view avail. No garden views.
So we're going to wait for AP discounts to come out too. Hopefully it will be 40% and BC garden view avail!! But if not, I can think of worse things then all 12 nights at AKL
We've done split stays a few times and always enjoyed them. The last one we did we booked while still in WDW with BB. We were able to use the BB with both reservations but we later changed the resevation on the 2nd leg of our stay to a package that wasn't eligible for BB. I'm paranoid about luggage so we have always just done town car/limo from one hotel to the other. Then we know where our luggage is at all time. The best advice I can give is plan your park by where you're checking in. We left POR at 9am, checked into the GF and were walking up Main Street by 10:45!

Just thought of something- was the dates for your second resort within the same dates as orig. booked? I can see not being able to do it if you were adding on different dates.
My second resort would be within the dates I orig. booked for BB, but instead of AKL for 12 nights, I wanted 6 at AKL, and 6 at BC- same dates. Maybe that's why CM said ok?
